i love the shades of wrong and you were never a saint . the wind had actually soothed the girl to sleep, lulling her with the howl into a soft slumber that was interrupted with the rumbling of her stomach and the need to use the facitilies. waverly cursed the idea of chugging that entire can of iced tea as her eyes popped open, pulling her out of the pleasant dreams that had been occupying her thoughts. sighing softly, she pulled the covers from her body and was met with the frigid breeze that came from an open window. with eyebrow raised, she blinked for a moment, trying to recall the foggy memories that she had of the last few hours but she could not recall opening a window at any point, however the girl’s mind was never always there and she shrugged, thinking nothing of it. waverly pushed herself, forcing her body to move even though it just wanted to lie down and fall back into the dream realm once more. rubbing at her eyes, she adjusted to the darkness that had come to her apartment with the power outage and sighed, placing her feet onto the floor and yelping to the feeling of a rather cold sensation against her skin. ”what the dandy loving fuck is that!?” , calling into the darkness and staring at the dark floor that appeared endless in the surrounding darkness. reaching for the phone on the nightstand, she fumbled with the buttons but was able to get the screen to illuminate, using it as a flashlight. the first sound that she registered was the rather large amount of wind that rushing into her apartment in a loud howl, the particles smacking against the small holes where glass was missing, she raised an eyebrow to that, looking down at the floor and finally putting two and two together to come up with the conclusion that was half right. the water was pooling and her eyes widened, jumping off the bed and forgetting about the shards of glass on the ground or the fact that there was water on her floor. she moved to the window, trying to cover the holes with a blanket, a towel, moving to tape the pieces of fabric to the wall just to have them fall again. groaning, she gathered up some clothes in a bag, mismatching items from her drawers. she grabbed the picture frame off the nightstand of her family and friends, tried to put anything of sentimental value on higher shelves and then she was out the door. lifting the hood up as she slung the bags over her shoulders and grumbled with the phone tightly in her hand. ”did not think this through..” she mumbled, ”oh daisy cakes..”, deciding in the best possible place to go, only a few blocks away. those few block was a challenging walk with the wind, the rain and the large bag on her shoulder but she eventually made it to his apartment door, dropping the soaking wet back to the ground and pulling her hood back. slow knocks that grew into pounding as she grew impatient due to the wet, and cold situation that she was in, ”aceeee! rise and shine!” she called, her forehead hitting the door in annoyance until it slowly opened and she tumbled forward, grabbing onto the male himself for support, ”uh…hey.”.[/div]

[/style][/style] [style=text-align:center; text-size: 9px;]WORDS: 427 TAGGED: waverly <3 NOTES: :D yet another difference to adjust to in his new location: weather. farther inland, where ace had been born and raised, hurricanes were something he only saw on the news, heard his father making comments about the 'poor people', heard the teachers add to morning prayers that everyone should keep the victims and areas of the said hurricane in their thoughts. in his old town the most he needed to worry about were thunderstorms, the occasional blizzard, and perhaps a tornado or two touching down a few miles away from town. there was never anything as large scale as this hurricane going on to keep life exciting.
that being said, he was surprisingly relaxed. his apartment was on the third floor of one of the... shadier areas of town. he was pretty sure that he could hear an argument over a drug deal going on in the apartment beside him as he lay on top the blankets of his bed, unnaturally hot though it was quite cold in his room. a home was a home, though, and he wasn't complaining. sure, his home might not be the fanciest, the most conveniently located, or the best furnished, but it was fine for him. he didn't spend too much time here, either, working most days and spending his free time shopping or at the beach, relaxing only to come home to sleep. he couldn't work outside in the middle of a hurricane, though, and so had been confined to his apartment for the last day, flicking through the few books he owned by flashlight when the power went out, relaxing with the sound of the roaring wind crashing against the roof over his head.
he was half asleep, lying in the same position on his bed, flashlight turned off lying on the bedside table, when the pounding on his door began. at first it blended in to the noise outside. as its force intensified, rhythmic, though it captured ace's attention as he rubbed his eyes, rolling over to grab the flashlight, turned it on, and moved to the door, almost at it when the familiar voice called through the door, though he couldn't make out the words. placing the flashlight on a nearby table, bulb facing the ceiling and illuminating the room somewhat, he reached forward, unlocked the door, and pulled it open only to have the girl fall forward into him. ace's arms went to grab her, wrapping around her waist as he looked down, clearly surprised but still friendly. "nice of you to drop in, waves," he chuckled in his usual low voice, a moment later his tone turning more concerned. "what's going on? you okay?"[/style][/style]

this lovely template was made by Arro from Caution 2.0.

