This couldn't be happening to her. She couldn't believe it. She was shopping with Bryce for the day. She had the day off of work and had only had one class earlier that morning. She'd gone to it and then headed home to pick up Bryce and get some shopping done. The trouble with having a four year old was the fact that they grew out of everything in a matter of no time at all. So despite the fact that Bryce was less than happy about it, they were at the store riffling through clothes for him that would hopefully last the duration of a few months.
The only trouble was, when she turned towards the cash register to pay for her purchases, Bryce must have seen something that caught his eye and, in a split second, he was gone from her side. Si was always so careful with him. He was her little boy and she loved him unconditionally, so when she turned back around to grab Bryce's hand and saw that he wasn't there, she was damned near hysterical. Her heart was in her throat as she stood there for a moment, her bags in her hands and searched around for her son. Maybe he had just wandered a few feet away. But as she looked around her, it was apparent that that wasn't the case.
Her search became more frantic as she looked through the racks of clothing near by. Nothing. He wasn't in the store. "Bryce?" She called, the hysteria rising in her voice. No mother ever wanted to experience anything like this and yet it happened all too often. All that Sienna knew was that she had to find her little boy and she had to find him fast. She couldn't let herself think about what could happen if someone had snatched him. What if his father was out of prison again? Oh god. She was only sending herself further into a panic as she started sifting through the crowds of people in the mall.
Meanwhile, a short distance away, Bryce was admiring the display case for a toy store nearby. Once he was finally done looking his fill, he turned around and that was when he realized that he had left his mother behind somewhere midst his fascination. The child's eyes immediately went wide and filled with tears. He was only four years old. An adorable, strawberry blonde haired and blue eyed little boy who was terrified that he had lost his mommy somewhere.
Bryce scanned the crowd and immediately saw a man who looked like the kinds of people that both his mother and his grandfather hung out with. He had colorful art decorating his arms just like his mommy did. He ran over to him as fast as he could, tugging on the pant leg of the man in question. He got his attention and looked up at him just in time for the crocodile tears to start up and with a hiccuping gasp, he announced to the man that he had lost his mommy somewhere. Luckily, Si was sifting through the crowd and heading their way just in time.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] As the light of day started easing Jaxon from his sleep, he shifted towards the warm body in his bed and wrapped his arm around the soft skin of a woman while he racked his brain for her name. Unable to recall a damn thing about the night before, he opened his eyes to find the slender frame in his bed was his adopted sister, Noel. Using his strong arms, her pushed her off the bed, sending her and the blanket she was tangled in to the floor. ”The fuck? Seriously?” He said. ”Get the fuck out.” Jaxon ordered, rubbing his face some and listening to the sound of her feet across the carpet and the door to his room open and shut. Sighing, he looked up and looked around. That was the third time this month they ended up in bed together. Jaxon’s only saving grace was that they weren’t of blood relation but still, it was his fucking slutty ass sister.
Getting up, Jaxon showered, scrubbing a little harder than normal to get the feel of her off his skin. When he got out, he wrapped and towel around his waist, pulled out some briefs from his ‘clean’ laundry basket and pulled them on before pulling out a crumpled up pair of jeans and the first shirt he lay his hands on. The rest of his routine was fixing his hair into a presentable manner. Grabbing his shades and car keys, he exited his room, pulling the door shut and glaring down the hall at Noel’s room briefly, he pulled his shades over his eyes and headed for the door, spinning the lock as he left and hitting the button to unlock his own vehicle.
The drive to the mall was short and Jaxon didn’t really have a purpose here but he needed to get out of the house and get some air. He’d been practically chained to the chair at home writing lyrics and working on some rifts. As usual, his feet carried him to the music store and, similar to the boy that would soon be grabbing his pants and crying about his mother, Jaxon stood outside and looked at the window display.
When his pants moved, his brow furrowed and slowly he looked down to meet the leaking face of the boy. Jaxon was not equipped for these kinds of situations. Really, he wasn’t. His eyes scanned the crowd for anyone, anything to help him but the people just continued to bustle around them. Pursing his lips a little and looking down for a moment, he troubleshot the situation. This led him to squatting down so he was eye level with the boy and setting one of his large hands on the boy’s tiny shoulders in an attempt to be comforting. ”It’ll be alright little man. Why don’t you tell me what your mama looks like and if you want, you can get on my shoulders and we can find her together?” He suggested.

