[img src="http://i47.tinypic.com/np5pnp.jpg "] Working at the hospital seemed to be having it's ups and downs. First, the ups of the situation were all Sam had to do was sit behind a desk and answer phones for a while, and enter patient information, which also let her look at all the problems wrong with te people in the hospital. Damn, she didn't know there could be that much variety. On the downside she had to deal with things like, dilerious men, and answer questions about how to fill out the stupid forms that everyone has do. Luckily for her, it was just part time and she could go back to her other job any time that she damn well please, which would come soon. Most of the time if she wasn't doing any of the other things, she was just sitting there, doing nothing with her life, hoping she could maybe catch a glimpse of a certain cute doctor every once in a while. She had seen him pass a few times at the other end of the hall, just wishing he would come down and talk to her. But he probably had more important doctor things to attend to.
Sam sat behind the desk, typing in information. it wasn't long before she realized she was able to go on break "Hey, Marie, i'm takin a break" She said nicely to the woman sitting at the other side of the desk. Standing up, Sam walked casually into the lounge for employees. It was nice to have a little private room, an escape from all the boring white hospitalness that was there. Walking in, she was down on her cups of coffee for the day, so she poured one right away. Sam stood there against the counter of the lounge, waiting for the coffee to beep so she could get her fix for the next four hours she would be working that day. The beep sounded, and the coffee was poured, she set it down in front of her as she added all the unnecessary sugars and sweeteners "I swear, I'm gonna get fat just from coffee.." She mumbled to herself.

sam had to admit, working at the hospital full time like he was was a hell of a lot different from what he had expected. he really wasn't complaining though, to be honest; he was a busy body type. he was always up to something, whether it pertained to the hospital usually varied, though. more often than not, however, he was off on a medical tangent or talking about how stupid some of the interns he was working with were. in all fairness, he was in the same boat as all the other interns, as that was exactly what he was, but that didn't stop him from judging them and hating them all. sure, there were a few they he could get along with, and an even more elite few he would associate himself with outside of the hospital. sam only liked a special type of person to hang around with. getting his attention usually wasn't hard, but that was merely because keeping it was, truthfully, the hard part.
which, one person in particular, had managed to do. in fact, was adorned in nurse scrubs (despite not being a nurse) and was sitting behind a desk, tapping away at the computer or helping people fill out their forms - at least, that's what sam saw whenever he passed by the lobby. much to his displeasure, he never actually got a chance to go through the lobby, which would grant him the ability to small talk with the cute redhead. but he was busy, and sam wasn't about to waste his education by wasting his time, which meant he had to time his break perfectly with hers if he was going to get a chance to speak with her.
fate was on his side for the moment. as soon as he walked into the staff break room, which was really only a small area in the cafeteria designated specifically for staff and done up a bit nicer than the rest of the cafe, he noticed her and instantly maneuvered his way through doctors and nurses alike to reach her. he heard her mumbling to herself and caught himself grinning as he walked up to her. some girls just never knew how endearing little things like that were.
reaching under her arm and around her waist, he grabbed a styrofoam cup from the stack of cups next to the coffee maker and cleared his throat. "scrubs look absolutely dashing on you, sam." he teased, poking her side with his free hand.

[img src="http://i47.tinypic.com/np5pnp.jpg "] It was nice to have a few minutes to herself to drink her coffee in peace. Although she didn't have that large of a job to do, it was still dealing with idiots that couldn't seem to figure things out for themselves. As Sam stirred the mixtrue around in the cup, she saw an arm move across her. It was built, smooth looking, and her cheeks just about lit on fire for how red they were. Sam heard him speak to her, telling her that she looked good in scrubs. Turning around, she smiled at him "Well now, doctor, you don't look too bad yourself. Although I think I look better in hospital gear if you ask me" She teased, lifting the coffee up to her mouth and taking a sip.
She lifted up the coffee pot, "want some?" She asked him, laughing under her breath, remembering that he wasn't a big coffee drinker. "I'll make you a bet. If you drink a whole cup of coffee, black, then i'll do whatever you want...mostly because anyone who's able to take a black coffee deserves little treat." She bit down on her lip, hoping that the offer interested him and poured a cup of coffee, nothing in it, and handed it to him. In the past, Sam had been having trouble with keeping the interest of men that came across her. Like Seth. Hot written all over him, attracted to her for a while, and then, like that, gone. He was out of her life and that was that. But she couldn't help but like that a particular man was standing right in front of her at the moment, it was a good view of...everything, that she wanted to see.

