Kiernan had learned and was learning what Kira was capable of, so her hitting him if he got too overprotective? He’d learn to be prepared for it since he’d deserve it and she’d dish it out. Chalk it up to him being crazy since it was one of the things he liked so much about her. He would do his best to subtly keep her safe without pissing her off, though subtle wasn’t a strong suit of his so he’d have to work on that. He knew that with work she would probably be taking risks still, knew it wasn’t in her to hold back really so it would be a challenge but he did trust her to handle herself and keep both of them safe he just wanted to make doubly sure of it. Looking at her as she laughed he snorted at that and shook his head, ”And now I’ll be on my guard what I say around you just in case.” he said with a chuckle.
Nodding to what she said about him being all smiles he chuckled and then shook his head, ”Man gets good news and he’s not supposed to smile? I wasn’t taught that lesson just yet…I’ll work on it.” he said sarcastically not planning to actually stop himself from smiling with how rare it was already. He wouldn’t stop himself from being happy, might not always show it so much but he didn’t mind the times he did since they happened most often around her these days.
He knew she wasn’t going to like his not wanting her to drive the motorcycle now, knew it wasn’t just going to lead to a “oh okay!” while she handed over the keys or anything like that but he couldn’t help trying or being the stubborn man he’d always been. ”Kira it’s not slow, trust me on that and it’s one night driving it. You can take one of the smaller cars from the garage instead of the SUV any other time but this is the only vehicle here other than the motorcycle right now.” he said knowing most of his vehicles were modified to be extra safe even if they didn’t look it. Looking at her and considering the idea of “one more” and probably getting punched again against his fears he sighed and knew he couldn’t smother her, wouldn’t smother her and chase her off cause then once again it would be his own damned fault when a woman wanted nothing more to do with him. Sighing he ran a hand over his face and held the helmet out to her, ”Fine, take it.” he said his voice carefully controlled now to hide what all was behind the simple words like a mountain of fear and deep desire to say no to this and stand his ground just to make sure she was safe.

She smiled when he said that he'd be on his guard with what he said around her now. "Probably going to be a good idea. Believe me... I've already noticed the mood swings and they piss me off. I'm not normally the type of girl who gets emotional over ridiculous things and I know you know that but..." She shook her head. "Yesterday morning, I started crying because there was no fucking sugar in the sugar bowl, you know that? What the hell is that?" She huffed, not very thrilled with the idea that she had a feeling that she was going to be an emotional train wreck over the next eight months. She almost felt bad for Kier.
Almost.
"I'm glad you're happy about it." She admitted to him. Not that she had really doubted that he would be upset about it. While their own relationship hadn't been established in the fullest of terms, Kira had known instinctively that he would be happy with the concept of her being pregnant. And that made her happy. "I like seeing you smile though..." She admitted. She just wasn't sure her hormones would be able to handle if it he kept it up. The man was too good looking.
She rolled her eyes at his comments about the SUV, still trying to sell it to her. She wasn't going for it though. Not when she knew damned well that the odds of her getting her hands on the damned keys for one of those bikes again were slim to none. She wanted one last ride before she would be condemned to 'no bike' land. And finally... blissfully, he gave in. She smiled as she took the helmet from him and leaned in to plant a kiss on his lips. "Thank you. And I meant what I said. You know I'm a woman of my word. and..." She let her gloved hands trail down his chest for a moment. "Just because you're such a swell guy, I promise you that I'll repay you... once we get home." She smirked a little and pulled the helmet on.
Strangely enough, now that she had told him, she felt a whole hell of a lot better for it in spite of their argument. "See you at home again, Daddy." She commented as she threw a leg over the bike.

Kier nodded in agreement to it being a good idea though he dropped the probably mentally and just went with it being a straight up good idea. Listening to her talking about the mood swings and how she’d cried over there not being sugar in the bowl he blinked trying to find words that wouldn’t get his ass kicked and not finding any so deciding to just not comment on that little issue. ”Think that’s normal, wasn’t really in Morrigan’s good graces while she was pregnant so not sure.” he said with a little shrug making a mental note to do some research online to get a clue what he was in for here. He wouldn’t be chickening out or anything that was for sure but having at least a heads up of what could be headed at you was always a safe plan in his opinion.
He really was happy about it and gave her another smile when she said she was glad that he was. ”Good because I’m not sure I’m going to stop this smiling thing for a bit.” he said in a joking warning though he was actually serious when he stopped to think about it a moment. He chuckled as she said she liked seeing him smile and shrugged. ”Then enjoy it? Already warned you once how rare it was.”
He watched as she rolled her eyes at him talking about the SUV, the smile was pretty much gone now though at the thought of her getting on the bike and he really was against it. Watching as she took the helmet he sighed and the last bits of the smile disappeared as she did though he returned the kiss. ”I’m not going to be putting restrictions on you. You can do what you want so long as you’re safe about it.” he said in that same carefully emotionless tone though it was the exact opposite of what he wanted to be saying. He knew though that she wasn’t the sort of woman to take restrictions and put up with them no matter what the good intentions behind them may be. She was safe, she’d survived a lot and knew herself well enough…he’d just have to trust her to be extra safe and not take risks that were too high. ”See you at home.” he said when she was climbing on the bike and dug his keys from a pocket as he headed to the SUV climbing inside gripping the wheel tighter than necessary as he waited for her to pull out first.

