but pretty's just part of the things she does to amaze me . ruby with ariella / 1135 words / white shirt & jeans / what have we done? D: he had no idea how long the blood on his shirt had been there, or how long he had been kneeling on the ground, straddling a nearly lifeless and limp body as he mumbled incoherent words. in the corner of the still dark parking lot, he imagined ariella still sitting there, sobbing and curled into herself, but he wouldn't know. the last time he had seen her was before he got knocked to the ground. before his anger really got set off, for reasons even grey himself didn't know. yeah, it was obvious what this man had been doing to his girlfriend. and, naturally, grey didn't appreciate it, not one damned bit. as soon as he had seen what was going on, he lunged himself at the man, fists clenched and pounding into the poor excuse of a man's chest and face. of course, he wasn't sitting completely idle, either. grey had a black eye and a bloody nose, and he'd definitely be sore after all of this was said and done, but while he was slamming the perv into the asphalt, the walls, and even the hood of his car, he wasn't focused on the pain that he would be feeling afterwards, or even the pain that he was definitely feeling right now. his hands were burning, and he was pretty sure he had done something to his left hand when he missed his target and landed a fist (with all of his might, mind you) right in the blacktop in the parking lot. his nose and mouth were bleeding, both from a series of punches the other man had been able to dish out before grey had somewhat immobilized him. this is what people who knew grey for a long period of time were talking about when saying that getting him angry beyond words was never a good idea. yes, it was one thing to piss him off. he had a voice that carried and a temper that was like a short fuse. this was a special kind of anger, though. it was animalistic. it was a white hot, blinding anger. and if you were to ask him in a few days what happened, he wouldn't be able to tell you. he wouldn't be able to remember any of this. which may have been a blessing in disguise, because the aftermath of everything that had happened thus far would be something grey never had to deal with before.
it was around the time that the police officers pulled him off of the unconscious man that what happened finally processed through his head. he began to search wildly for ariella, the comfort in seeing the familiar blonde headed girl more pertinent than anyone could ever realize. she was his anchor. she was.. in essence, the best thing in his life, along with his son, chris. it had taken them a long time to finally become what they were today, but it happened. and honestly... it was the best thing that grey could ever ask for. he could be poor, he could be blind, and he could be starving, but all of that would be made up and fixed if he still had ariella hayes with him. even friends of his had started to notice the look in his eyes when he talked about her or her name was mention, or when something little reminded him of her. a bunch of friends had made japes that they should just get married already. even though grey brushed it off and laughed, it had been something that was on his mind lately. and it was no longer a question of when, it was a question of how and where. and that was that. but obviously... that was going to change. especially since the ring had seemed to gone missing from its original spot in his pocket. he must've lost it during the fight, or at least that's what he was hoping as a police officer led him to the back of an ambulance. and that's when he saw her. the most beautiful creature to have ever walked the earth, even with her makeup and hair in a mess and one of the big fire blankets shrugged over her shoulders. his voice caught in his throat and he stepped closer to her, his eyes dropping subtly. stay here, sir. leave the premiss and it won't be pretty. grey only nodded, his eyes never leaving ariella. at this point, his voice was completely gone. his throat was dry and choking on the threat of tears that could, at any moment, spring from his somber and deep set eyes. "i'm so sorry, baby..." he mumbled, reaching up and cupping the right side of her face with his hand. "he's gone now. i promise... he'll never..." he paused and let his hand drop back down to his side. promise what exactly? hadn't he promised he'd protect her when they confessed their feelings for one another at the diner? he lied. he was a no good, two faced liar. because he hadn't protected her. because this happened. he thought he was doing her good by making her move in with him and getting a few neighbors to keep a lookout for anything suspicious. but apparently, none of that worked. because as soon as he let his guard down, even if only for a minute, she got attacked when he wasn't even with her. luckily, he was only a few blocks away getting the ring, and when he got a more than suspicious phone call from ariella... he couldn't trust that something entirely good was happening that had caused her to hang up abruptly after he had answered the phone.