sam looked down at samantha for the longest time, his face screwed up slightly. not because of what she had said about his whole doctor gettup - yeah, he was used to compliments like that, and he really wasn't going to say something stupid like 'thanks' or 'no, you look better'. they were both equally hot, more so samantha, because sam wasn't anywhere near undressing himself - not like he was with the little redhead standing before him, anyways. actually.. no. he couldn't think of a time in his life where he had ever mentally undressed himself. he may come off as a little cocky and arrogant, but he was nowhere near narcissistic.
no, sam was contorting his face into a look of bemusement because black coffee was probably the worst possible thing to have ever existed on earth. either samantha was really sick and twisted and just wanted to be a tease because she knew sam's one weakness, or she just didn't believe he would be able to do it in the first place. he took the cup from her hand and put it to his lips, but before gulping it down, he paused and crossed his arms over his chest, staring at her accusingly. "anything?" he clarified, arching a brow at her. "but coffee is just so.. especially black coffee.. you suck." he whined, pouting his lips. if she was trying to get his attention, she was definitely doing a good job at it.

[img src="http://i47.tinypic.com/np5pnp.jpg "] Sam almost couldn't hold in her laughter about to watch Sam gulp down an entire cup of black coffee. She herself had never actually attempted to drink an entire cup. She had only had a sip or two of pure black coffee and it was one of the most brittle tasting things she had ever tried. When he put the drink up to his lips she bit down on her own lip, just as anxious to see him do it as he probably was to drink it. But when he stop, she let her arms down in dissapointment. He was making sure she wasn't playing him for a fool. Smiling content with the way he was playing it safe she nodded "anything, within reason. I'm not gonna go streaking up and down the halls or anything like that..." She giggled under her breath.
Shrugged her shoulders she shook her head when he complained about the coffee "hey, do you want a free favor from me or not? Now drink up tea boy" She teased. She was still leaning there against the counter in the lounge, looking out at the door every once in a while to make sure no one was going to decide to drop in. Normally, no one would stop by at the time they were there. It was a pretty dead time and people usually just hung around in the hallways instead of the actual lounge built for a purpose. She waited for him to drink the coffee, hoping that he would drink all of it. She was curious as to what he would make her do. She had no idea what she had just gotten herself into...

"anything within reason..." sam repeated slowly, eying the girl carefully. well, that just blew everything his dirty little mind was thinking up out of the water, now didn't it? that probably sounded insanely terrible, but... it was somewhat true. like you could honestly blame him, though, with a girl as attractive as her standing in front of him and practically begging for it. maybe she wasn't really begging for it, though. maybe she was one of those types of girls that accidentally did those sorts of things - make something completely innocent seem like it was anything but. that's why he had to play his cards safely. at least right now, in his work environment. he was usually more than willing to take his chances if the time called for it, but here? even hugging a coworker of the opposite sex could get him in deep shit with his boss, which wasn't something he wanted anytime soon. any black mark on his record was likely to stick with him wherever he went, and the last thing he wanted was for people to see his records and think he was some giant perv... even if he really was one.
"well i mean i want my full pain's worth of free favors if i'm going to be drinking this" he said, motioning towards the steaming cup of joe. "i mean not only is this going to kill my stomach, taste buds, and day, but.. well, okay, that's all it's gonna mess up," he mumbled truthfully, shrugging a shoulder. "pinky promise?" he pouted, lifting up his free hand and sticking his pinky out for her. and god knows what she was pinky promising to - sam didn't know, and he wouldn't know till after the fact most likely. but that was okay. sort of. maybe. he supposed the only way this wouldn't be okay was if she turned around after him downing the whole drink and saying 'nothing you would assume to be fun'.

