"i saw the way he was looking at you. he looked like he knew you too goddamned well," he sad as soon as he pulled kylie into the apartment and slammed the door behind them. he pulled kylie over to the counter before letting go of her bicep and turning to face her, his arms crossed over his chest. "what was that about?" he questioned, his hazel eyes ablaze with anger, irritation, and above all, distrust. he didn't wait for an answer, though. he slammed his hand down on the counter and cursed to himself when the action brought on more pain than he had expected it to. his face began to turn a bright red as he covered it with his palms just in time to hide the instinctive scowl. "god dammit." he mumbled, however the sound was muffled by his big palms. he let his hands fall down to his sides before placing his hands on his hips, then crossing his arms back over his chest. he really didn't know what to do with his hands, especially since he was trying his near hardest to not smack kylie around like he so desperately wanted to right about now.
"why do you always do this to me!? we came to america together to have a life for each other! and then..and then you do this shit! sometimes i get really sick of it, kylie. i get really god damned tired of all these guys chasing you like you're some premium piece of meat." he sighed heavily before dragging his fingers through his hair, which was about due for a haircut any day now. "i'm sick and tired of worrying about if you even still care about me like i fucking care about you! clearly you don't, i mean...look at yourself." he squeaked, rubbing his cheeks to try and get rid of the heat that was swelling in them. "i fucking love you, ky, but dammit..you make it so hard!"

. motivated in defeating these haters in everything everything had been perfect that night. they had gone out for dinner but she noticed that halfway through it, he had turned bitter, his words were shorter, his eyes were darker and kylie knew that something was wrong. she had tried to comfort him, tried to get his temper down but it just got too much and they had paid the check to leave. the silence in the car ride was enough to cause her breathing to accelerate a little, hoping that the distance between the apartment was going to grow larger and larger but the invetible happened and they soon pulled into the parking spot of their small apartment home. she had slowly begun to get out of the car, not wanting to upset him further but he was around to the other side of the car in a second and gripping her bicep. she winced and grabbed onto his wrist in a light grip as she tried to get his hand to loosen just a little as it was wrapped around her arm and she knew that a bruise would be left—another mark that would have to be covered up before class began, or her work shift tomorrow. ”jaxon, you’re hurting me..” [/b] she whispered under her breath, trying to calm her own voice that held a shaky factor. she loved the male to death, there was no doubt about the amount of love that she had for jaxon but these were the moments where their relationship was rocky. his temper, his jealously, everything that revolved around his past scared her and when it showed, it appeared in full swing. she followed his steps though, not really having a choice, all the way up to their apartment and she had hoped that he would have let her go but his grip remained as she was pushed into the counter and hissed out a gasp as the side of the counter went into her back. ”what?”[/b] she asked with a confused component to her voice, what male? what was he talking about? she tried to recall the night that had occurred, going through the faces that they had seen and she fell upon a male that she did know but not as well as jaxon thought. ”Philip?...”[/b] she asked softly, regretting having even mentioned the male’s name, ”jax…he’s my classmate.”[/b] she whimpered out, not wanting him to have any wrong ideas or to question her faith to him. kylie was a beautiful girl but sometimes even she didn’t see it, and other times she knew, but those latter times were all for jaxon and for no one else. she never wanted anyone else in her life but the male who had the most sombre look on his face as he seemed to be lost in thought. ”what was what?...jaxon…”[/b] she asked as she jumped to the sound of his palm hitting the counter, and she covered her mouth to hold in the yelp that had threatened to erupt. she watched as the color seemed to drain from his face and she wanted to reach over but fear stopped her. she knew the power behind his slap, his kick, she knew that the bruises on her skin were not from accidents or spills like she used an excuse when it came to matters of jaxon—they were all from him. she did not need another one to match the bruise that was developing on her aching arm and so, she stayed put, listening to him and just watching for any change in his behavior. ”I know we did..”[/b] she whimpered out, memories of her past life rising into her mind as she shook her head, shaking them out as she did not want to become weak or distant from the words that jaxon was saying. ”but they aren’t jaxon! and even if they did…I’m yours! I’m always and whole heartedly yours! we belong together, we are together! we are here together, we are staying together but jaxon..please, baby, calm down..”[/b] she reached for his arm just as he had finished rushing his hands through his hand. kylie was scared to even touch him, afraid that he would lash out at her but her love for jaxon was overriding that fear and she reached for him. her fingers brushed across his bicep, resting on the skin of his arm and trying to soothe him. ”of course I care about you! I’m here jaxon, I’m not going anywhere…please, just calm down jaxon…just relax..”