grey hopped up on the back of the ambulance next to ariella and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, resting his head on her shoulder. he let the medics do whatever they wanted to him - put on the invisible sutures for some of the many cuts he had on his face, and then a brace around his wrist, which he overheard him mumbling about to himself, but he hadn't cared to pay attention to what he was saying. all he knew was that his entire body was throbbing, and for what? did you drop this, sir? the voice carried grey away from his thoughts for just a moment, and he looked up to see the ring in the officer's hand, in near perfect condition. he quickly took it out of the officer's hand and put it on the flat of his palm, staring at it for the longest time, as if his glare would somehow magically make everything better. but that was a lie. "thanks." he replied, nodding at the officer before the uniformed man turned on his heel and walked away.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; height: 200px;]where would i be without someone to save me grey / a bigass blanket / 1722 / we so mean to griella ariella had known something bad was going to happen when she woke up this morning. she just had this sick feeling at the pit of her stomach telling her that something bad was going to go down today. she just didn't know what. she hadn't told grey though. she didn't want him worrying because she knew better than anyone that he was the protective type. she knew that their neighbours meant well and they do like her, but she also knew that grey had asked them keep a close eye on her just in case anything happened. if she told him about her uneasy feeling at the pit of her stomach, he wouldn't even let her step out of their bedroom. she loved him, there was no denying that, and she definitely appreciated his protectiveness because god knows no one has ever treated her this way. no one had ever cared about her enough to want to protect her from the world. but then ari wasn't the type of girl who liked being trapped in the house. she liked going out and getting things done. plus, she had work today and the weather was screaming at her, telling her that it was perfect for surfing. her job wasn't exactly the ideal career she had always dreamed of, but all things considered, it was something. she loved teaching people how to surf and the faces they wore when they manage to balance on their board. it was no celebrity life her mother led and it was no business management her father got. but she was definitely thinking about going to back to school. now that life was finally settling down and things were going her way, she figured it would be okay for her to go back. it wouldn't be ucla for many reasons. no matter how much she loved being in an ivy league school. she just couldn't go back there again, but usc wasn't bad either. she just had to figure out what she wanted to study or do in life. for now, though, she had to settle for this surfing job and ignore the warning bells going off in her head. she didn't think too much about it as she went through her usual morning routine. not even when the hair at back of her neck tingled as if someone was watching her. she had reassured herself that she was just being paranoid as usual. ever since she found out that man had been released from jail, she had been extremely paranoid that he would find her. although, maybe she had a reason to be. there were multiple occasions when they were still in crystal fall that she had saw him from the corner of her eye. she had thought that maybe it was just a lookalike or that she was just seeing things. but then grey had said they should move, and that seemed like a good idea to her. a new place that wouldn't make her think that she saw the man from years ago. except, she did. she often saw his figure lingering in the shadows not too far from him. but she was never sure whether it was really him or just someone else or that she just had an overactive imagination. she didn't think there was any reason to listen to her gut instinct,
but a part of her knew she should have. because if she had, none of this would have happened. she wouldn't be sitting at the back of an ambulance, wrapped in their emergency blankets that covered her very bruised and naked body. she wouldn't be here, hearing nothing, and staring at nothing in particular. a part of her registered that the paramedics were talking to her, but she didn't hear it. couldn't hear it. didn't want to hear it. she didn't want to hear anything. she didn't want to see anything. she didn't want anything. she just wanted to fade away. she wanted to wake up in grey's arms and realize this was just a nightmare. nothing but a dream. just a really really bad and cruel dream. except it wasn't. her day had went relatively normal. she had driven to work, and had taught a few classes before she went to go get some groceries, and a few things for chris. the baby boy was not her own, but she loved him so dearly that he might as well be her own. grey and chris were the only two people in the world who meant more to her than anything. she didn't know what she would do without them. grey had been an amazing friend, but he was an even greater boyfriend, and she couldn't possibly ask for more. the two males in her life made her happy, and needless to say, she was ready to settle down, but she didn't want to scare grey away. she had dropped a couple of hints here and there, but not enough to really make it obvious. she would allow him to take that step when he was ready. until then, she would just take what she had. she had been unloading the groceries into the trunk of her car that was parked in the underground parking lot when the feeling of being followed really got to her. it was making her physically sick, and she knew that the sound of grey's voice would calm her nerves a little more. she had only been on the phone with him for a few minutes when he had attacked her from behind. she hadn't known it was him at first, but she recognized the voice that haunted her dreams since she was eleven years old. her first instinct had been to run, but he already had her locked in his grip. her second was to call someone for help, but she had dropped the phone in surprise, abruptly ending the call with grey as her phone cracked from the impact against the asphalt. by the time she started to scream, though, he had already had one hand skillfully covering her mouth as he roughly pushed her against the wall. there had been plenty of struggling on her part, but as usual, he was much stronger than her. he had managed to keep her pinned against the wall with one hand while the other ripped her dress off. she hadn't thought it would happen again. it was supposed to be over. she had thought after that last time that helped her send him to jail, it wouldn't happen again. that it was the end.
but she was stupid. she should have known better. he had told her he would be back. that he would do it all over again and then proceed to kill her. that was what he had told her before she dropped out ucla. it had been his warning. it was the reason she ran. she shouldn't have put it past him that he would find her. she didn't know how long she was crying, just screaming against the cloth tied around her mouth, waiting for it to be all over. she hated him. hated knowing that he was capable of raping her again despite the fact that it had been years. hated that smug look he was wearing on his face while he tore the lingerie off her body before he got his way with her. to her, the moment felt like forever. but really, it couldn't have been that long. it just felt like it. it felt like an eternity before someone had arrived to help her. before she could even register who it was, the man had been knocked off of her and onto the ground as the two men broke. it took her seconds to realize it was grey, but all she could focus on was the fact that her worst fear had happened. the man had raped her. her eyes saw grey hitting the man over and over again, but she wasn't really seeing. all she could do was slump on the ground and curl herself into the smallest ball possible as if that would make her truly disappear from the world. she had been too indulged in her state of shock to even realize that a paramedic had wrapped a large blanket around her naked body and carrying her to the back of the ambulance. she didn't know how long grey had been fighting with the man. she didn't know how long the paramedic had been standing there, trying to get a response from her, but all she could do was stare blankly into the thin air, and do everything in her power to not throw up. but it wasn't really until grey went to cup her cheek that she came back to reality. she flinched away from his hand, turning her head so it was facing the wall of the ambulance. she knew grey would never hurt her. that was the last thing he would do, but she just couldn't. not after the way the man had touched her. she stiffened as grey sat next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, trying to hold back the scream her mind wanted to let out. he posed no danger, but any sort of touching at the moment absolutely terrified her. she said nothing. couldn't say anything. she didn't trust her voice. she couldn't even look at grey, afraid to see the expression he wore. afraid to see the disgust in his eyes. she kept her eyes fixed on the side of the ambulance until another officer came by, wondering if the object in his hand was grey's. her eyes darted to the engagement ring in the palm of his hand, just staring at it before she let out the first sound since grey arrived at the scene. she pulled the blanket even closer to her, her legs drawn up, knees tucked under her chin as her face dropped into the small space between her knees and her chest, crying with all her might. why? why me?" she asked, her cries muffled by the blanket. "why does it have to be me?" she exclaimed, her fingers curling into fists with the corners of the blanket in her hand, shoulders shaking as the tears streamed down her face.