She was starting to freak out. She couldn't find her son anywhere. This was the first time in four years that something like this had happened. But then again, she amounted that, in part, to the fact that he was getting to the age now where wandering off on his own was kind of par for the course. He was a little terror, getting into everything and anything, but Sienna sent a silent prayer to whatever god above might have been listening that she found her son. And then she would make damned sure never again to take her eyes off of him. Not even for a second.
Bryce blinked at Jax for a moment, trying to think of a quick description of his mother. "She's pretty! With long reddish hair!" He beamed a little bit, his tears temporarily forgotten as he tried to think of the best way to describe his mother. "And she has tattoos like you." He nodded dutifully. "She was picking out stuff for me when I saw the toys and..." He looked at his feet for a moment. He knew he'd done something wrong in wandering off on her. His Mommy had told him, time and time again, to stay by her side. "She's gonna be so mad when we find her." He pouted after a moment, but it didn't seem to deter the child. He wanted to be reunited with his mother.
Sienna whipped out her cell phone and was in the process of dialing her father's number in hopes that he would have some sort of idea when she caught sight of a man kneeling on the ground in front of a familiar head of strawberry blonde hair. She almost screamed his name as she shoved her phone back into her pocket and broke off into a run. She had to dodge several people and sprint the length of the damned mall it seemed, but once the crowd in front of her cleared, she realized that he wasn't there on the ground anymore. She almost panicked again. But then she heard it. "MOMMY!" She looked up in enough time to breathe a shaky sigh of relief when she realized that the man had hoisted Bryce up onto his shoulders to find her.
"Oh thank you, God. Gods. Godesses. What the hell ever." She breathed as she came to a stop in front of them. "Mommy, you said a bad word." She looked up at her son and shook her head. "Mommy said several bad words in the time it took her to find you, Bryce Jacob Xander." She said, planting her hands on her hips. The child winced. She'd pulled out the full name. Yep. He was in trouble. But she finally turned her attention to the man who had her son up on his shoulders. "I can't thank you enough. I swear, losing children isn't something I tend to do often. In fact... I've never done it before but... Can I buy you a coffee or lunch or something to thank you for keeping him safe?" She asked him.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] Jaxon glanced around as he described a woman who had hair probably about the same color as the boy he’d guessed and tattoos. At first glance, nothing but it was hard to see much more than the pants people were wearing around them from down here. ”I’m going to put you on my shoulders so we can find her alright?” He asked, making sure the boy understood that he wasn’t in danger before wrapping his large hands around the boy’s small torso under his arms and lifting him as if he were as light as a bag of leaves. Last thing he wanted was to scare the already scared boy and make him scream out and convince someone he was a child rapist or something of the sort. That would have been really bad.
He settled the boy on his shoulders, carefully dropping his hands and silently hoping that the little boy didn’t turn into a kamikaze and do something to make himself fall. ”You see her little man?” He asked, turning slowly, eyes scanning the crowd. Jaxon got his answer as the boy shouted in excitement and he lifted his gaze to find a woman rushing over to them looking royally panicked. If being raised by Isobel taught him one thing, it was that you don’t get between a mother and her child. Iso may not have given birth to him but she protected him as if she had spent a week in labor to bring him into the world. Once, a man had laid hands on Jaxon when he was younger. He meant no harm and didn’t hurt the boy but Isobel was ready to tear the man apart just for laying his hands on her boy.
So as soon as the mother came up, Jaxon’s hands were back on the boy and he was lifting him down while preparing a mental apology about having put his hands on her kid. The woman didn’t seem to be panicking about the fact that Jaxon had her kid. He set the boy on his feet carefully and patted his shoulder lightly. ”There you go little man. Told you we’d find her.” He said, looking up from the kid as his mother addressed him. A small, humored smile split his lips as she addressed him and swore that this was the first time she’d lost the kid. ”I figured. He was pretty distraught about losing you.” He said with a jovial shrug, his hands tucking into the pockets of his jeans.
Jaxon’s eyes couldn’t help but scan the woman, eyes the glimpses of tattoos that were on her arms, the edge of one across her collar bone. His eyes lifted to meet her face as she suggested coffee or lunch and he offered her a friendly smile. ”No need to thank me.” He assured her just as his stomach betrayed him and grumbled loudly, reminding him that he hadn’t eaten yet today. Rubbing his stomach a little sheepishly, he looked at her a bit. ”I can help you carry your bags to the car if you want.” He offered, gesturing to her bags and rubbing the back of his neck quietly.

