[atrb=border,0,true] tucking her younger sister in was harder than she expected and bailey had nearly fallen asleep during the process of retelling story after story to the young girl. after brushing a strand of hair from catherine’s relaxed, sleepfilled face, bailey crept down the stairs with nothing but a creak of the floorboards to alert anyone of movement. passing by her mother’s room, she peered in to see the same picture that she had seen for the last seven or eight years which included a static lump under the covers and a half-eaten dinner on the floor. shaking her head, she slipped her arms through her coat and ducked out of the house with very little noise. she needed to make this food venture fast, but at the same time, she wanted to prolong it for as long as she could. with a light headed feeling and a growling stomach, her jacket was zipped up and hid any evidence of a life growing in her as she strolled down the sidewalk. ignoring any calls that came from passing cars or passing people, the neighbourhood scene slowly turned from grungy to respectable as the best chinese food place in town was only a short walk down a few bad streets but it felt like a whole different world to the girl. brushing a hand through her hair, she side swept a couple who had stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and put a hand on her stomach in order to protect the child inside of her. she had no idea where the sudden protective streak came from but it was refreshing and she could feel a sense of maternal instincts fill her as she opened the door to the food place, spotting kyle almost instantly. her watch told her that she nearly fifteen minutes late and had nothing to blame it on except for her slower pace these days, ”hey..” |
, lifting a hand as a friendly gesture. unsure of how to even approach him, she made a beeline for the male, stopping at the table and dropping into the seat across from him, ”not moving so fast these days…sorry to keep you.” but bailey wondered if she even had an obligation to this male. sighing, she reached the menu that was on the table and peered at the prices with an inwardly wince, trying to work the budget out in her head and how much she could actually spend on this dinner without crossing the line.[/div]

[/style] [atrb=border,0,true] well, that had been... a whirlwind. he'd wanted to log on to the chatroom to see if some of his friends were on, pals that he could joke around with and relax because he was talking to them... and instead he got the very object of his stress lately. it wasn't that she was a terrible person or anything, kyle just didn't know what to make of her. she was fine for a one night stand, pefectly friendly to meet once or twice, but their situation made people act weird, and when people acted weird they often weren't really good for any sort of socializing. and they needed socializing, if this was going to work. that was why, though he'd been tempted many times just to log off without a word while talking to her, kyle had suggested this meeting. they weren't going to get much out of each other over a chat room, and they were connected for the rest of their lives now, so... well, they might as well meet each other face to face. it was easier to read others when you could see their eyes.
pretty much as soon as he had signed off the chatroom kyle had grabbed his coat and headed out the door. one of the benefits of christmas was that his roommate wasn't around, therefore kyle was able to avoid the annoying questions and curious glances of where he was going. normally he would be staying at his own house for the holidays, but with his sister and mother gone he didn't see the point. he was just as comfortable in his dorm as he was across town in an empty house. all of his things were in his dorm, anyway. he didn't feel like going through the effort of packing them up, so basically laziness was his reasoning for staying in his dorm over the holidays, or at least until his family came home.
a shiver ran through his body when he swung himself into the front seat of his car, as though the cool air outside was just hitting him. his fingers fumbled with the keys in his grasp to put them in the ignition, the roar of his engine coming to life bringing a small smile to his lips with the thought that soon it would be warmer. a quick drive brought him to his destination where he found the closest parking lot and, shortly after, a table inside the restaurant, and then began the waiting game...
”hey..” he glanced up from the table that he'd been staring at, lost in his thoughts. "hey." ”not moving so fast these days…sorry to keep you.” he was shaking her head even before she apologized, "don't worry about it. i have nowhere i need to be." he'd already decided on what he was going to have, so he had nothing to do as she glanced at the menu, and it was with a small frown that he noted her wincing, presumably at the prices. "i don't want to be that asshole that makes someone go out somewhere with them and spend their own money even if they hadn't wanted to go out. i can pick up the tab, if you want."

[atrb=border,0,true] awkward was too good of a word to describe what was happening in the meeting of the one night stand partners, now forced together by a unforeseen circumstance that was growing inside of her at a rapid rate. she felt as though yesterday was the day of the pregnancy test, the day that her life changed but that was nearly two weeks ago and this was the first time that the two of them would be meeting since then. news of the mystery bump had already began at her workplace but her siblings were too naïve to notice the changes in their sister and her mother was too clamed up in her own room and her own mind to notice anything new with her daughter, so bailey felt more alone in this than she actually was. tugging the two sides of her jacket, the zipper broken now, she kept the cold out by overlapping the two sides and crossing her arms against her chest which was a sign not to be bothered at the same time and it seemed to work as no one really made a comment to her while making the journey from her house to the meeting spot. approaching the place was a little harder and bailey ended up pacing outside for a few seconds before swallowing any pride and fear that was bubbling in her throat and walked into the place. he was already seated, seemed to have been established in his order as the menu was still in the center of the place setting, untouched. ”kind of shocking..” |
she muttered when he mentioned not having any plans. it seemed that kyle was the social butterfly of the two, able to flit from person to person and blend in while bailey was a take it or leave it kind of girl and that was her philosophy for life. glancing at the menu, she had not noticed that her facial expressions were on display and raised an eyebrow to him, ”no no…it’s just my appetite has grown..’ even though bailey had always been the kind of girl to eat large quantities of food at one time, ”the kid is already burning a hole in my wallet, but I think I can swing this..”, muttering the last part while deciding on her order and knowing that it would be changing before the waitress even got to them. leaning back in her chair, she shrugged her jacket off her shoulders and draped it over the back of her chair before turning to look at him, ”so I guess we should play like twenty questions or something…we have to get to know each other somehow..”. physically, they knew each other well but bailey had no knowledge of really anything besides the basics of his life and they were in this for the long run, and obviously had a long way to go.[/div]
