it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] As she spoke about what Bryce’s father had done, Jaxon’s eyes darkened some. Abuse against a woman was bad enough. Sure Jaxon wasn’t perfect and he’d put a few holes in the wall in his day but that’s most because it was Noel and Noel knew just how to poke and prod him till he exploded. He’d never actually hit a woman and he couldn’t imagine hitting a pregnant one, especially not over her right to be a mother. Jaxon wasn’t perfect by any means but thank God he wasn’t that bad. For a moment, Jaxon didn’t really know what to say. He watched her for a moment and let his eyes drag over to Bryce, looking the boy over before turning his attention back to the boy’s mother. ”I’m glad you were strong enough to stand up to him. Bryce is a good kid.” He said after a moment, that darkness still hovering in his eyes. He didn’t know the man who’d helped her conceived Bryce and he hoped he never met him because he was sure that it wouldn’t end well for anyone, especially not Bryce’s father.
If not for Bryce, Jaxon would have likely never met Sienna. Maybe there was a chance they’d have met at a show or something but there were too many variables to know for sure. Looking down, Jaxon took a deep breath and shook his head some. Some people could be so disgusting. It surprised Jaxon how protective he was over the little boy who’d walked up to him not even an hour ago. Maybe it was because, for a brief moment, he was in charge of the kid. Maybe it was because in the moment, the kid reminded him of himself but the idea of someone taking away that boy’s right to live just started a fire that was going to take a bit of time to smolder out. Looking back at the boy’s mother as she talked of her likes and interests he smiled. He didn’t mind that she was going off on a tangent. Jaxon liked that she was passionate about something and was pursuing it. He nodded and just listening, a smile cracking his features as she apologized. ”Don’t be.” He assured her. ”It’s nice to meet a woman with a head on her shoulders. Especially when most women you meet nowadays are just interested in partying and finding a man to pay for everything they need.” He said with a nod.
Licking his lips, he swallowed. ”Look, I don’t usually do this, so bear with me please and I’m not even sure if you’re interested but if you are, I’d like to take you out sometime. Just us.” He said, dropping his gaze to the table and pursing his lips. Yea, that came out shittier than he’d expected it to. ”Don’t get me wrong, Bryce is a great kid and all but I just don’t think it’s fair, me coming into his life if I don’t know how long I’ll be there..” He said, looking back up at her and watching her face, waiting to see some sign of disapproval in the request. He didn’t know her stance on him at all but he knew his stance on her. She was pretty and he’d certainly like to get to know her better.

Sienna wasn't one to normally advertise the fact that Bryce's father had tried to beat her to the point that she had lost the baby. She didn't want that word of mouth getting back to her son. She never wanted to make him feel unloved or unwanted because that wasn't the case in the least. Times weren't always easy for them and sometimes money was tight, but that didn't mean that she regretted the fact that she had given birth to and started raising her little boy. She offered Jaxon a smile when he looked to Bryce and then to her again and told her that he was glad she had the strength to stand up to Bryce's father. "Me too." She nodded. "I don't know where I'd be without him in my life." Probably a druggie high school drop out with no future ahead of her. She could admit that to herself, even if she didn't want to advertise that fact either.
She laughed a little when he said that most women were looking to party and find a man to pay for everything that they needed. "That... may or may not have been me a few years ago." She said, shyly tucking a bit of hair behind her ear. "But things were different back then and life has a way of smartening you up when you need it most of all." She said. She didn't even need to look in Bryce's direction to let Jaxon know exactly who and what she was referring to. Her son had come into her life when she had needed to make an important decision about what kind of future she would lead for herself. And while it had been a hard lesson learned and one that she was still learning, she knew she was a better person for it all.
She blinked at the man in front of her as he started speaking again and she had to admit that she was more than just a little surprised at what he was saying. Despite the fact that she was a single mother who worked her butt off trying to provide a present and future for her son, the man in front of her was still interested. She was speechless for a moment, her mouth opening and closing as she searched for the words to say what she wanted to say. And the fact that he had mentioned Bryce and the fact that he didn't want to come into her son's life in that way without knowing if he would stick around... that was the icing on the cake right there. How the hell had she met this man again?