The moment that Bryce was set down on the ground, he bolted over to his mother and wrapped his little arms around her leg. It was clear that the child didn't have any intentions of straying from his mother like that again anytime soon. While she otherwise probably would have skinned any stranger who touched her child, it had been more than apparent that this man had been helping Bryce. If he hadn't have been, she was pretty sure that she'd be tearing him apart at this point in time. But as it was, all she could feel was an overwhelming sense of appreciation and thanks in the moment. He'd obviously been willing to help the little boy in finding his mother and that was good enough for her.
She looked down at Bryce and gave his hair a ruffle when the man in front of her said that he had been pretty distraught about having lost her in the first place. "I can see that." She commented, giving her son a disapproving look in the moment. Bryce ducked his head down a little more and clung to her a little tighter. Yep. He definitely knew he was in all sorts of trouble. The child must have known that his only saving grace at the moment was the man standing in front of them. His mother certainly wouldn't yell at him with someone else there to witness what was going on, right?
She arched a brow. No need to thank him? What he had done was a pretty big deal. She wasn't sure that she could have been so lucky had someone else found her son as it was. He tried to turn lunch away, but a moment later his stomach growled. "Okay. Not thank you then." She said simply before he said that he could help her carry her bags to her car. She smiled at him a moment. "Or you could come with me and park your butt in the cafeteria and we can all sit down and have lunch." She paused a moment as Bryce brightened up at the mention of lunch. "And then you can help me carry my bags to the car." She said. "If I could hear the grumbling of your stomach from over here, then I'm pretty sure it means your darn hungry." She offered.
She hesitated a moment when she realized something. "Oh God. I'm sorry. I totally forgot. This is Bryce. And I'm Sienna. That was so rude of me." She rolled her eyes at herself. "And really. About the lunch thing? I insist. You men have a habit of getting sidetracked and forgetting to feed yourself." She commented. Lord knew her father did it more often than not. And then, when he finally did eat, he practically wolfed the whole house down right in front of her eyes. "There aren't enough decent people in the world." Bryce didn't hesitate, he just skipped over to Jaxon and wrapped his small hand around the man's arm while still holding his Mom's hand. Sienna could only give him a guilty little shrug.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] Jaxon couldn’t convince her that she didn’t need to worry about buying him lunch. It wasn’t because he minded sitting down and getting to know this girl or anything like that. It was merely because he didn’t want to be a bother to her. There was something in the way she insisted that he do what she wanted that made him want to oblige. Maybe it was because it was similar to something his mother would do if he was trying to be humble and deny thanks or maybe he just picked up on her persistence and knew she wouldn’t stop till she got her way. Besides, not that his stomach had betrayed him, he was hungry so he might as well have some company for lunch. The kid seemed pretty cool and his mother, well she was sporting some very appealing tats and wasn’t hard on the eyes by any means so he figured sitting at the other side of the table from them while they ate wouldn’t be too bad.
”Alright. Alright. I’ll let you take me to lunch.” Jax said, putting his hands up in front of him with his fingers spread wide as if she’d just threatened him. His tone was mocking exasperation as he spoke but it was clear from the gleam in his eye and the smirk on his lips that he really didn’t mind at all.
For the slightest moment, as she said ’oh god’, he wondered in maybe there was a second child that she’d misplaced but it seemed all she’d forgotten were her manners. No big deal. It wasn’t like she’d been rude to him or anything of the sort. Not in his mind anyway. Their conversation really hadn’t left room for introductions until that moment so in his mind, there was no social faux pas. ”I’m Jaxon.” He introduced with a smile and his eyes dropped back to the little boy. ”Bryce huh? Nice name little man.” He said, reaching out a large fist to the boy, waiting to see if he would mimic the action and bump his tiny knuckles against Jaxon’s own.
”Tell you what.” He began, taking his chances, ”How about I buy lunch?” He said with a grin. Really, it wouldn’t have been any trouble and he would have felt better about it because he was a single man with famous – and very rich – family members who would spend more on a guitar than he would a car and she was the mother of a growing boy. He saw no ring on her finger and since she hadn’t seemed opposed to buying him lunch, Jaxon assumed no boyfriend with which lead him to believe she was a single mother. Being a single mother was brutal. Isobel and his aunt Makenna were somewhat single mother’s half the time and he knew that raising a child alone was difficult without even considering the financial aspect of it.

