Early morning on the land of Texas shown through the bedroom window. It had been about three weeks since Ganette herself and Dallas decided to go down to Texas. She was getting very close to the delivery time and the once made agreement to have the children in Texas still remained. Ganette's eyes fluttered open, looking over at the beautiful man she had been calling her husband for a few months now, a bright smile come upon her face. A quick stretch and she was attempting to sit up in bed. It took more effort than usual now that she was housing two almost fully grown newborn children inside of her. She smiled down at them, feeling the slight little kicks each in a different spot every time "you two hungry?...yeah me too" She giggled to herself knowing that she was crazy but could just blame it on the pregnancy.
Finally getting the energy to stand up, she stood in front of the bathroom mirror, throwing her hair up in a ponytail, and walking out into the kitchen. She made a face, noticing that nothing that had been placed in the cabinets sounded good. "Hm...omlets anyone?" She looked down to her stomach and felt a slight little kick. "I'll take that as a yes." Ganette smiled to herself, pulling out eggs, bacon, peppers, and all the other wonderful things that went into her morning treats. Ganette stood there against the counter of the kitchen, holding the plate, but her bump holding it more than her. An extra omlet still on the stove staying warm for the time Dallas would wake up.
Ganette had learned that it was just easier to get up and get everything organized before Dallas, and although it sounded selfish, she honestly liked having the time to talk to herself and the kids. She stood there, eating the omlet bit by bit, a glass of milk she had poured was virtually gone now. But then she felt weird. It wasn't like a sickness of throwing up, it wasn't like a pain of an ulcer or someting wrong with the kids. Her chewing slowed down as she knew what was happening...
"Shit..." she muttered to herself. Turning off the stove and placing the plate down on the table, she hurridly waddled over to the bedroom to find Dallas. She shook him away "Dallas...Dallas honey, wake up you're about to be a father." She knew that was the only way to get him up as fast as he needed to. The kids were ready to get out and she could tell. Only a few days before the predicted date of delivery, Ganette smiled with excitement but also shook with anxiety, with the hope that the birth would go as planned and nothing emergency would happen.

Dallas couldn't deny that the last few weeks of his life had been the most stress-free ones he had ever really had... or that he could remember having anyhow. He was back home with his wife and they were expecting their first two children any damned day now. He was getting excited and though there was a bit of anxiety in there as he worried about whether or not he'd be a good father and a million other things, at the same time, he was just excited as hell to be a father for the first time. Sure, he had a number of reservations about it all, but he was pretty sure that the same thing went for virtually all first time parents.
He still woke up sometimes in the middle of the night after a particularly bad dream and had to fight to calm himself down a little bit, but it all came with the territory of everything that he had already been through. Tonight had been one of his good nights though. He'd actually slept quite soundly with one arm wrapped around Genny in bed. He felt her get up that morning, but had decided to remain in bed for as long as he possibly could. It was nice to be back home. It was nice to be able to relax. It was nice to feel this relaxed and comfortable. When she got out of the bed, he rolled over onto his back and threw an arm over his face, blocking out the sunshine that was already filtering through the window.
He dozed a bit more, even though he could hear Genny moving around in the kitchen. It was a comforting sound. It reminded him that he wasn't alone in the house. It reminded him that she was still there with him and that she wasn't going anywhere. He still couldn't believe that he was married to such an incredible woman. But a few moments later, he heard her pad back into the bedroom once more and she shook him 'awake' even though he was already mostly awake. His eyes popped open instantly at what she said. "Seriously?" He asked her, his mouth falling open. Normally he was incredibly good at going from asleep to awake in seconds, but nothing woke him up more than that slap to the face. "Shit..." He said as he hopped up out of bed.
Being the neurotic, prepared ex-SEAL that he was, he already had a bag packed for her in the closet of the guest house they were staying in at the moment on his mother's ranch. He couldn't believe this was finally happening. Even as he buzzed around the room, throwing clothes on for himself and getting everything ready for Genny, he was dialing the number up to the main house on his cell phone. "Mama? It's happenin'." He said. There was an ear piercing screech on the other line that made Dallas drop the cell phone. "Jesus, Mama! Did you eat an air horn last night?" He said, laughing as he picked up the phone. "We're headed to the hospital now. Meet us there?" He asked. And with a few more words, he was hanging up the phone.