i love the shades of wrong and you were never a saint . her clothes and bags were soaking wet and she could feel her nightshirt sticking to her skin as well as her pajamas bottom. she was racked with guilt as it took a few minutes for the door to be opened which would mean that the male had probably taken the dark as a sign to sleep and had tucked himself into bed and her banging on the door would naturally, have woken him up. her forehead hit the door and a groan escaped her lips as a tremor ran down her spine due to the temperature of her warm skin now mixing with the cold fabric that was once her pajamas and now could be something more like a wetsuit. stumbling forward, she had not expected the door to fly open so fast and yelped as she collided into the male but quickly caught her balance with curled fingers around his shirt, pulling herself to a standing position, ”well was…y’know, in the neighborhood..” she started and then ran a hand through her damp tresses which were now setting to wave with the frigid water dripping off her strands and starting to dry. her hair was also becoming frizzy which resulted in the girl to fluff her hair after running her fingers through it, trying to smooth down the pesky fly aways, ”they should work the kinks out of the draining system, could probably take a few laps now..” she mumbled, starting to pull off her wet clothing as she backed out of his arms. her jacket was the first thing to go, then her sweater and then a vest which still left her in rather damp clothes. she sighed softly, shaking her head and looking down at the ground where her bags lay, ”the state of my now flooded apartment is going…south.”, trying to find the best phrase to use that was not vulgar as she just wanted to curse at the heavens at this moment for ruining not only her night but her friend’s as well. ”I got the gift of the gab and should really just..cut to the chase…” she finally said, kicking the bag closer to the door, momentary forgetting about the personal possessions that were zipped up in that bag, ”I will be out of your hair in a day or two but…I really need a place to rest my head tonight…”, indicating how tired she was with a small yawn which she covered with her hand, rubbing at her eyes after she was done to try and knock the sleep out of her but the trek here had actually worn her out and waverly needed to close her eyes and sleep now.[/div]

[/style][/style] [style=text-align:center; text-size: 9px;]WORDS: 427 TAGGED: waverly <3 NOTES: :D ”well was…y’know, in the neighborhood..” a quiet chuckle rumbled through the young man's throat. he was not a guy who constantly needed to get straight to the point. he found all of the little quirky comments and sidetracked quick conversations that came so often with other people, especially with someone as unique as waverly. ”they should work the kinks out of the draining system, could probably take a few laps now..” he couldn't see out too well into the darkness of the street beyond form his apartment, but from the sound of the rain pounding against his roof e would guess that her exaggeration may not be too extreme. "well, the pool was always expensive to get into and the ocean is annoyingly salty..." he shrugged with a small smile.
”the state of my now flooded apartment is going…south.”, oh. that explained things pretty nicely. ace was lucky- he'd boarded up his windows, well, those that he could, and so far none of them had shattered, but he imagined that many other people in the city weren't so lucky. basements would flood. trees would fall, branches would be flung through glass... a home could be a safe haven or a very dangerous place depending on how lucky a person was, and it seemed that, for once, luck was on ace's side.
”I will be out of your hair in a day or two but…I really need a place to rest my head tonight…”, "don't worry about it," ace shrugged, smiling again as he bent down to pick up her bags off of the ground, ignoring the wet spot they left on the carpet. "you can stay as long as you need. i'll enjoy the company." he was sincere about it, too. being social had taken a bit of getting used to, but bumping into waverly that day had been like a breakthrough that had helped him develop more relationships with others. he enjoyed other people's company, especially waverly's. turning her away wasn't even a vague idea flashing through his mind. he moved towards his room, expecting his friend to follow. "c'mon, let's get you set up in the bedroom so that you can get try and get some sleep." [/style][/style]

this lovely template was made by Arro from Caution 2.0.