Okay. Sienna had to be frank with herself here. She may have been a single mother, but that didn't make her a completely asexual entity. The man in front of her was attractive and maybe that was a part of the reason that she wanted to have lunch with him beyond the fact that she was simply thankful. He seemed a pretty decent guy, but then, that didn't mean much of anything given the fact that she didn't know the most simple thing about him as of yet. But at the moment, she felt relatively safe where he was concerned. She was doing her best not to let the past and what had happened to her with Bryce's father ruin any potential interactions for her in the future, but it was difficult when you considered what she had gone through at such a young age. There was still a bit of apprehension in the back of her mind, but at the same time, she didn't want to appear like a completely neurotic loon to the rest of the world.
She smiled when he put his hands up in mock surrender and said that she could take him to lunch. "See? Not so difficult." She commented with a slight smirk to her lips. Oh God... was she flirting with him? She was amazed that she still knew how to do that. Then again, she wasn't really sure that she could classify it as flirting with him if she had to ask herself if she was flirting with him. Add in the fact that she had a four year old attached to her hip at the moment and she knew that the chances of her actually meeting a man who would want to stick around were probably slim to none. What man wanted to help raise a child that wasn't even his? She hadn't had a whole lot of hope in that department and her father certainly didn't count in this instance.
Jaxon. She had a name to go along with the face now. And that was a start. She watched as he paid attention to her son for a moment and she couldn't help the way that it warmed her heart a little bit. Okay. So this guy wasn't bad at all. Bryce looked up at the fist that Jaxon offered and Sienna had to laugh as her son did the exact same thing with Jaxon that he did all the time with his grandfather and gave the man a fist bump. She smiled at her son and smoothed his hair with a hand. She had a feeling that he'd be talking about the cool guy they met at the mall for a long time coming now. She wasn't so sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing as it stood.
She arched a brow at him when he said that he'd buy her lunch. "That's not typically the way it works, you know... Stranger helps distressed stranger... distressed stranger is usually the one who buys the other lunch." But she'd gotten him to concede to lunch as it was and that was definitely something. "Moooooom. Just say yes! I'm hungry!" Sienna laughed. "Why thank you, Bryce. You make it sound like I never feed you." She said with a roll of her eyes before she looked back at Jaxon. "Sure. Okay. But if we cross paths again, you're not getting away with this so easily next time." She smiled. But the truth of the fact was that she did appreciate it. It was hard enough juggling school, a crappy job writing news articles that paid next to nothing and the wages of a weekend bartender, though admittedly, she made damned good money as a bartender on the weekends, it never seemed like it was enough.
Sienna turned her body in the direction of the food court and gestured ahead of her.'Shall we, then?"

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] ”See? Not so difficult.” She said. Oh how wrong those words were. For Jaxon to agree to lunch with a woman who would likely insist on paying as a thanks for being a good Samaritan, it was incredibly difficult to agree too. It wasn’t that she was an unappealing lunch date because she most certainly wasn’t, but it was that she indeed was an appealing lunch date. This was the kind of girl he normally attempted to take home so that he could see the rest of those tattoos and trace them with his hands. However there was a three foot cock block standing there and Jaxon found it difficult to keep from admiring the physique of the mother of the little boy whom he’d just “saved.
Taking money from a woman was hard enough. Taking money from a woman and not shamelessly hitting on her because her kid was right there, watching you like you were his new favorite Superhero was even harder. Thankfully, with Bryce’s help, Jaxon didn’t have to fight too hard to get her to agree to let him be the one to pay. He smiled and gave Bryce another little fist bump in gratitude before lifting his gaze to the boy’s mother and grinning a little at her threat – cause that’s what it was, a threat. He knew one when he heard it. ”I don’t expect to.” He said with a grin. She turned towards the food court and he lifted his eyes to look at it, hesitating a moment. He probably should have taken her to a real restaurant and sat down with her since she seemed interesting and he wanted to get to know her a bit but then there was the kid and he probably wanted one of the fast food restaurants. He gave a meek smile before he moved towards her, guiding his arm around her for a brief moment and resting it ever so gently on the small of her back for the briefest second to guide her with him before he extended his hand. ”Let me take some of those bags for you.” He offered.
”Ok Bryce.” Jaxon said, kneeling down to eye level again. ”You can have whatever you want to eat as long as your mama says it’s ok, alright?” He said with a smile before straightening up and looking to her. ”Beauty of the food court is everyone gets what they wants.” Yes he was perfectly aware of the possible sexual innuendo in that statement and he couldn’t help but grin a little, amused at it but it didn’t make it any less true. ”What would you like to eat?”