[/b] she tried as she brushed her thumb across his heated skin. ”I love you too..i do jaxon, I love you with all my heart. please baby..”[/b] she muttered, her other hand reaching up to his cheek, turning his face to make their lips meet. she just wanted his color to come back, she wanted the calm jaxon, but the current look on his face as she pulled back from the kiss made her lose all hope for that happening at the moment. And this instance was no different. Just like all of the other times, he caught himself being a complete and total douche. And on top of it all, it was unnecessary, too. He knew that. Kylie knew that. Hell, anyone that could even begin to piece together how hellish their relationship was would be able to tell right off the bat that 99.9% of the time, it was Jax that was acting out for no reason at all. Unless if you count his insecurities as a reason to yell at his usually more than defenseless girlfriend. No matter what, he always fell into the same pattern. It killed him, honestly it did. He more than just let onto it after all the fighting was said and done. But he had to wonder to himself, and even out loud sometimes. When would enough be enough? When would Kylie finally take a stand for every bullshit thing Jax had put her through? Had accused her of? Honestly, Jax didn't want to even have to think about that. He couldn't bare with the fact that finally, she would find someone better than him. To be frank, it wouldn't be that hard. She could pick a random stranger off of the side of the road, and nine times out of ten Jax could bet you that he would be a hell of a lot better of a person than he was. But no one could love Kylie like Jax did. In some weird, demented way, this abuse, this...agonizing bout of fights they went through on a day to day basis was his way of showing hos much he loved her. He didn't want to lose her. That was the big issue. That was what sparked most of these fights and fueled the fire deep in his stomach. He was insecure, yeah, but he didn't want to lose her in that same token. He knew he could, very easily. But he didn't want to. He didn't want another man to lay a finger on her, to yell at her, or to do anything that Jax himself was already doing. Wasn't that enough? One asshole was plenty to last her a lifetime. And Jax was more than happy to be there for a lifetime. More than happy. He'd be thrilled. Ecstatic. Whatever other word you could use for it. That's all he wanted at the end of the day. To be the one and only in Kylie's life, because she sure as hell was the one and only in his life.
And that just goes to show how truly fucked up this man is.
He tried to focus on the throbbing in his palm. He tried to block out the soft sounds coming from kylie's mouth. He had to block it all out before things got any uglier. But the longer he stayed silent, the more and more his mind began to turn, and all those memories of his childhood came flooding back. His father never loved his mother. Hell, his father never even loved his own son. And once his step siblings came into the picture...well, Jax was sure as hell not the apple in anyone's eye after that. One would think, a boy who had been abused all of his life wouldn't fall into the same rut that everyone who had abused him had. But that was exactly what had happened to Jax. No matter how many times he tried to rein in his anger. No matter how many times he tried to take deep breathes and count back to ten...no matter how many times Kylie had said he was the only one for her..none of it worked. And a deep fear in the pit of Jax's stomach told him that it would never work. He would always be the same asshole as before. He'd be the guy that Kylie would tell her kids about once they started dating. “stay away from the crazy guy,” she'd say. “some men are only out to hurt you,” she'd add on. And while that statement could be directed towards any number of men in her life that had wronged her, it would always be about jax. The one that had wronged her so many times, he was surprised that their dysfunctioning relationship was still that. A relationship. It was a shitty one that that, too.
But no matter how much he regretted it, no matter how guilty he felt at the moment...that didn't stop him from ignoring what Kylie had said. She was trying to relax him, to calm him down and prevent the inevitable from happening, but as always, it wasn't working. When she moved in for a kiss, his face remained motionless, his lips barely twitching when they came into contact with her own. He blinked slowly before pushing her back with brute force. He then whirled around, a slew of curse words being mumbled under his breath. He grabbed the nearest thing to him on the counter – which at the time was a china plate – and hurled it at the wall adjacent to him. He winced at the sound the shattering plate made before ducking his head and gripping onto the edge of the counter so tightly, his knuckles began to turn white.
”stop fucking lying.” was all he could possibly manage. Ten...nine...eight..He tried so hard to calm himself. Seven...six...five...four...three...But the further back he counted, the more the fire in his heart heated up, to the point where it hurt him to not be yelling at or hitting something right now. Two...one. In one solid, quick movement, he turned back to face kylie and slammed his fist into the wall, just barely missing her face. ”all you ever do is lie..”