i love the shades of wrong and you were never a saint . waverly would be lying if she said that she did not notice a change in ace’s personality to the idea of a social gathering, but she nevre credited herself for the new found enjoyment of other people’s company. she just believed that he was coming out of his shell and she enjoyed this side of him a lot but there was a part of her that really enjoyed the quiet side too and she was curious to see how the other half lived as her apartment was in a safe neighborhood, surrounded by a fence with grass that was cut to a certain length every week, her neighbors were elderly and often baked pies instead of baking homemade pot brownies as ace’s neighbors had offered her as she had wondered onto his doorstep. she had respectfully declined finding herself to already be to strange for society and did not need the aid of a drug to exasperate it even further. giving a sheepish grin as he decided to play along with her comment about taking a swim, giving a light chuckle and covering her mouth when the sound was actually parted from her lips, ”yea so the city decided to make a street pool right outside of our doors, but I think they got a little over their heads..” , giving another chuckle to her own pun before shaking her head and running a hand through her soaking tresses. she did not actually mean to track the water into the house, taking no notice of the state of both herself or her possessions until she actually shed the coat and found that even her under clothes were soaking wet from the force of mother nature. ”it’s actually rather dicey out there but alas, the storm should pass by oh..december..” she muttered, feeling like the rain and wind was going to be never ending and they would have to adapt to living in a place that resembled that fictional town in a book that waverly could not remember the title of but the town was all about the rain. ”but I should be out of your hair by then, I swear it.”, holding up her hand and trying to form the girl scout salute that she was taught but failing and instead giving a peace sign to seal the deal before raising an eyebrow, ”okay, but I’m no stick in the mud but I’m no life of the party either..”, giving a shrug. waverly was just average, it was how she was described, it was the first word that came to mind when people thought of her, she was nothing special and never really thought herself as such. ”no no that’s being a burden, you sleep in the bed, I sleep on the couch.”, speaking as though it was an instructional video and staring at the floor for a moment before realizing that his feet were no longer infront of her and picking her head up as she noticed he was moving for the bedroom, ”ace!” she called out, shutting the door behind her and bolting it before rushing to follow along, ”this is such a bother for you..” she muttered, but the idea was tempting but waverly had to be a good guest but also a good friend and the two were currently conflicting in her mind[/div]

[/style][/style] [style=text-align:center; text-size: 9px;]WORDS: 427 TAGGED: waverly <3 NOTES: :D there was absolutely no way that ace was going to let a guest sleep on the couch, especially if they were a woman. a guy he could perhaps understand, but waverly was nothing like a guy and he imagined that after the night she must have had she would need her rest. she wasn't about to get that on the stiff couch that had probably been in this apartment for the previous twenty tenants and was now worn down to the springs. he might have been raised by someone who had turned out to be a bastard of a man, but he had still initially been raised to know his manners, and manners dictated that a lady should never be shoved aside to sleep on a creaky, uncomfortable couch.
he didn't listen to her protests, easily carrying her bags to his bedroom, placing them at the foot of the bed. the furnishings in the room were quite simple. a dresser, mirror, a king sized bed, end table, lamp, and all alone against one wall a small antique covered desk, the kind with a cover that folded over the desk itself, currently with the top down, as ace usually kept it. within the desk were things he'd prefer no one find out about, and because he wasn't necessarily proud of its contents himself, he usually kept it closed for his own sanity. "waves, listen to me. it's no bother at all. you need your rest, and unlike everything else in this apartment my bed's new, therefore comfortable. i'll get as much rest as i need on the couch, i promise." and that amount of rest wasn't much. his nights were usually plagued by one 'dream' or another that left him gasping for air as he woke up, terrified or otherwise upset, so he'd become accustomed to little sleep. he'd get more than enough on the couch, however stiff it was.