Sienna had to smile at the way the man reacted and responded to her son. She had to say, the guy was already getting brownie points with her, even if he didn't want them. She had to stop herself from thinking too far ahead of the game. She didn't make a habit of taking strange men home to meet her son. As far as circumstances went, this was just a chance run in and she had to prevent herself from hoping for things that she had absolutely no right to hope for or even want at this point. He was just a stranger who had been kind enough to lend her a hand and help her son out in finding her. It was simple as that. She needed to get her head out of the clouds and make it through this lunch with her dignity intact. All she had to do was remember her son and the fact that he was her life now and she had to protect him.
She smiled a bit when he said that he didn't expect to get away with it next time. "Good. Glad that's settled then." She said. Though, to be fair, at this point, what were the chances of them running into one another upon coincidence again? She had to admit that they were probably pretty slim at this point as it stood. She didn't think that it'd be a problem at this point, not that she would have minded making good on that little threat there in the least. Despite the fact that she had been training herself for over four years to remain cautious as hell with those she brought into her son's life, she had to admit that this man was generally pretty good with him.
But it didn't mean that she was completely immune to him. She couldn't help the shiver that went down her spine momentarily when he placed his hand at the small of her back, but she certainly didn't complain. But then he was offering to take some of the bags from her and she had to smile as she handed over a few of them. It was the second time he had asked and he appeared to be being a genuine gentleman at the moment. 'Thanks." She smiled as she handed over some of the bags after a moment and took her son's hand in her own again.
And then he was addressing her son again who nodded eagerly at what he said. "Mama, can I have ice cream for lunch?" Sienna laughed and shook her head. "You can't have just ice cream for lunch, Bryce. Pick something else for now and then I'll make sure you get some ice cream with dinner tonight, all right?" She compromised. He pouted for a moment but then thought better of it and nodded. "Can I have pizza then?" She smiled and nodded. "You can have pizza." She said.
Sienna let her eyes linger on Jaxon a moment when he said that the beauty of the food court was the fact that everyone got what they wanted. She found herself actually blushing a little bit at the remark, but her blush only deepend at her own thoughts when he asked what it was that she wanted to eat because she damned near blurted out the answer "YOU," immediately thereafter. That probably wouldn't gone over as well as she would have liked it to. "Uhhh..." She raked a hand through her hair but shrugged. "I might just go along with Bryce on this one and get some pizza with him." She said. She didn't want to be a huge pain in the ass where all of this was concerned, after all, he had helped them and now he was the one buying them lunch. Up until this point, Sienna had been pretty sure that there were no good guys left in the world.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] Jaxon couldn’t help but wonder if this had been what it was like for his father at first. Of course, things were a little different, no situation was ever identical. In his case, he knew the man he’d called his father longer than he’d known the woman he called his mother. But he lived with her while his father remained homeless, refusing to mooch off the woman. Jaxon had become attached to Isobel but had never been shy about Colt. He loved Colt, admired him. But when it came down to it, Iso and him were a family before Colt joined in fully. It was Iso and him that did things like shopping and what not. She loved him as he own, probably more because she didn’t have to get fat to have him and he kept Colt around even when she was irritating and rude to him. That was before they moved in together. Jaxon never truly understood why he went from sleeping in his racecar bed over at Uncle Holden’s place to sleeping in a house with no electricity in a bed with Isobel but he didn’t complain because he had everything he wanted.
Taking her bags, he offered her a smile. His was a little lost in his thoughts, being grateful to have the people he’d had in his life. It wasn’t a normal day when Jaxon got sentimental but he knew his life could have been completely different right now if he hadn’t been adopted by Isobel and just as much if Isobel hadn’t come round and become the woman that Colt wanted her to be. Jax remembered watching Isobel go from acting indifferent and entitled around Colt to being completely dedicated to him, watching his every move, snuggling up with him and just being plain nice. Even Uncle Holden had been surprised by it. That Isobel hadn’t been his little sister but at that point Holden was barley himself. Kassidy was changing him with every passing day, had made him into a softer, kinder man with loads of patience and by accepting him for who he was.
What was brining on all these thoughts of his family? It was her. It had to be her with her slender, yet curvy frame, the ink on her soft skin. If not for the kid, he might try for a kiss but Bryce was around and he didn’t want to leave a bad impression. Little boys tended to be protected of their mothers. Jaxon knew he’d been fiercely protective of his mom, punched a man in the gonads once for making suggestive moves at her. The man had raised his hand to slap him and found himself on the ground. Isobel was not a woman to mess with and her brother Holden certainly wasn’t either. But just that little touch on her back made Jaxon crave more.
