letter-spacing: 10px; color: white; text-align: center;]all about me 10 significant days [/style]january third, 1990 - day of birth ariadne was the second child born to elyssa and david eyre, preceded by her elder brother, josh, who was five years older than herself. she was born at the hospital in myrtle beach a 2:07am, a healthy, bright eyed baby girl that received as much attention from family members as the new puppy down the block might. a novelty for a few days before the high pitched barking (or in this case, her crying) got on too many nerves and she became more of a nuisance. ariadne was raised mainly by nannies that her parents, having no shortage of money, hired. her brother, on the other hand, was their pride and joy, something that little ariadne wouldn't realize until far later. january 3rd, 1999 her ninth birthday should have been a happy occasion. there was a party. there were lots of people. there was a giant cake and a bouncy castle and all sorts of children, some that she had never met before. of course, with those children came lots of presents, and little aria received everything she could have hoped for... but among all of this one thing was plainly missing. her family. the servants of her family ran the party, brought out the food, served her like a princess. her parents had left at nine am that morning, travelling three hours away to a football game that her brother was playing in. he was the star of his junior team, at only fourteen, already showing a bright future in the sport. of course that had to be more important than their daughter's birthday. march 17th, 2008 it was on this day that the teenager raced home, running through the door, calling excitedly for her parents throughout the whole house, receiving only echoes in reply as she clutched the envelope that contained a letter declaring her acceptance to the university of south carolina where she would study to become a surgeon, something that had been her dream since childhood. when her parents returned home afterwards they were supportive. smiling. happy for her... and then they immediately transitioned the conversation into the possibility of her brother joining the nfl... and the girl's triumph was forgotten. june 17th, 2008 mis ariadne demetria eyre graduated top of her class. class president, shining example of a beautiful young woman, class valedictorian. she received praise from her teachers, thundrous applause as she crossed the stage to get her diploma beaming from ear to ear... until she looked out to the audience and saw her mother, head bent forwards, texting someone on her phone as her daughter accepted the most important scroll of her life thusfar. her father sat there with a bored expression beside his wife, as though there were a million places he'd rather be... only josh seemed happy for the new graduate, clapping and cheering for his baby sister... so it was for him that aria kept the smile on her face, though it had to be forced. august 26th, 2008 finally out of her family's shadows, it was with a big smile on her face that aria moved into her dorm room at her university, two hours away from where she had grown up, two hours away from her parents and their criticisms that made her feel worthless. she would describe it as a whole new world opening to her. her roommates were awesome, and an instant friendship bloomed. on her first day of classes everything just felt right. aria is a girl that has never questioned the path she's chosen for herself... at least, not up to that point. august 11th, 2010 aria had never been one for the party scene. at least, not the drinking part. she would go to parties and have a good time, laugh with friends, joke around... but she would never wake up in a strange guys bed with a pounding headache. her refusal to drink worked well for her brother who was a star in the nfl since his entry to it three years earlier. of course he was invited to all the big parties, and on this night aria was being his designated driver. she spent the evening at home, watching a movie until he called her at three am, at which time she climbed into her car and went to pick him up on a farm a half hour out of town. aria loved her brother, but when he had a bit of alcohol he tended to be... stupid, and aggressive. while driving back he somehow got the bright idea in his head that he should drive, unbuckling his seatbelt and urging her to pull over so that he could 'see how fast this baby can go'. aria, driving along at high speeds, protested... and something she said hit him the wrong way. the football star hit her across the face... and she lost control of the vehicle. they hit the ditch, flipped multiple times, and the car ended upside down. aria woke up in the hospital room, alone, where she was informed by doctors that she had only sustained a head injury, but her brother hadn't been so lucky... he was dead. august 13th, 2010 it was late evening, two days after the accident and over 24 hours after aria had woken up, when her parents came to see her, their expressions stony. the meeting quickly grew to raised voices, accusations that aria had been driving recklessly, that she hadn't been paying attention, that the accident had been her own fault. she protested, of course, insisting that it hadn't been her fault, that joshua had been acting stupid, that she'd been vigilant, but how vigilant could you be when punched in the face? the idea that their darling son would be so stupid was unfathomable to her parents. they called her a liar, a good for nothing bitch, and stormed out. august 16th, 2010 aria had been in the hospital and missed her brother's funeral. three days after she last saw her parents a servant came to pick her up from the hospital... but he didn't bring her home. in his vehicle were bags packed with her belongings. the servant drove her to the nearest hotel, explaining that mr. and mrs. eyre did not wish to speak to her anymore, that she had been effectively disowned from the family. a hotel had been payed for her to stay at until the end of the month, but after that point she was on her own. august 27th, 2010 being evicted from her family was terrifying enough after everything that had happened, but it took a while for things to sink in completely and for aria to realize what everything meant. since she was a child she had wanted to be a doctor, a surgeon, to help people. but university was not cheap. her family had had so much money, her parents had always paid for everything, she had had no reason to ever have a job. she was entirely unprepared to look after herself... and she didn't want to drop out of school. all jobs she could get with her experience wouldn't pay for university with a year of saving in her present situation. her future was crumbling before her eyes... and that was when she made a very, very hard decision. she was panicked, terrified, faced with a future that she had never anticipated... but there was a way that she could make money. a lot of it. money to live by, money to learn by... enough money to pay for her schooling, get an apartment if she did things right... and so, with only a few days left before her third year of schooling, aria became a prostitute. present day aria has been in her 'profession' for two years now. she has an apartment. she has money for education and money to pay for day-to-day expenses and then some. she hasn't seen her parents in two years, hasn't felt demeaned by them, and hasn't been called a 'worthless bitch'... and she is miserable. this is not the lifestyle she wanted for herself, but it is the only one that is able to keep her in schooling. she sees no other possibility, but she wishes she did. she hates her 'career', the scuzzy men she sees many nights... and lives in constant fear of what the people around her would think if they knew. her friends, her classmates, her professors... she has been careful to ensure that not one of them knows of what she does to put herself through schooling. the idea of being found out terrifies her... but two years, no damage, right? maybe she can keep up the streak for longer. |