He paused from his near neurotic flailing long enough to kiss Genny on the lips and splay his fingers across her stomach. "Just hold on you two... Daddy's gonna get you both and your Mama to the hospital... Then you two can come on out and see the world." He said gently before he scooped everything up in his arms and headed for the truck parked out front. He tossed everything into the back of the truck and then went back inside, helping Genny outside. When he got to the passenger side door with her, he scooped her up in his arms and lifted her inside the truck, knowing it'd probably be a pain in the ass for her to get into at the moment.
He couldn't believe this was really happening.

Suddenly, everything else in the world disappeared and there was nothing left but the family to be. By the next 24 hours they would be a complete family of four. Two little girls, their daddy, and mama, all together finally. It had seemed like the longest nine months of Genny's life. The one thing that worried her were the same things that made her want to become a mother in the first place. She had wanted to become a mother to be able to give her children what her mother hadn't given her. To have a wonderful life full of love and care, and to not be under the impression that their mother hated them and would send them off to any stupid academy at the drop of a hat. But that's what scared her, if her own mother had the gull to do that, who was to say Genny didn't. She didn't want to think about maybe someday they would get so desperate they would end up sending the girls away. No. That couldn't happen. For the most part it was because of Dallas's past job experience.
His reaction to her news was more than satisfying, and as she was helped out into the car, a bright smile stayed on her face, she was ready. She was ready to become a mother, and she could tell Dallas was more than ready to become a father. She sat there in the passenger seat of the car, breathing heavily, the pain swiftly making it's rounds in and out of her system "is...mama...comin' or what?" Her quick pauses were to let the sharp pains pass from her. At first Genny had the idea to let the birth happen naturally, but now that this was actually happening, there was no way in hell was going to survive that sort of pain, she didn't want to even attempt. The epidural would be more than enough to help her through the delivery.
Her hand rested gently on her stomach as she looked over at Dallas and smiled "Are you ready?" She was almost more worried about Dallas than she had been herself. Ever since they had been married, children had been a good idea, even though they werent some mormon people who were expected to pop out little ones as soon as the ring touched her finger, they had wanted the children, it was a joint decision that they would begin to try, and after her accident that had nearly forced her into a permanent coma, they both realized that they didn't want to risk anything else without truely starting their life together as a family.
The traffic couldn't have moved any slower on the way. Small winces and heavy breathing told Dallas that she was going through a hell of a pain, and Genny was proud at even herself for being able to withstand what she had been feeling right then. No pain the world like it and she was honestly taking it like a champ. She bit down on her lip to hide a shriek of pain from coming out, it would only get Dallas more anxious and more fidgity to get to the hospital faster. there was nothing they could do about the idiots that had decided to be on the road.

Dallas' mind was racing a hundred miles an hour. He couldn't prevent that from happening anymore than he could grow fins and breathe under water. He was running over a million things from what he'd have to do once he got the hospital to the best route to take, but he knew, any route he wound up taking, he'd wind up running through the main strip in town. He knew traffic was going to be hell and he wasn't going to like it in the least. His hands were tight on the steering wheel and his eyes were darting back and forth as he drove the truck. He had his mind centered in on what it was that he was doing. Anyone who knew him probably would have been laughing their ass off at him because he looked exactly like he did when he had his mind in on a mission... Only more paranoid this time around.
"Mama's on her way." He promised Genny. 'She's just gonna put a quick call in to Nate to let him know that you went into labour and she'll be right behind us." He told her with a small smile in her direction. He was trying to remain as calm as possible, but he was on an adrenaline high. Shit. He didn't have many of those these days without him being on the teams. "Christ... maybe I can get my adrenaline fix through our having kids. I don't remember ever being this ranged up while I was on the damned Teams." He muttered as he made a lane change.
He knew she was in a hell of a lot of pain, but she was holding it together at the moment and he was so damned proud of her. She was so strong. So beautiful. She gave him everything that he wanted in life and then some. "Absolutely ready." He told her, looking over at her. He reached over and gave her hand a gentle, reassuring squeeze. He'd get her to the damned hospital if it was the last thing he did.