Bryce’s words pulled him from his thoughts and he felt like a sheepish prat for having gotten lots in his mind again. He took a deep breath, trying to clear away his thoughts and chuckled a little at Bryce. Ice cream. He was sure he’d asked for ice cream as meal when he was younger. ”Pizza sounds good.” He nodded, placing a large hand on Bryce’s shoulder. ”Where is the pizza at little man?” He asked. He knew exactly where the counter to give him pizza was but he wanted to make Bryce feel important. Looking back at the boy’s mother, he let his eyes linger for longer than they should have before allowing the little boy to tug him off.
(Sorry for the wait and for the shit post. Jaxon just wants to talk about his family for some reason. He's being a total sap!)

Sienna was pretty blown away with just how good this man was with her son. Sienna knew that he didn't have a whole wealth of positive male influences in his life - her own father withstanding. But from the few times that Bryce had met his father, she knew well enough that the man terrified him, which was exactly why Sienna hadn't bothered to go and visit with Bryce in over a year. Bryce's dad had a tendency to raise his voice and get pretty up front and aggressive and, more times than she could count or even wanted to remember, Sienna had left visibly shaken up after having brought Bryce to see him. But it wasn't a place that her mind wanted to be at the moment. The man in front of her was nothing like Bryce's father. He wasn't selfish or full of aggression and hatred. But it didn't mean that Sienna would be any less careful. Her family came first these days.
She watched as Jaxon asked Bryce where the pizza was and he pointed to the counter where the Pizza vendor was at. Sienna had to smile. "Looks like he knows his stuff." She commented, ruffling Bryce's hair all over again. She watched him as he bounded ahead a few steps to head to the pizza counter, but then looked back over his shoulder at his mother. At least he hadn't forgotten the horrible scare the pair of them had both just had when he'd bolted off on her earlier. She gave him a quick nod, letting him know that he was okay and still very much in her line of sight. Bryce grinned at her and bolted on ahead again to get in line, leaving Jaxon and her to walk up to the counter themselves and with a few moments reprieve from prying little ears.
"Thank you, by the way." She said, glancing at Jaxon with an honesty that she knew was in her eyes. "You have no idea how much he craves decent male attention. He doesn't have many good role models in his life so... I'm sorry if he thinks of you as some kind of superhero at the moment." She shrugged. "And thank you for lunch." She added. "And the bags... And for helping him... and... Good lord... Is there anything I can't thank you for at this point?" She asked, giving a nervous little laugh and combing her fingers through her hair.
They finally arrived at the counter and Sienna placed the order for both her and Bryce's food. It wasn't too long of a wait as they heated their pizza slices up and they were handed a tray with all of their food on it. Bryce picked out a seat for the three of them that was 'conveniently' placed right in front of the play park right there in the mall. And it was no surprise when he started digging right into his food immediately. "Slow down or you'll choke!" Sienna said as she watched her son who showed no signs of slowing down. He mowed down on his piece of pizza, finishing everything but the crust and then bounced up in his seat. "Mama, you and Jaxon aren't done yet, can I go play while I'm waiting for you?" Of course her son had planned that one out totally. She sighed and then shook her head. "Yes, you can go play. Just make sure you don't wander off anywhere, Bryce. I'll be watching you." She said in a warning tone. Her son nodded and then bounded for the play place.
"And then there were two." She said, giving Jaxon a smile. She rested her elbows on the table and put her chin on her hands. "So. You rescue damsels in distress, save children in their hour of need. Buy single mothers and their sons lunch and carry their bags through a busy mall... But what is it that you do for a living? Surely being a superhero doesn't pay the rent or bills." She smiled cheekily.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] As the little blonde boy who’d tugged on his leg, scared and worried about his mother trotted a few steps forward to the pizza stand before pausing and turning back to look at his mother, Jaxon smiled. It was pretty cute to see a boy so attentive to his mother. He chuckled at his mother’s comment and nodded. ”What kid doesn’t know where the pizza is?” He asked amused. Even as he stood in line, Jaxon watched. People had a tendency to not acknowledge kids and he didn’t want some older kids cutting in front of him just because there were more of them or because they were bigger but when Sienna spoke, his eyes turned back to look over her and he smiled a bit, nodding. ”I don’t mind being a superhero.” he chuckled, remembering just how important Colt had been in his life. Even before he’d been adopted but Iso, Colt was there for him. Colt made sure no one pushed him around because of his scrawny size. He’d done his best to make sure that Jaxon never had holes in his shoes, always had at least a little bit of food in his belly, and stayed warm in the winter nights. That was back in England where Jaxon was born. Then, shortly after, Uncle Holden moved the family to Los Angeles where it was worlds warmer.