but pretty's just part of the things she does to amaze me . ruby with ariella / 1135 words / white shirt & jeans / sucky late reply.. ily? a deep, hollow feeling had settled in the graves of grey's stomach while he watched the rapist get handcuffed and led into the back of one of the police cars. it wasn't long at all before the police officer that had been speaking to grey earlier, the one who found the ring, was walking back up to the couple with a long, slow gait. grey watched him warily while stuffing the ring back into his pocket, glancing over at ariella for a moment as he heard words fall from her lips. his stare was ripped away by the officer as he stopped before the two of them and cleared his throat. "sir, we will need to take you downtown in order to get all of this cleared away," the officer stated, reaching behind him for what grey could only presume would be his handcuffs. his blue eyes widened considerably and he stepped back a moment. "you're putting me under arrest?" he questioned critically, his voice raising ever so slightly, a sign that his temper was flaring up again. after he came down from an anger high, it wasn't hard to get him mad again; it usually took him longer than a few hours to cool himself down. this, though.. even if he had bigger fish to fry and larger things to worry about and set his mind to.. this was the absolute last thing he needed to be hearing right now. and he assumed the officer knew that; the look he was giving grey winchester at that point was one of pity and sorrow. "it's mandatory. this guy almost got beat to death. we just have to clear some stuff up." the officer stole a quick glance at ariella before resuming to glare up at grey. grey sighed deeply and looked down at his feet. "okay, i'll go. just... give me a few minutes, okay? i need to calm her down. i need to.. i need to make sure my baby is okay!" his voice cracked at the last of his words, and he quickly turned on his heel to look to ariella, who he had only just now realized was sobbing. only maybe that wasn't the first time he had noticed it. had she been doing it all along? he felt terrible for not noticing something like that. he felt terrible for all of this to be completely honest with you, but that seemed to be the last straw. grey was usually fantastic about noticing every last detail of everything, especially when ariella came into play. but this? no, this was different. he wasn't noticing jack shit, and it made him angry. he didn't even know why - but he was in one of those moods where his hair could've been blowing in the wrong direction and he could go into full on hulk mode and smash people's faces in. "ten minutes." the officer reminded grey sternly before turning around and walking back to his car to fill out the reports.
after grey was certain the officer was gone and out of earshot, he grunted while running his fingers through his hair. "i love you, beautiful.." he mumbled, bewilderment screwing his face into a deep scowl as he grabbed for one of her small hands, but he soon took the motion back and instead shoved his own hands into his pockets. "ari baby i'm so sorry this happened to you." he mumbled, picking up a somewhat apologetic tone, as if this was all his fault. of course, that's exactly what he thought. grey was blaming himself for all of this. he couldn't believe for a minute that the world was just a cruel place. no, there was always something he was doing wrong, and that was why this had happened today. he couldn't think of a more logical reason behind it. it would've been too easy to blame it on the actual guy that had raped her. it would've been easy to say that he was messed up in the head and that there was just bad people in life and you had to just deal with it. but that wasn't the way grey worked at all. he was the type to brood. he was the type to question why things were. and he was the type to blame himself before he blamed anyone else.
that's why seeing ariella like this tore him to pieces, especially if he were to put everything into perspective and push away the fact that what had just happened... well, happened to her.
"i should've protected you, i should've.." he cut himself off and swallowed hard, allowing a long pause to swallow up the both of them before he continued, "i wanted this stupid thing to be a surprise," he grumbled, fishing for the engagement ring out of the depths of his pockets. "otherwise i could've been there to save you. ari, i'm so sorry. so, so, so very sorry.." and then silence. it was the only thing he could bring himself to do. his eyes had long since ceased from looking at his beautiful girlfriend and were instead fixed on the shiny engagement ring that he was holding between the pad of his thumb and index finger. "i can bet after how much i failed at protecting you, i shouldn't even want to still marry you right now.." he paused and bit his lower lip as he slowly gazed back up at her and reluctantly continuing, "but i love you."