And then, of course, they ran right into traffic. "Shit..." He cursed. He sighed and shook his head. Just when he was most in a hurry, there was one asshole up ahead of the rest of them who was doing fifteen under the speed limit and making him want to scream in frustration. With a growl, he punched the throttle down on the damned truck and bolted past three cars in front of him before pulling back into his lane again. Once he slowed down to a more sane speed, he looked back over at Genny. "You do remember that I was a professional for all of this shit, right?" He grinned at her as he kept on driving. He was trying to ease up the situation a little bit without killing her with pain in the process, but it was difficult when he was so on edge.
"Please tell me this is some kind of fucked up joke..." He muttered when they next came across construction. "Ooookay. Time for you to hate my guts for the next... Oh... twenty years of our marriage." He muttered before he dropped the truck down in speed behind a bunch of stopped cars. One lane of traffic was completely closed off. There was no curb at the side of the road, thankfully, and there wasn't a drop down into a huge ditch. He glanced in both of his side mirrors and then looked over at his wife, just giving her a huge grin before he kicked the truck into 4 wheel drive, cranked the wheel around and headed for the field. Thankfully, the field wasn't too rough, and by the time he was back onto the road again, he'd already screamed, "SORRY HAVING A BABY HERE!" out the damned window before he was back on his way again.
He was pretty sure the world thought he was fucking nuts by this time, but he didn't care.

The optimism of the whole labor thing was beginning to go down the tubes. With every second that passed by and every shocking pain that went up and down her body, Ganette was beginning to lose to the sense of "oh I'm having a baby" to "good god get this thing out of me!" She nodded towards Dallas as he said that mama was gonna give a phone call to Nate "You think...he'll have the same reaction...as you?" She tried to laugh but it came out more silent than anything. Clearing her throat she bit down on her lip, realizing that they had been on their way to the hospital longer than she had first thought.
Ganette didn't know the layout of Texas yet, or the towns around mama's ranch. She didn't know the street names or the turn offs or bypasses. all she knew was when she would see that blue sign with a giant H on it, she would be relieved. Unfortunately there was no such thing as a blue hospital sign in Texas, as far as she knew because they were way off from seeing one any time soon. Shaking her head she smiled "If that's...how you get adrenaline...you're screwed." She bit down on her lip instead of laughing for the sake of keeping in a scream that she desperately wanted to get out. But a few painful moans told Dallas enough. She nodded towards him with a little laugh thrown in their from all her will power when he reminded her that he was a professional at this kind of stuff. "Well...at least...we're well prepared.."
her knuckles went white from squeezing the handle on the door, her eyes squeezed shut so tight she thought they wouldn't be able to open back up again. A somehow quiet scream came out from her lips before she closed her mouth and forced it back down into her system. she knew it probably wasn't good for her to do something like that, but it was for the sake of saving Dallas's eardrums and the sanity that he may or may not have had left in him. When they finally seemed like they would make it to the hospital faster with a larger stretch of actually going the speed limit, it stopped. She let out a sigh. "Oh come on..." She said to herself. When Dallas said what he was about to do was going to make her hate him, well she wouldn't know it until it happened.
Dallas drove off onto the side of the rode, yelling about the baby, which not only made her laugh, but scream in pain as the 4 wheel drive drove them across what felt like the rockiest surface on the face of the planet. Driving on a pile of stones wouldn't have been as rough as it was for her at that moment. She couldn't hold much in anymore and let most of it out through her sweat and tears. "Oh god Dallas...I fucking...hate...you..." She said trying to muster up breath to force out words. No she didn't hate him, of course not. But the pain of labor on top of a rocky surface wasn't the best combination. "You were wrong..Im...going to hate you...for...thirty years!" She said, luckily at the same time as the pain started to go down for a mere second before coming back in out of no where. "Oh god..." She muttered to herself, a few tears falling from her face. The screaming would come later when they weren't in the middle of trying to reach their destination. They couldn't have gotten there fast enough.

Dallas shrugged when she asked if he thought his brother would have the same reaction to the fact that she had gone into labor as he had. "I have no idea but... knowing him... Probably." He admitted with a bit of a grin. He knew his brother all too damned well and he'd probably wind up being ridiculously excited about the prospect of the girls being born. As much as his brother hadn't wanted to admit it when he found out about his own daughter, Nate loved children. He loved his own daughter and was fantastic with her. Dallas only hoped that he'd prove to be just as good of a father.