"Yes!" She blurted out and then turned a nice shade of pink a moment later as she swallowed. "I mean... I'd like that. A lot." She nodded. Her father was going to do the whole disapproving glare thing when she told him that she had a date with a man she'd met at a mall, for crying out loud but... this was different. Jaxon was different and she'd be absolutely insane to not jump at the opportunity and at least see where things wound up leading the pair of them. "Uhmm... Maybe you can call me tomorrow once I figure out when I can get my father to watch Bryce for a bit?" She suggested with a small smile, the pink still staining her cheeks in the moment. Lord, it had been too long since she'd dated.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] Jaxon smiled a bit as she said she didn’t know where she would have been without Bryce. ”I could bet that you wouldn’t be sitting at a table in the mall eating pizza with a stranger.” He mused, taking another sip of his soda, eyes drifting away from Sienna to Bryce and back again. He’d heard his own mother use such a sentiment multiple times over the years. Raising Noel had been no easy task and Isobel would look at him, her ‘good’ child, and confessed that she’d have lost her sanity if not for him and Colt, Jaxon’s adopted father. It was because they, mainly Colt, had kept her grounded. They’d pulled her off that cloud she’d been living on and brought her down to earth to show her that life there could be much more beautiful than live on the clouds. And Iso never let them forget that. So Jaxon knew what it was like to be on the other side of that sentiment, even if it had probably meant more to him since he knew what life was like before he’d had a mom.
Chuckling, Jaxon looked up at her, tilting his head some. ”I don’t believe that.” He joked and nodded his agreement. ”Life always gives you just want you need when you need it.” He mused a hand through his hair. ”Wonder how it’s going to straighten up my sister.” He said, thinking out loud a bit but using the statement to let her into his life a little more. Now, from the natural flow of conversation, he’d told her that he had a sister and in doing so, he’d opened the door to his life a little, allowing her to pry some. This way, when she walked away from this meeting, Sienna didn’t feel like he knew more about her than she did him and get nervous. That was the last thing he wanted to do.
As she searched for the words to say, Jaxon just sat there quietly, letting her organize her thoughts. He figured she was finding a million reasons why they shouldn’t go out and a nice way to turn him down. It was alright though. He wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. He knew that so if Sienna decided to tell him no, he would just take it on the chin and keep his head held high. It was a long jump for sure. They’d met each other all of an hour ago and he was asking to see her again. On top of that, she was a single mother so her schedule probably didn’t merit much time for men. Jaxon’s gaze fell a little as he was preparing to accept that but then her answer came out and he lifted his gaze to hers, surprised by her answer.
It took a second but Jaxon’s lips curled into a bit of a smile and he perked up some. ”Oh. Awesome.” He chuckled out a little sheepishly. Despite appearances, Jaxon wasn’t all that great at the emotional aspect of a relationship. He did the physical shit just fine but Jaxon had difficulty truly letting people into his mind. It’s why he was twenty-six and still alone. Ok, most people probably didn’t think anything of being twenty-six and alone but Jaxon did. His parents were married at his age. Of course his father was only twenty-five when he’d decided to marry Isobel and Isobel was only twenty-one but still. ”Yea.” Jaxon nodded as she admitted she had to wait to hear from her father before they could really make plans. ”Just let me know when he’s available.” He chuckled sheepishly. ”My schedule is pretty clear.”

She had to laugh when he said that she wouldn't have been sitting at a table in the mall eating pizza with a stranger. "No, I definitely wouldn't be doing that." She admitted. And she knew that, if something came of this, she'd have to thank her son for it in the future. Perhaps when he was old enough to understand what the hell a relationship was. Perhaps once he understood that not all men in her life were going to wind up terrifying the pants off of him. Bryce had only really ever had interaction with his father and his grandfather on that front. And while his grandfather was a whole other story, his father was a complete stranger to him and the man terrified him. Not that she could blame the boy in the least.
She laughed again when he said that he didn't believe that that had been her a few years ago. "Well, believe it or not, it's true. I made a lot of really poor decisions when I was younger. Some would say that getting pregnant so young was one of them and... well I agree with that to some extent..." She shook her head. "I could never regret having that little boy in my life." She admitted. Maybe she sounded like a complete and utter lunatic, but there wasn't much to be done about it. It was genuinely how she felt about the situation and about having her son in her life. "Your sister a bit of a hard case then?" She asked, tilting her head to the side a little bit. It seemed that the pair of them were in a bit of a sharing mood at the moment.
But she couldn't believe that this was happening to her. She'd actually kind of just set herself up for a date here. She just needed to talk to her father about it all. She didn't doubt that, as soon as she was done lunch with Jaxon and she and Bryce were on their own, she'd be calling her father immediately to let him in on what was happening. She knew her father was going to wind up being a bit skeptical about it all, but at the end of it, she knew that he'd see reason on a few key points about her story alone. No man who was inherently bad or just didn't give a damn would have lifted a little boy up on his shoulders so that he could find his mother in a crowded mall. No bad man would have offered to help her carry her bags and then offer to buy the pair of them lunch - let alone insist when she tried to decline. She truly believed that Jaxon was a good guy... one of the rare few in the world.