”He’s a good kid.” Jaxon added, taking advantage of the time they had away from Bryce. His pace slowed just a bit, further taking advantage of it. His eyes were still predominantly on Bryce but, in an attempt not to be rude, his eyes flicked back to Bryce’s breathtakingly beautiful mother. It was hard to say for sure since Jaxon didn’t know Bryce’s father but he’d have guessed that Bryce got a lot of features from his mom’s side of the family. Maybe not necessarily from his mom himself but perhaps her father or her brother. ”Where is his father?" Jaxon asked, this time focusing directly on her. You could tell a lot about something by the way a person responded. Her facial expressions would tell him if the man was a part of Bryce’s life, if she still had feelings for him, if he’d died and a whole plethora of other things so now, for this moment, she had his one hundred percent undivided attention.
As Bryce devoured his food, Jaxon watched amused. When he was that age, he didn’t have much of an appetite. His stomach had shrunk because he was barely getting enough food to sustain himself. He smirked, eating his food slowly, savoring it. That was how Jaxon always ate. Even if he’d never gone without a meal for the last twenty years, he still remembered what it was like to not have food. Taking another bite of pizza, his lips curled into a smile as the energetic child requested permission to play. Once again they were alone and Jaxon relished the ability to freely discuss things that he couldn’t in front of Bryce. As she praised him for being a “superhero”, he couldn’t help but give her a closed mouth smile as he finished his mouthful, taking a drink of the soda he’d ordered. It wasn’t really the praise he was smiling at so much as the fact she’d confirmed that she was indeed single. ”I’m a guitarist.” He informed her a little nonchalantly. It was the life he grew up in and there really was no surprise that he’d get into the music industry. ”What about you? What do you do for a living?”

He made a valid point. He was pretty sure that pizza was the staple food for just about any child and it didn't seem to matter how horrid the pizza was. Just as long as it was pizza to begin with. Toss in the potential for playing after lunch and you had a combination for a child that was prepared to wolf down just about anything that was stuffed in front of him. She kept an eye on Bryce as he headed off ahead of them. Maybe she was a little overly paranoid at the moment, but given the scare she had just had, she didn't think anyone would have blamed her for it in the least. She just wanted to know her son was safe and within her line of vision. She didn't like the feeling that she'd had earlier when her stomach felt as if it had fallen away when she realized Bryce wasn't right by her side. "You're good at what you do." She said in regards to the superhero thing, offering him a little smile as she peeled her eyes away from Bryce for a split second. Thankfully, when she returned her attention to the child, he was still there.
She smiled when Jaxon said he was a good kid. She knew that. She knew she was incredibly lucky for him to have the positive rolemodel that he had in her father. She knew she was lucky to have such a special little boy. She just offered him a smile in thanks. She considered it praise that he had commented on how good he was to begin with. But then he asked about Bryce's father and she shrugged a shoulder, taking a deep breath for a moment. It was clear that his father was a sore subject. "In jail." She said, looking at Jaxon. "And I hope he stays there for a good long time." She admitted. But she didn't offer anything else up on the subject. He was practically a stranger to her still and he didn't need her blathering on about her problems with Bryce's father. She'd gotten herself into that mess and yet, she couldn't bring herself to completely hate the man because he had fathered her beautiful little boy. She ran a hand through her hair a moment.
She tilted her head to the side a moment when he said that he was a guitarist. "Oh really now?" She asked, arching a brow. She smiled a little bit. "I'm in school full time... working at a bar on the weekends. I'm in for journalism, actually... And I write news articles on local musicians for an online radio station. Doesn't pay much but... every little bit helps out, you know?" She shrugged. "Once I'm done school I want to be able to write full time if I can help it. But we'll see what happens, I guess." She smiled at him as she watched Bryce as he played for a second.

