Angel was actually expected to be a girl, hence his name. It was actually an awkward surprise that sunny spring morning, when the Sweets family welcomed a baby boy into their growing family instead of a little girl. There had been much debate among Joy and Kurt as to change the name they had chosen for their expected little girl, but kept the name Angel and replaced the forgotten Remy with Robert after Kurt's own father. Growing up had been easy for Angel. He was the second of six, and slowly became one of the forgotten children along with his younger sister, Marianne, something he didn't mind much. Angel kept to himself as a kid, listening and learning rather than speaking up. He wasn't a shy kid, in fact he was quite the opposite, but he was quiet. He didn't like to talk very much. He liked to listen to people and learn about them, instead of them learning about him. He felt that he never had a story to tell, or anything to say so he kept quiet and let the other person do the talking. It was one of many reasons why he chose to become a psychologist later in life. His childhood and teens years were much a blur to him. He didn't have many friends, which was fine with him. He much rather study than hang out or go to parties. Which turned out lucky for him, because he had gotten accepted into Yale, and soon ventured from the lavish city life to a much quieter life on the Yale campus, where he continued his life of quiet nights with a book or two, and outstanding grades. During his time at Yale, Angel had met a girl. Cute little blond thing, and he fell in love with her. The two of them dated for a short while, but soon another man came and swept the girl off her feet, much to Angel's own dismay. After that, he fell into a short-lived depression that took a toll on him. His grades slipped, as did everything else around him. He had almost been kicked out of school because o his grades, but when he had found out that the girl had gotten pregnant, he felt a little better. Why? Because it wasn't him that would have to deal with the consequences, but the other man. He knew that he wasn't ready for a baby, and dodging a bullet that size turned his life back around, and he redeemed himself and his grades. The man graduated in the top ten of his class, with a degree in clinical psychology before moving forward to grab his PhD and further his career. After receiving his PhD, Angel moved to Myrtle Beach, where he has been for the last year an a half, with his own practice, counseling everyone from the elderly to suicidal teens. He has yet to make a name for himself, but he doesn't quite want to. He just likes being able to help the people he talks to, and listening to their stories. |