She nodded a little bit when he said that he thought it might have been normal for her to be emotional in the way she was. Probably... but it was really screwing with her head and she didn't like it one damned bit. She was used to keeping herself in check and in control. She was used to being able to school her emotions and tamp them down, but apparently that just wasn't in the cards for her now or for the next couple of months. She had to wonder if it was going to last all the way through the pregnancy. If it was, it was going to drive her insane.
She sincerely hoped he didn't wind up stopping the smiling thing. He looked too damned good while he was doing it. And if he kept it up, she might very well have wound up in the SUV with him... in the back seat that is. "I have every intention of enjoying it. Maybe when you start getting grumpy and I want to see that smile I'll just remind you that you're going to be a father again." She teased him a little in the moment, unable to help herself.
She knew how much it was taking Kiernan to be able to say that to her when she knew that his instincts were probably screaming at him to do everything in his power to make sure that she was safe. Kira would be much more likely to turn to him for help in the protection department once she was too damned fat to protect herself without losing her center of gravity and faceplanting on the ground. She smiled at him and kissed his cheek again. "Thank you, Kier. I know how hard that is for you to say." She murmured before she headed back for the bike. "I'll be right in front of you." She repeated.
And she was careful on her way back. She didn't drive like a maniac and didn't do anything that would wind up giving Kiernan heart failure. Within a matter of moments, she had the bike back in the garage and she was climbing off, pulling the helmet off as well. She headed outside to greet Kier as he pulled the truck up behind her. "See?" She said, holding her arms out at the side. "I'm in one piece and Kiernan Junior and I are perfectly fine now..." She said. "Come inside and smile again so that I can jump you."

Kiernan made himself a permanent mental note in sharpie to try his best to not piss her off or really set her off emotionally at all in bad ways. Not because she’d punch him since he could take that but the tears were something he knew he’d have no clue how to handle even if it was just her hormones getting out of whack. He had a feeling she was going to hate being like that, being extra emotional and not actually in control of it since it wouldn’t be something she could stop from happening. He really did at least need to look things up to understand enough not to be clueless what was going on since he had absolutely no idea right now. Research was safe and something he was used to, made things easier to understand and easier to deal with.
Lifting an eyebrow at her he chuckled and shook his head a little at that comment about using it to get him to smile, ”No using children as weapons against me. Especially not our kid.” he said in mock-seriousness though it probably would work how she wanted, getting him to smile even when grumpy because it was amazing to him to be becoming a father again. He hadn’t gotten to be there with Bren growing up but he didn’t think Kira was really the sort to cut him out for any reason so he would get the chance to be part of their kids life.
Letting her take the bike back, it wasn’t a matter of him thinking she was a bad driver or thinking she couldn’t handle it. To him it was worrying about his family, both Kira and the baby, and wanting them to be as safe as possible. He was used to things getting ruined, stuff happening that hurt the people he cared about in retaliation for things he’d done. They’d made attempts at his family back in Ireland, he’d stopped those attempts but they were still made and now he got regular information from his old boss who was in charge of protecting his family now. Thankfully any attempts back home had started dying down when he’d left, but now and then someone would get a bug up their ass and try again normally after his visits.
He sighed as she said she knew how hard it was for him to say and bit back a comment about her really not knowing how hard it was since he wasn’t looking to start an argument of any sort. He wouldn’t be that guy who had to be with her to send someone with her if she was going somewhere but the bike was a bit riskier than any of the other cars and it worried him. If she was willing to drive one of the others he’d be more sure of her safety and hopefully would settle. Following her home he parked the SUV in its normal spot outside the house waiting for her to come out of the garage and shook his head a little, ”Kiernan junior? What if the baby’s a Mini Kira?” he asked moving toward the house and opening the door holding it for her to go inside. ”Smiles will get me jumped? I need to smile more often…”

She arched a brow at him when he said that there would be no using children against him and most especially not theirs. "Hey... if it comes to making you smile while you're being particularly difficult, you're damned right I'm going to mention the fact that you're going to be a father just to see you smile all over again." She commented with a smile of her own. She'd never use the baby against him in a malicious way, but it wasn't below her to use the baby to make him happy. Lord knew that the man needed a little bit of happiness in her life. She'd never thought that she'd be the one bringing any kind of happiness to someone else, but she wasn't going to complain in this case.
She looked at him. "Well, if it's a Mini-Kira... I just feel sorry for you." She smirked at him, unable to help herself in the moment. She knew that she'd be perfectly fine with whatever they wound up with, boy or girl. None of this had been planned in the least. None of it had been something that she had attempted to make happen. She cared about Kier a hell of a lot but she knew she didn't need to rope him in in any fashion. If anything, she had been the one psyching herself out to leave a few times because she had thought she was getting too close. "Of course smiles will get you jumped. It's what happens when you're so damned good looking." She pointed out, looking at him over her shoulder as she headed into the house ahead of him.
