[style=background-color: #65727A; border: 10px solid #65727A; font-family: georgia; letter-spacing: 10px; color: white; text-align: center;]all about me Glittering stilettos. The strong fragrance of perfume wafting up her nostrils. The smell of burning hair from the end of a curling iron, the smoke mixing with the cigarette's fume.
maddie woke up to this every single evening, without fail. each morning, she would go to school - thankfully, she had school - and every time she would pretend that she lived in a nice family home, like her classmates from the suburbs. she would weave a facade so intricate so that people wouldn't realize she didn't know her father, hadn't seen him since she was four years old. the man had no direct bearing to maddie and mom, now. no bearing because he didn't have enough balls to stay--
she pinched herself every time her thoughts wander too far. that's what mom did, whenever she was being "tactless" or "insensitive". whenever she asked about the man who was her father. pinch. whenever she asked about where mom goes at night, and why she had to dress up so much. pinch, pinch. pretty soon, she learned when to stop talking... or just pinch herself, to get it over with. although maddie found her mom an intimidating enigma, she still tried to connect with her. like any kid, like any daughter, she wanted to feel that bond with her mom.
so she tried to help anyway she can. even though she got smacked at the back of her head for "getting in the way, you little whore", maddie didn't fight back. maybe she was the reason why her mom was that way, you know? there wasn't any other explanation her mind could find... so she stuck with that. bear with the pain, the punishment she thought she deserved.