it's your fucking nightmare [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 350px; background-color:#234880; padding:0px;] Jaxon certainly wouldn’t blame Sienna for not wanting to remove her eyes from her son. After he’d wandered off like he had, Jaxon barely wanted to take his eyes off the little boy in case something should happen to him. The only time he did manage to take his eyes off the boy was to look at the boy’s mother. Now that she was watching Bryce like a hawk, Jaxon was free to admire her a little more than he’d been permitted to with Bryce nearby and with her eyes constantly flicking to his during the conversation. But now, she was mostly focused on her little boy and he was free to focus a little more on her. He wasn’t going to shamelessly stare at her chest, though there was a nice curve beneath the shirt she wore. It was the curve of her jaw, the line of her neck and the shape of her eyes that Jaxon wanted to look at. Not the mention her tattoos. He vaguely wondered what ink she had hidden under her clothes but quickly dropped his gaze and took another bite of the paper thing pizza that left a lot to be desired in a meal. Some women had special powers. Like the power to know when you were thinking about what was under their clothes and Jaxon didn’t want to offend this woman by having her catch him thinking about what might be under her clothes.
He nodded some when she told him that her boy’s father was in jail and smiled internally when she hoped he stayed there for a long time. ”What did he do to land himself jail time?” He asked, prying further into the woman’s life without really meaning to. He didn’t want to make her uncomfortable or make her talk about something she didn’t want to but his curiosity got the better of him, as it did most times and he pried a bit. If Noel were there…well if Noel were there, lunch with this woman would be impossible because Noel was just an unpleasant breath of icy air. Kassidy, his cousin, might have gave him a little nudge and scolded him for prying while apologizing and explaining that Jaxon didn’t always know where to draw the line but right now, Jaxon was solo and his curiosity for this woman was running wild.
”Nice.” He nodded. Journalism. That wasn’t something he’d expected. Immediately, his first reaction was to just down, to stay on his toes around her. That’s how he was raised. Don’t trust the media. How many times had the media caused conflict for his family? Countless times. But somewhere inside of him there was a big puppy that just wanted to roll over on his back to have his belly scratched. That big puppy kept his instincts at bay. He wasn’t going to tell her that he was the son of rockstar Colton Beaumont or that his uncle was the renown, Holden Sexton but he wasn’t going to just shut down because of her desired profession. ”You like your job?” He asked, tilting his head a bit. He really hadn’t expected a single mother to be going to school, especially not one as inked as she was. Bartender, sure, he could see that but her going to school really caught him off guard and he conversational skills were paying the price.

Sienna had to admit that she was probably way more curious about Jaxon than she had any right to be. But she was a woman. A single mother on top of that. She couldn't remember the last time she'd even had a freaking date but she knew damned well that it had been before she'd met Bryce's father. There just hadn't been the time or the desire after everything she had been through. Not to mention, she hadn't wanted to put her son through the idea of her meeting someone, him getting attached too quickly and then just losing them as quickly. It was tough at the heart of it but, really... There was only so much she could do to stop herself from thinking along those lines. She was a woman and she damned well felt like one in front of Jaxon. Despite the fact that she had her eyes on her son, she could feel Jaxon's eyes as they made their way to her each and every time and... admittedly... it felt kind of nice.
She shrugged a shoulder when he asked what Bryce's father had done to land him in jail. Her eyes slid to the table top for a moment before she sighed and looked back up again, but her eyes weren't on Jaxon at the moment. They were searching some point behind him, as if she couldn't quite meet his eyes while she answered the question. "He wound up in jail after assaulting me when I told him that I wouldn't go through with an abortion." She paused a moment and poked at her food before shrugging. "He got angry. Really angry." She admitted. She hated thinking about the man who had fathered her son, but she knew that he had been an important part of her life. Finally, she looked back up at Jaxon and offered him a small smile. "But like I said... he's in jail now." She shrugged, trying to convince even herself in the moment that it didn't matter... That he didn't matter.
She gave a nod when he asked if she liked her job. "I like writing... I like getting the chance to hang out in the music scene... I was a lot more into it while I was growing up and in high school, but I'm still interested. I usually find musicians, whether they're big time or small - at least in the rock and metal community - are pretty laid back and genuinely nice people." She admitted to him. "I'm more focused on the idea of getting smaller bands out and into open air. There's a lot of good music out there that people don't get the chance to hear nearly often enough." She shrugged. "And then the bartending part... Yeah... I like it, actually. I like it a lot. Gives me decent hours so that my father can look after Bryce while I put some time in and the tips on the weekends are great." She admitted to him. "It's also the way I get my social interaction in because lord knows I don't really ever get the chance to get out." She commented. She remembered herself a moment later, however and held up her hands and laughed. "Sorry... Sorry... I know I'm going off on a tangent here." She blushed a little.