[img src="http://i47.tinypic.com/np5pnp.jpg "] She was a little offended knowing that Sam didn't completely trust her word. They hadn't really known each other long enough, she guessed. It was more of playful fun and flirtation between them, but she had to admit that she absolutely loved having him as close as he was standing to her right then, maybe even closer... Sam figured she better clarify what the "within reason" part meant of the agreement. She didn't want him to think this was some dumb middle school truth or dare shit, they were two grown people "Okay okay, fine. I take that back. Anything you want, no matter what it is." She bit down on her lip, a little nervous now that she had stated that. She figured it would convince him to drink the coffee even faster now. Hopefully.
Extending out her pinky she shook his, "I pinky promise. I will not even dare to go back on my word" She smirked at him, still waiting for the moment where he would injest one of the most foul things anyone ever could. whatever, he would live, and although it was bitter, it wasn't so terrible that you would throw it up or gain some sort of illness from it. It was playful fun that could turn into an even more "playful" event, but she herself didn't know that. She watched and waited, pulling her hair to one side, she leaned her head sideways, smiling.

if sam were to allow himself, at that very moment, to over analyze everything that was going on right now, he honestly would not be able to pinpoint an exact reason as to why he was doing this. this, pertaining to, of course, taking sam up on her offer. after all, he hated coffee, and he wasn't entirely sure what she meant by her terms exactly, making him a bit uneasy. then again, drinking coffee wasn't that big of a deal to begin with. it was like taking horrible tasting medicine - pinch your nose and gulp it down. get it down and over with. easy peasy lemon squeezy... right? at the end of it all, when he let his mind over think everything he was possibly contemplating since he had walked into the break room, it all seemed utterly ridiculous. and that was why he had to shut his brain off, despite the utter difficult that that faced.
"what if.. i don't drink the coffee but you do whatever i want?" he offered optimistically, arching a brow at her while grinning cheekily. he then paused a moment, set the cup of coffee down on the counter, and sidestepped away from her so that he was standing more next to her than in front of her. he leaned his side against the counter and looked her up and down slowly, making a soft humming sound as he did so. "you look like your mind could easily be swayed.." he taunted, his voice hovering slightly, becoming softer. "i may not be a lawyer, but i can make a pretty good case."

[img src="http://i47.tinypic.com/np5pnp.jpg "] It had only been about five or so minutes since Sam had first entered the lounge, it was even more amazing to know that she still had a good 25 minutes of break time. She hoped for her sake that boy Sam wouldnt be there just as long. She was worried that she would do something to embarrass herself like she always did. It was always something stupid too like, dropping liquid down the front of her, or tripping over the leg of a table. Sam was the last person on earth she wanted to humiliate herself in front of.
She raised her eyebrow at him when he said that he could not drink the coffee and she would still do whatever he wanted. "Hm..I don't know about that mister" When he and even anyone else who would have been in the room could tell that she was clearly lying to herself. This man was gorgeous and she would do a lot of things to keep his attention, she was having way too much fun being around him and she didn't want it to end. When he started to mega flirt with her, her cheeks flared. Looking away from him for a moment, she looked back, biting her lip and smirking like she always did. Sam had a crazy idea but she was going to do it anyways. Walking up closer to him she shrugged "Fine, if you won't drink the coffee..then I will. No point letting it waste.." She smiled before taking the cup of black coffee and competely chugging it. Setting it down she made a face before looking at him "There, I did it for you. Now, what is it that you want?" She crossesd her arms ready to hear any ridiculous thing that could come out of his mouth

"oh?" he looked genuinely intrigued as he watched her, nothing but amusement on his face. sam scoped the lounge room before returning his puppy eyed gaze back onto samantha. his grin grew wider as she declared that there was no point in letting the coffee go to waste, and that she'd drink it up for him. and god, there couldn't have been anything more amusing than the way she screwed up her face once it was all said and done. he watched the cup where she had set it down before gazing back up at her, chewing on his lower lip and staying silent. "well..." he paused, chuckling inwardly. he covered his mouth with his hand in an attempt to stop the laughter that was coming out, but it was all to no avail. "okay, okay. you're a brave girl. i respect that." and he could also respect the fact that every little thing he had noticed about her thus far was as endearing and adorable as it could get. the lip biting, the mumbling to herself, and especially how extremely red she could turn.
he turned his back to her for a moment and got another cup, this time filling it with hot water that was in a metal pitcher next to the coffee maker. he got a tea bag from one of the overhead cabinets and set it in his cup before getting one of those mini straws and stirring it around a bit. he finally looked back over at her, grinning slyly. "i gotta get back to one of my patients before my overseeing doctor flips out," he lied, picking up his tea. "but let's just say.. that won't be the only bitter thing you'll be tasting today." he murmured as he passed her, winking. he took a sip from his tea before continuing to walk out of the break room and down one of the many hallways of grand strand.
because that, ladies and gentlemen, was exactly how sam baker rolled.