. motivated in defeating these haters in everything moments like this were what made jaxon seem worse than her own step brother and that was something that regretted doing, she hated to think like that but the look in jaxon’s eyes scared her more than anything that her step brother could have done. she did not want to leave jaxon, no, she loved him with every single part of her but she felt like a coward when she flinched away from him as he even took a sharp breath in fear that his hand was going to be rushed across her bare skin. she had enough of that, or that was what she said to herself every time it happened and only hours later, she was back in his arms. it was a vicious cycle, one that many of their friends questioned but they did not understand the power that they two had over one another and kylie wasn’t even sure that she even realized it. because kylie knew at the end of the day that no one would be able to make her feel this way and no one would feel this way about her and that kept her around through all of the abuse and the turmoil that he shoved her through, literally. she could already feel the pain in her arm starting from being pulled out of the car and the finger print etched bruises were going to be hard to explain but she was always making excuses for jaxon. he wasn’t feeling well, had an off day, he isn’t usually like this, just to give a few examples of the things that kylie told people to have jaxon reflect better in society’s eyes but she just wished that he would see what a great guy he was and how much she loved him and how she was never going to walk away from him, willingly. at the end of the day, kylie knew the real side of jaxon, the one that saved her from the clutches of her step brother, the guy that sang to her on stage and though his love had turned into more of a possession, kylie would not be walking away from him but she was not sure how to get him to realize it. marriage was always an option, a ring on her finger would mean that she was eternally his but she was only eighteen, and she felt that she had more of a life to live without his last name being attached. but she still wanted him to be there for her every step of the way, so what was a girl to do?
there was nothing but silence between them as they both tried to catch their breaths, she was nearly out of breath with the few shoves that she had received and her own gasping when his fists would hit the hard surface of the marble counter. he was injuring himself and she knew that it was to keep his anger in check but it appeared to be making things worse. she could see the anger rising in his eyes and his face was being construed into something that she feared, very much. ”jax..baby..” [/b] she pleaded with a soft voice, her steps moving closer to him as she thought that maybe, just maybe, a small touch would be enough to calm him down. he was always able to pull her out of her memories, out of her nightmares so why couldn’t she do the same to him? she suddenly felt her body being flung back as her shoulders were gripped and then released with a forced shove, sending her reeling into the wall on the opposite side of the small kitchen. she winced slightly but she knew this pain well enough to know it was nothing compared to the power of his actual fists, Jax!”[/b] she screamed as she watched the plate coming near the wall and she quickly ducked down, avoiding the small shards of glass as she covered her head and huddled herself closer to the cabinet. yet another fight was now evident in a broken plate as she slowly reached for a piece before tossing it away from her, a mess that she would surely clean up. she slowly began to rise to her feet, ”I’m not lying jaxon. I …I don’t lie. I never could lie to you!”[/b] and now the tears were rising in her eyes. it was one thing to accuse her of looking at another guy, it was another to call her a liar. she was called a liar throughout her entire ordeal with her step brother and the words stung her deeper than even jaxon could realize. ”I didn’t lie! it’s true! all of it! why don’t you believe me!?”[/b] she sobbed out, her words getting caught in her throat more than once but she forced them out at the same time that tears were beginning to roll down her cheeks. ”what can I do jaxon!? I’m here! I’m standing here waiting for you to trust me, believe me that you are the only one guy that I want and the only one that I love!”[/b], she was unsure of how else to tell him as his back was turned to her, he could not see the damage that he had done to her by just his words. he suddenly whirled away and she quickly backed herself into the wall, feeling the cold surface against her back as she turned her head away as the impending fist was lodged into the wall, ”I’m here..with no chains, with nothing holding me back from leaving…and yet, I stand here! what more do you want from me jaxon..”[/b] she asked, reaching up to wipe at her eyes. she was growing too frustrated with the same argument, and a sniffle later and her eyes were narrowed slightly as she gave him a shove so that she could take a step forward and be away from the wall but still keep her distance. her hands ached after the shove as if his skin was so hot that it burned her, but his words were doing a well enough job of that and kylie could feel that she was close to her breaking point for the evening. "kylie..." he mumbled, his voice wavering slightly. he was about done with all of this to be completely honest. the fighting, the wondering when it would all finally be enough. maybe this was like how it always went. jax wouldn't know, though. it felt like this was the first time that any of this was happening to them, even though he knew for a fact that it had happened more times than he could possibly count. he wasn't proud of who he was or who he had become. all his life, he had told himself he'd never be like his father, but that was exactly what he had done. he had become the same cold and abusive man that he had resented all of his life. and above all, he was doing it to the woman he loved and adored and cherished more than anything else in the world. how was that even possible? you'd think a gentle and understanding girl like kylie would be exactly the type to steer him from being that kind of man. but sadly and unfortunately for the both of them, it was the exact opposite in his case. and that left him constantly trying to pick up the pieces and apologizing, trying to get some innocence that their relationship used to have earlier on, back when they still lived in canada near both of their demons. for jax, it was his step brothers and father that constantly haunted him in his sleep. for kylie, it was her evil, slimy little stepbrother. and they both saved each other from them. but now, in myrtle beach, they had other worries to trouble their pretty little minds. for kylie, it was her abusive boyfriend. for jax, it was himself. but it looked like, in jax's grim view of life anyways, there was no way of saving either of them any time soon. the only way he could think of saving kylie was to straight up just leave her and never look back. but he couldn't do that. he loved her too goddamned much to even think about not being with her.