But something about the way he reacted told her that he hadn't been expecting her to say yes to the offer of going out, just the two of them. And that brought a lot of questions to her mind. Sure, his appearance was a little unconventional, but hell... one just had to look at her to understand that she was an unconventional girl. She actually found him quite attractive - the rest of the world be damned. So what the hell was it? She knew she couldn't possibly have been the only girl in the world to find him to be good looking. She was curious about him. Very curious about him. "Give me your cell phone." She said, waving her hand towards him. She was going to make damned sure that he understood that she wasn't looking for a quick escape to run from him. "I'm going to program my number into your phone."

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] Jaxon smirked. Helping that little boy was really starting to pay off, not that his actions were done with the intent of pay out. In all honesty, when Jaxon had lifted the little blonde up, he had expected to have him point and the little boy call out for his mommy or daddy, and then return to boy to his parents and be on his way. He didn’t have anything to do so it wasn’t like lunch with the woman was inconvenient or anything of that sort. He just hadn’t been expecting it, especially not getting the time of day from the little lad’s mother. Now here he was, sitting there, listening to her stories and sharing his own. The more she talked, the more he liked her for more than her inked physical form. The kid was cute too and not some sort of extra baggage like some men might have thought but, if Jaxon and Sienna had anything, the boy would be a gift to Jaxon, just like he had been a gift to Isobel.
Nodding some, Jaxon leaned back in his chair, folding his arms behind his head and stretching a bit. He took advantage of the position he was in and flexed his arm muscles some, letting out a quiet groan as he stretched before relaxing and looking across at her. ”I understand. I, sort of use to be that little boy that was unexpected, unplanned and irreplaceable.” He said with a nod. In all honesty, he wasn’t ready to tell her about that bit of his life. If she pursued it, Jaxon wouldn’t deny her the answers to the questions she asked but unlike his sister, he wasn’t just going to come out and tell her he was adopted. ”She’s naïve. Doesn’t think about the consequences of her actions.” Jaxon informed her, rocking in his chair a little before leaning back in to talk to her so he didn’t have to fight over the roar of the people around them. ”She’s going to end up pregnant or dead one of these days.” He said a little solemnly. Sienna may have gotten pregnant and survived but Noel wasn’t Sienna. Jaxon didn’t think that his sister would handle a baby like Sienna had.
As she requested his phone, he smirked a bit and tucked his hand into his pocket, extending the phone to her. He didn’t check it to make sure there were no messages he needed to hide, he didn’t open up to contacts for her to keep her from going through and seeing the names that he had, he just handed it to her. There was no one special in his life, no shameless booty calls. There were a few friends that he might have slept with occasionally but he still handed her to phone without so much as hesitating to show her he had nothing to hide. He gave her a little smile. ”Text yourself when you’re done so that you have my number.” He said, nodding some. ”And don’t forget the contact picture..so I know who you are..” He teased. He wasn’t going to forget a name, face or personality like Sienna’s so in all reality, that wasn’t even a concern to him but he was shameless and wanted her picture in it anyway.

She tilted her head to the side a moment when he admitted that he had sort of been that little boy at one point in his life as well. She was curious, but she wasn't going to push the comment for the time being. She was hoping, maybe, at a later date, she might have the chance to find a little bit more about him, but she wasn't about to interrogate the man. She may not have been the best when it came to the concept of meeting men and whatnot, but at the same time, she wasn't completely oblivious. She knew well enough that interrogating a man wasn't the way to get to know him. That'd all come with time, permitted the fact that he actually gave her the time to get to know him.
Sienna offered him a small consolation smile when he spoke about his sister. By the sounds of things, his sister had been very much like she had been only a few years ago with the exception of the fact that Jaxon seemed to sincerely doubt that she would have been able to turn her life around if it came to that. Then again, Sienna had learned a lot of very important lessons in her life when she had found out that she was pregnant with Bryce. They were all lessons that she sincerely hoped that no other woman had to learn in the way that she had. She had once thought she was in love and that everything would wind up working out with Bryce's father. But she'd been wrong. She'd been incredibly wrong. It had only been the love for her unborn son that had gotten her out of an abusive situation that would have only gotten worse with time.
Sienna took note of the fact that he just handed the phone off to her. Nothing to hide apparently - not that she was going to go snooping through his phone or anything of the sort. He was honest and he was open and she really liked that. The last thing she wanted in her life was another Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hide type scenario. Bryce definitely didn't need that in his life either. She pulled up his contact book, typed in her name and her number and then saved the contact before sending herself off a quick text. Next, she gave him a cheeky look before she pulled up the camera on the phone and snapped a picture of herself making a kissy face at the screen - she couldn't resist. Once she'd saved that to her contact as well, she put the phone on the table and slid it back towards him. "There." She said.
