» ”Kiernan worked for you? What was his job and why doesn’t he work for you anymore?”
[/blockquote]”He did work for me once upon a day in the past yes, he was the lad who took care of problems for me. Fixed mistakes and is the reason I’m still alive you could say. He was an assassin for hire, his da wasn’t a good man and he trained the boy to be a stone-cold killer. Wanted him to follow in family footsteps you understand. Rare breed is Kiernan, he wasn’t your average killer, the man was known for making a clean kill and having waits besides pain to get information. He didn’t need to cause pain, he’d get inside their heads. He went to church every Sunday and was respectable.
He doesn’t work for me anymore because of the final job I gave him, killing the son of a rival of mine. His face isn’t welcome in these parts except but once a year now because family is something understood whether you hate a mans guts or not, he’s got a little boy he doesn’t get to see otherwise and I know it can’t be easy for the lad to live that way. If I didn’t get to see my sons? Well I’d kill to do it. The number of people killed at his hands is too high for him to want to add more and that’s understood as well. He’s straightened out now and I helped him do it by setting him up with the life there in the states. Gave him the money and the necessary paperwork to make a new life. Set it up so he could take his lass with him but she turned her back on him and bout wrecked him I imagine seeing as even though the man doesn’t blink at death he’s still got a heart in there that no one was ever able to break. I wish him luck in that life he’s living and that some day he finds his own peace but I did all I could for him after that last and that’s the end of my involvement other than respecting a final wish.
Before you ask I’ll tell you the wish, we keep tabs on the lass and his boy, make sure they’re safe and taken care of. We’ve stopped a few attempts at people fool enough to think they could mess with Kiernan’s boy, but mostly his reputation does the job keeping them away.”

» ”You work at Kiernan’s survival camp? What exactly is a survival camp and what do you know about the man who runs it?”
[/blockquote]”The camp? Oh yeah I can explain that, it’s like a bootcamp without the army parts or having to be a troubled teen? Well troubled teens get sent here too and some people who come here are planning on going into the army…but that’s not the point of the place. What “Outlast” is all about is teaching people to rely on their own strengths and make it through tough situations. Here it’s being out in the wilderness and having to survive and make it to certain check points. You spend a week going through the “basic training” part and once you’ve completed that you can come any weekend and work your way through challenges to get to new checkpoints. Kiernan owns like a ridiculous amount of land here for the camp and it does surprisingly good business. It’s open year round and the challenges are always changing. Everyone does a refresher course of basic training every year because you have to keep up-to-date.
Normally who we get here are like dad’s and sons and teenagers looking for a challenge. There’s a competition for those who can complete the challenges and things you win cash prizes and things like that. It’s actually a really cool place and on top of the challenges and things there are classes that teach you different survival skills so you can take those and get even better at making it through the checkpoints. Kiernan runs 2 of the classes, archery and he takes half the hand-to-hand classes when we get a lot of people signed up for them. Mostly he handles setting up the challenges and coming up with ideas, keeping things running and bringing people in. It’s actually a really great place because people can either learn defensive skills to protect themselves or skills that will help them if they ever get into a serious situation because you learn to use everything around you to survive. It’s like boyscouts only better?
As for the man himself and what I think of him? He’s quiet and not big on opening up past the general public face thing? I mean he comes across as all friendly and things for the business and stuff, tough and hard working are two words that fit him well. The personal stuff though? He doesn’t get into it ever really. I wouldn’t know where he was from if it weren’t for the irish accent to be honest. I don’t ever see him with anyone either like it doesn’t seem the guy dates though the girls are always trying to catch his eye if they come up here. Actually I think he’s the whole reason any girls come up to the camp at all? I mean yeah some girls are just tough and want to see if they can do it and learn some stuff but mostly they wanna try their luck flirting I think. He’s nice about it though instead of straight up shoot-them-down kind of thing he smiles and goes along with it but you can tell he’s not interested.”

» ”Who are you?”
[/blockquote]”I am Kiernan Aiden O’Farrell and I am the owner of a survival camp that teaches people to survive in all situations. I am almost 30 years old and have a son who’s now 6 and thinks of me as “that man who visits once a year and we have fun” instead of as a father. I am a man who feels all emotions deeply but shows none of them to anyone because it’s not their business. I am a man who made many mistakes in my past and I’m paying for them now because all things have to balance themselves. My evil balances out by giving me very little good in my life right now. I expected it to happen.
I don’t like telling people too much about me because my past could get someone killed if they knew too much and told the wrong people what they know? I killed a man knowing it would mean I could not stay in Ireland. I killed many men before him and their deaths are all a part of me like it or not. But this man meant I would have to leave and never come back except then Morrigan found out everything and refused to go with me, divorced me, and kept my son from me. I want him safe as well, I want them both safe which is why I asked for their protection. I came to the states with plenty of money and still have plenty thanks to what I didn’t spend and what the camp has earned me. I am not one of those men who flashes cash all the time though, and while people think I’m withdrawn they also know I’m entertaining. I do enjoy going out and having a good time flirting and casual relationships. I just don’t let people truly get to know me or get too close to me for their safety.
I’m confusing and a lot of the time I’m angry, I keep that in check with exercise and I keep myself in check always by any means necessary because the way I lived my life before now was hard. It was the survival I’m teaching others now. It’s hard to just turn my back on that but it had to be done. I have to become more. I can’t always be this man who’s angry and hurting and screwed up. One day I have to find myself and find someone who can stay with me, I thought that would be Morrigan but it wasn’t and I’ve accepted that now. I look to the future in an attempt to forget my past and that is all you need to know.”