Dallas had to admit that he was worried about her. There were a million questions going through his mind at the moment that he desperately wanted answers to, but he couldn't let her see how unsure he was at the moment. He had never exactly been with a woman who was giving birth before. She was in a hell of a lot of pain and she was trying to cover it up at the moment, but christ, he wished she wouldn't. He wished she'd scream, rant, rail at him, call him an asshole or do whatever the hell she had to do until they managed to get to the hospital.
But there were a few maneuvers that he had to pull himself in order to ensure that they got to the damned hospital today at the very least. Jesus christ, had traffic ever been so damned slow? "You can hate me for the next thirty years if it means that I'm gonna get you to the hospital so that our girls don't have to be born in the bed of my pick up." He commented. "I can do a hell of a lot, Genny, but I'm not sure how fantastic I'd be at deliverin' a baby." He admitted to her. But it was one of those things... if he had to... he damned well would.
"Hey..." He said, glancing over at her and offering her his hand. "Genny, listen to me. I know you're in pain so cut the tough girl crap right now." He said to her. "You need to scream? You damned well scream. Don't bottle it up, Baby because you're only going to wind up hyperventilatin' if you keep this up." He said to her. "Remember what they said... Breathe, Baby. Breathe..." He tried to coax her. He didn't care if she reached over and locked onto his hand in one hell of a deathly vice at the moment. So long as it helped her through, he'd deal with it.

Were they still not to the hospital yet? To Genny, it felt like they had been driving from Texas all the way back to Myrtle to have the kids. With every bump a new pain in a new spot began, she could feel the sweat dripping down her forehead, if anyone said motherhood was a beautiful thing, they sure had overlooked the process of becoming one. It was still hard for her to imagine that not too long ago, a beautiful diamond ring had been placed on her finger. She remembered it distinctly. Sitting on the front porch of Dallas's home, and then the question arose, she hadn't saw it coming, but she had to admit she loved the way he did it. No fancy dinners, or seaside visit, she loved the spontaneous gesture. She loved everything about Dallas, and she loved him so much that it was almost enough for her to bypass the pain for him to keep his sanity while she was losing hers.
It had only been a minute or two since Dallas had decided to take an alternate route, but by the rate they were going, there was no way Genny would be able to hold in the pain anymore. Her feelings were assured when Dallas told her to cut out the tough girl act. And it truely was an act. If she had actually been voicing the actual pain she had been in, there would be a deaf husband, and a mute wife. She held onto his hand and smiled at him "I...I can take it..i'm a big girl..." She tried to pass it off as everything was going to be okay. As the seconds passed, it was no use even trying to hide it anymore. She had done all the breathing the doctor had instructed her to do and everything else that came along with it but it was still no use. Finally she let out the scream that had been building up in there since the labor first began. It felt good to get it out, and after she was done she shook her head "I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." She had this terrible habit of blaming herself for her own pain.
And then, the destination, they had finally reached it. After being helped out of the passenger seat and into a wheelchair, she was rushed in right away. Putting on the hospital robe, she smiled over at Dallas as they awaited the doctor to come in to see if she was ready or not. It had been about an hour and a half since she had first gone into labor when Mama walked into the room. Genny smiled brightly "Mama!" She exclaimed as she was relieved that she would be able to be there for the delivery of her grand children. The doctor came in and gave Genny a big smile. He was tall and built, not the normal man you would expect to help deliver a baby. "Hello, Mrs. Xavier, my name is Dr. Martin and I'll be helpin you out here today." His twang was almost as thick as Dallas's was, she didn't mind.
nodding in his direction she heard him ask "So how long has it been, Darlin'"? Genny forced out the words "About an hour...and a half..." She winced from the pain again, trying to hold in the screams just to make the conversation easier. "Alright well let's see here now..." He said before continuing "Well, you're at about five centimeters." Putting on gloves he stood up and walked over to her side "Now then, did you want the epidural?" Without any thought Genny nodded her head frantically "oh yes, yes please." Nodding the doctor smiled "Well, we'll keep you set here for now, and i'll send in a nurse to get you set up. We'll be checkin every ten minutes or so to see if you've gone up at all alright? Alright." Another flash of his perfect doctor smile as he extended his hand towards Dallas's to shake it, he left the room silently.