She paused a moment to wave Bryce over to the pair of them again. "But we should really get going now, unfortunately. I have homework to do and my dad's going to be looking after Bryce while I do it, but he has to go out later tonight." She admitted. But she honestly would have loved to stay there and talk to him some more. She stood up from where she was seated a moment, bit down on her lower lip and looked at him. "Promise I'll call you?" She offered with a slight shrug of her shoulder.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] One thing Jaxon was sure of was that if Noel ended up in an abusive relationship, she’d probably be the abuser. Noel didn’t believe in love like most girls did. She didn’t believe in romance and the kindness of people’s hearts. In her eyes, every man wanted in her pants and every woman just wanted to talk shit about her. That was how she lived her life. She was confident and confrontational and underneath the surface she was deeply insecure and scared to let anyone in to have them let her down. But she was a fiery devil and Jaxon was certain she’d never find love. Their mother had been the same way till Colt had entered her life and flipped it upside down. Colt had been strong where he needed to and soft in all the right places and eventually, he just won Isobel over. That was a once in a lifetime sort of thing and Jax was sure that Noel wouldn’t have the same fortune.
As she took her picture, Jaxon chuckled brightly and nodded. As soon as she’d handed the phone back, he pulled up her contact picture to look it over. ”Very nice.” He praised, nodding. But his enjoyment was short lived as she declared it time for them to go. He looked up at her and over her a moment as she stood, he stood as well, nodding a bit. It was nice to meet someone who took responsibility of their situation. It seemed that he continually came face to face with people who blew off things like homework. ”Okay.” He said. In the back of his mind, he wondered if he did something wrong, something to offend her but he pushed his insecurities away to dwell on them later. Insecurity wasn’t an attractive quality in a man, especially not in a man as big as he was but it was something that seemed to run in his family. Maybe that’s what happened when your father was a famous rockstar. People tended to use you and you got cautious about who you let in. When you did take the leap of faith to let someone in, fear of rejection made you a nervous person. Jaxon didn’t want to come off nervous so he mostly stayed quiet.
”I’ll be looking for it.” He said with a smile, lifting some of her bags for her and offering them to her with a little smile. He would have offered to help her to the car but he got the feeling that this should be goodbye so he bit his tongue and forced his eyes away from Sienna to the little blonde that had introduced them. ”See ya little man.” He said, lifting his hand for a five.

She smiled at him when he said that the picture she'd taken was 'very nice'. She couldn't help the little blush that tinted her cheeks a moment later. She needed to learn to stop doing that around this man, apparently. Normally, she was pretty immune to any branch of flirting. She got more than enough of it at work as it stood and she had learned a long time ago to let it all just kind of roll off her shoulders and hit the floor. But when it was just her and this man, one on one, it was difficult to let it roll of her shoulders. Especially when she was as attracted to him as she was. Maybe that wasn't such a bad thing. In all honesty, it was probably about time that she started to contemplate getting back into any kind of a dating scene.
She offered him a small smile when he just said 'oh' to the fact that she had to leave. He sounded kind of put out by the fact that she was about to bolt and she felt a little bad about it. "I promise you, I'll make up the time I'm taking away in leaving now at a later date." She offered with a smile. She wanted to let him know that she wasn't just trying to get away from him at this point. She genuinely liked his company and liked being around him, but she needed to remain in a mindframe that kept her on task and on goal with the ten million things she had to do in her day. Otherwise, she was pretty damned sure that a whole hell of a lot of her life would wind up falling apart. She wasn't a control freak... she liked rolling with the punches when her life permitted it. Unfortunately, it didn't leave a lot of room for that.
"Me too." She smiled when he said he'd be looking forward to her calling. And she really would be looking forward to it. And she decided then and there that she wasn't going to be one of those girls who agonized over whether or not to call him right away and let him know when she could get her father to look after Bryce for a while. As soon as she had a definite answer from her father, she was darn well going to call him immediately and tell him. This man was just too much of a genuinely good guy to pass up the opportunity with. Sienna laughed a little as Bryce jumped up to give Jaxon a high five back. The toothy grin he gave the man was more than Sienna needed to see to know that her son had a serious case of hero worship going on for Jaxon. "Okay... I'll let you know as soon as I know." She said. "And I think I'll forgo the high five but..." She leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek, turning red immediately afterwards. "Thank you. For everything, Jaxon." And with that, she turned around and headed for the doors, trying not to think too much about the kiss she'd just planted on his cheek in front of her son.
"You liiiiiiiiiiike him, Mommy." Chimed in a little voice from beside her. She burst out laughing a little bit and shook her head. "You're too darn smart for your age, Bryce."
