shedding his second skin and hanging it up after a tiring day had a rewarding feeling. with a sigh, his locker door was shut and he leaned his back against it, tilting his head up and taking in a deep breath before exhaling slowly, his chest rising and falling at an even pace now. the day had been rather uneventful and edward could swear that he heard his bed calling his name from a distance away but his stomach was making a distress call itself and edward had a feeling that the hunger would come before sleep. slipping a clean shirt over his head and tying up his shoe laces, edward made idle chit chat for a few minutes when a fellow officer added to the pressure of having to be social when he walked into the room, his own shift just beginning. speaking of the day, edward realized that he accomplished very little in the long hours of his shift and felt a sting of disappointment that only a frozen treat would satisfy at this moment. departing with a handshake and his best wishes to a safe shift, edward exited the locker room with his keys swinging on his finger and a tune being emitted from his lips as he walked into the parking lot of the police station and approached the rustic car. sliding his finger along the cooled hood, he shook his head to the sudden chills that he got down his spine as a result of the contact between the cold metal and his warm skin. opening the door, edward slipped in and made himself comfortable all while tossing his bag onto his seat and checking for anything being out of place. he looked to the gas gauge as the key turned in the ignition and blinked as dial was closest to the fifth letter in the alphabet and his car churned and chugged before taking off at a smooth pace. the gas station was now the first stop with the attached store in which he could get his fill for his hunger and then proceed home, it sounded like a smooth idea in the male’s head and he could hardly think of a reason why it would not actually occur.
overlooking the cashier after having parked the car by the pump that he would be using to fill his car, at least enough to get him home for the night, edward wandered through the aisles in an attempt to find something that would soothe the rumbling stomach, allowing it to pick the food of choice rather than his own mind. a corndog caught his eye, and his stomach’s attention, and he peeled back the plastic covering to take it from the container. raising an eyebrow, he lifted it from the turning dials and flipped it around using the stick as leverage to see what exactly was wrong with it but he found nothing but a satisfying aroma and a need to eat it. grinning, he reached for a napkin and wrapped the small meal into it before moving to the fridge and grabbing a drink that he would wash his meal down with. approaching the counter, he placed both items on the counter before avoiding eye contact for a moment and reaching into his back pocket for his wallet. retrieving the worn out leather wallet from his pocket, he dropped it onto the counter and finally peered up into the eyes of a rather enchanting looking blonde. edward’s first instinct was to lie about the corndog not being his but his stomach would not be hearing that because it would be munched upon as he walked out the door, so that option was out the door. ”well hi.” [/b] he spoke with a cool tone, smooth with the ability to slice the once small tension that rested between them, ”so yea, that’s…everything. though I’m mulling over a gum purchase, what do you think?”[/b] he asked while reaching for two different brands of gum. lifting them into the air to be adjacent to his ears, he flashed the diverse brand name, one being mint flavored and the other containing a more fruity appearance and all the while grinning. a flirt by nature, he found this girl to be beautiful and the instinct to be the dominant male, a hero, to be looked on with adoring eyes kicked in along with a charming smile and a slightly goofy style to his charm.[/div][/center] tag: lauren/rosie <3 words: 786 outfit: clickynotes: edward the knight to the rescue and you also have full control over the robbers.