"marry me." he finally said after a long moment of abrupt, dead silence. "not now, not for a while. not till i can afford something nice for you. that you deserve." his voice cracked at the end, and he cleared his throat and looked down at his feet. jax looked back up, his eyes burning. "just let us make this one promise to each other, kylie. to love each other forever and never hurt one another again.." it wasn't a fool proof plan, but at this point in time, jax was desperate to believe anything could help their hell bound relationship.

. IT'S A LITTLE BIT FRIGHTENING, WE MIGHT AS WELL BE PLAYING WITH LIGHTENING her understanding of the relationship between them was something completely different from what jaxon had in mind as she had never thought of herself too good for him, or even that he was below her. they were equal, it was how she saw their relationship but there were times where his anger dominated over her and she could do nothing to help it except endure every stinging word and painful blow. this time, it was nothing of the extreme except for the plate getting the brunt of the attack as it laid shattered at her feet which was still tucked her as she cowered against the cabinet in fear of the punch getting her next time or the object actually hitting it’s intended target. those were two things that kylie did not want as she would have to explain yet another bruise, another cut, another puffy eyed appearance that she would rather not make up excuses for. she hated to lie but for jaxon, she would do anything for him. she stayed seated on the floor for just a moment, her breathing labored as her chest rose and fall at a rapid rate and her throat burned from the volume that her voice had reached. she could finally see his eyes lightening and his anger simmering down and floating away and she slowly rose her body off the ground, standing on shaky legs with the use of the counter top as assistance to keep her balanced. she raised her head up to meet his, her eyes trailing up his body to make sure nothing was self harmed during his temper moment but found that the only thing that looked injured were his eyes as they filled up with regret. ”jaxon…” [/b] she whispered with a shake of her head and a hand to run through her hair, trying to keep her own stress levels down as well as her own anxiety from peeking through. there was already a burning in her chest and her head was hurting just a little but her concern did not lie with herself, but with him. she heard her name and quickly took that step forward that would bring herself to him. she did not utter a word as she reached for his hand, seeing it red and tension filled from the impact that he had with the marble counter. she flipped his hand over, letting her fingers glide along the palm of his hand with a loving touch, ”still here..”[/b] she mumbled, taking another step closer and continuing to sooth the burning of his palm. she could still wince when thinking about the impact of the counter into his hand but she stopped herself and instead, leaned up to put a gentle kiss to his lips. if she thought back to how many times that he had hurt her, and how many times her words had stung him, she would be driving herself crazy when trying to figure out exactly how they even worked everything out. pushing things aside helped a lot until the next fight rolled around and everything was used for ammunition. kylie did not have to think about it though, instead, all she had to do was reassure herself of her love for jaxon and suddenly, their relationship made sense again. she suddenly dropped his hand as he continued speaking out of pure shock. they had been together almost two years, gone through hell and back and fought external and internal demons and they still had a long way to go. did he really think that they were ready for marriage? the silence between them was enough to cause her to shuffle her feet as she was not able to produce an answer. she loved the male but would their love and their strength be enough for marriage? that was the question that she had to ask before answering him fully. she had already known that one day she would attach his last name to hers, forever claiming them as one in both societal and their own terms but this was something different. she had thought about it but never imagined it actually happened and though it was not how she imagined the question being asked, it was still thoughtful and sweet but she had to protest it. ”jax..you know I love you and someday, I know we will be married and living our happily ever after but…we can barely afford the apartment, we cannot exactly feed ourselves the healthiest of foods and we both work insane hours.”[/b], reaching to take his hand again, ”we got a long way to go baby. we have a long way until we get anywhere close as love is not enough…but one day jaxon, we will be married..”[/b] as she gave her subtle yes, her mind was screaming at her to take it back. deep down, she knew that her and jaxon would struggle for their entire lives trying to keep their dysfunctional relationship afloat but that was okay to her as long as he was by her side for the entire bumpy ride. ”but …you should not use marriage as a means to end a fight. it’s not right nor is it actually proper or even the right thing to do…”[/b] she whispered the last part, not wanting to anger him further but needing him to know the truth about what he had just suggested. marriage was the not the means to end a fight, it was not the proper thing to do in order to get them to stop yelling at one another but she nodded her head to his next words, already having little faith in them keeping it—but this was a better means to end the fight, ”jax…I will love you forever and I would never hurt you. i promise..”[/b] she whispered before placing a hand on their side of his face and leaning in for a soft, sensual kiss.