Work was never something Rosie enjoyed all that much. She had yet to find a job which she actually looked forward to. It wasn't too bad once she was there but she would still prefer to be somewhere else. The one good thing about working the night shift was that past a certain point, it was nearly empty for hours. That meant she could read her book without being interrupted all the time. Rosie also liked the fact she didn't really have to wear a uniform. There wasn't much point when she would serve a total of 20 customers over her shift. She did have to wear black so with black jeans, a black shirt and cardigan she was set. The first hour went quickly with 10 customers. The first hour or two were always the quickest. once it had been quiet for a while Rosie dared to get out her book and sit back, diving into the story she hadn't been able to stop reading. It wasn't long however until a car pulled up outside. Rosie didn't bother to look up, knowing they'd most likely be a while putting petrol in their car. When the door opened she finally put down her book with a sigh. She stood from her seat and waited patiently behind the counter, not bothering to watch as she studied her nails. Then when the customer finally approached the counter she looked at him and raised an eyebrow in appreciation. He definitely wasn't hard on the eyes and that was unusual for a customer at this time. Rosie smirked at his meal and started scanning them. He seemed to finally look up at her and she couldn't help but smile at the fact his whole demeanor changed. He obviously didn't mind what he saw. She nodded with a smirk as he told her that was it. She was about to tell him the total when he started talking about gum. She couldn't decide whether or not he actually wanted gum or if he was just stalling. Of course when he held it up and grinned at her it was obvious which of the options applied to him. Customers like this were rare on the late shift so of course Rosie had to take full advantage of the situation. "Well it depends, are you fun or boring?" She asked as she lent on the counter. She couldn't keep the face for long though so she stood straight again, shaking her head and grinning. Another set of lights pulling in drew her attention to the window as she saw anther car pull in. It was surprising since there weren't usually two customers there at a time. She turned back to the handsome man standing in front of her with a questioning look. "So which do you choose? Boring or fun? Oh and I'm guessing you're paying for the fuel as well?" She asked smiling as she added it to his total. The bell of the door not bothering her at all as the other customers walked in. the timing of the flirtatious exchange was a little inconvenient on his part but edward was a master of working with what he had and at this moment, off his shift and just a little hungry, he had all the time in the world. the blonde was rather beautiful and any man that refuted that point would be lying but the hurt in her eyes was what caught his attention, there was something real and haunting about her that had his attention at the get-go. lifting the two packs of gum with an amused smile tugging at the corner of his lips, he lifted them up and tilted his head to the side at her questioning. edward had to analyze the answer for a moment for it seemed that he was rather boring when in uniform and his life was hardly exciting but it appeared that she wanted to know the truth about who he was, and edward was not going to deny a woman the truth. too honest for his own good, he peered at the fruity pack of gum and wrinkled his nose, tossing it back into the empty spot on the stand and nodded, ”mint still has flavor, has a bit of a kick…I think it’s more fun?’ [/i] he shrugged his shoulders in her direction and tossed the gum into the mix of purchases that he noticed were all things edible. it appeared that his first appearance, flirting and eating, was not exactly going as he had planned when first setting eyes on her but edward would play with what he had as always and gave her a chuckle, ”which would you have taken? the breezy mint or the exciting fruit?”[/i] his eyebrow raising with a follow up to his question. ”I’m edward by the way..”[/i], figuring that introductions needed to be given at this time as they had already learned each other’s favorite gum choice. his attention was so lost on the girl that the chiming of the bell was not noticed and neither was the presence behind him until it felt as though someone was literally breathing down his neck. police instincts did not take over at this moment an instead, edward took a small step forward to the feeling of something touching his lower back. he was unsure of what the object was but hoped it was a purchase that was poking into him and not some male being excited by him, or worse, the cashier. the audible click was noticeable though and his eyes suddenly widened to the knowledge of what had actually been poked into his back and as he picked his head up, he noticed that the cashier had the same predicament happening to her as well. ”woah woah…” he spoke while lifting his arms to where they could be seen as the action was already being barked at him and he nodded in response. he looked to the girl with a reassuring but quirky smile, trying to keep her calm and not drive into hysterics which would end up annoying and most likely, aggravating the two or three males. he needed to keep everyone calm but alerting anyone that he was an officer would be a bad move as well, and edward was at a loss of what to do right now. ”okay…darling, just do what they say..”[/i], his hands now resting on the counter as he was ordered to and glancing at the corndog which came with a rumble of his stomach. he noticed that one of the masked males had already cracked open the register and was taking whatever he wanted, with an arm wrapped around the cashier to keep her in check. worry lines formed on edward’s forehead as he noticed the male whispering something every few seconds and turned to look at his own assailant who was just standing there, appearing to be the brawn of the group. ”okay…did you get what you want? I think you need to leave now..”[/i] spoke edward cooly while his fingers inched closer to the corndog that was meant to be ingested but would be used as a weapon if the situation came to it. the gun was pressed harder into his back and he pretended that it pained him, giving an audible wince as he looked to the girl, checking her over for any damage. the moment was about to become right but he needed another minute to see all the options that could be had before making this move. ”you’re okay darling…you’re going to be okay..”[/i] he reassured her once more with his words before his fingers fully wrapped around the body of the corn dog, the stick poised and ready to be launched.