Looking up at Dallas she smiled, already too darn ready to deliver the twins "Here we go.." She smiled at him as the nurse walked in the room with the needle. Sitting forward she heard the nurse say "Alright, now you'll feel a little pinch.." Little was an understatement, from all the other pain she was going through she couldn't even feel it. Leaning back, the pain began to subside "There's magic in that stuff I swear.." She said, trying to situate herself into a somewhat comfortable position.

Dallas wanted to sigh at his wife. She was even more difficult than he was sometimes, damnit. He didn't understand how or why she was even holding it all together at the moment. She had to be in a hell of a lot of pain at the moment. And while he hated the fact that she was in pain to begin with, he knew that there wasn't a whole hell of a lot that he could do about it in the moment. While he was a field medic on his team and had had a good amount of training in field medicine, this wasn't anything like that. She was having a baby. This wasn't something he could just slap a trauma kit on and tell her she'd be okay until they wound up getting her more extensive care. This was their children coming into the world. The concept was almost enough to leave him a little light headed, but he needed to hold it all together in the moment,
"What the hell are you sorry for? Being the toughest damned woman in the world? Baby, you're doin' fine." He told her, trying to reassure her in the moment. He knew about her horrible habit of blaming herself for things that were completely out of her control. He didn't understand why she did it or how she could possibly think any of this was her fault, but he wasn't about to sit there and argue with her when there were very definitely more pressing issues at the moment. And the arrival of their twin girls was definitely one of those more pressing issues at the moment.
But they finally managed to reach the hospital. Dallas left the damned truck where it was for a moment while he made sure that Genny was taken care of. He was able to breathe a sigh of relief once she was in the doctor's hands, but it didn't save him from looking for a damned spot in the parking lot as fast as possible. "Oh come on..." He cursed when he realized he had to go to the overflow parking lot. Was anything going to fucking go right for him today? Cursing as he parked the truck and, literally, broke off into a run that probably made it more than apparent to everyone within a block that he was in a bit of a hurry, he all but burst back through the front doors to the hospital and headed for the maternity ward.
He was relieved when he saw his mother walk in. He knew Genny would be a lot more at ease with his mother there. His Mom stopped to give him a giant hug. "My baby is going to be a Daddy!" She said excitedly. Dallas couldn't help but laugh at that. "I'm thirty, Mama. I don't think I can really be classified as a baby anymore." She swatted his shoulder. "You'll always be my baby." She informed him with a serious nod. His mother took up a spot beside Genny's bed and Dallas shuffled a few feet away to give the women some room. "Nate, Cassie and Sarah are gonna be flyin' out tomorrow too, by the way." Dallas was a little surprised by that. "Yeah?" Her mother smiled. "Your brother's pretty excited about bein' an uncle for the first time, you know?" He had to laugh at that.
Dallas was with her every step of the way from that point on. Dallas watched as the doctor came in and attended to Genny. He was damned lucky that he was a doctor and that Dallas knew he was being friendly but professional. He would have clocked any other man who was poking around that particular area of his woman's anatomy and then probably found a shovel to bury the son of a bitch. But the doctor turned to him a moment later and offered him a hand to shake. "Thank you, Doctor Martin." He said in that thick Texan drawl... And it always seemed to come out so much thicker when he was talking to another damned Texan. He didn't blame Genny for wanting the epidural either. She was in a hell of a lot of pain...
Dallas was able to relax a little when the nurse came in with the epidural. When he saw Genny relax a little bit, it felt like a weight had been taken off of his shoulders. He hated seeing his wife in pain so damned much. He looked at the nurse for a moment. "Ya'll have somethin' you can give neurotic first time fathers?" He asked her with a small smirk. The nurse just laughed and shook her head. "Yesterday morning we had one guy pass out. Judging by that tattoo on your arm, you're made of tougher stuff than that. I think you'll do just fine, Daddy." Dallas glanced down and realized she had been referring to the SEAL tattoo on his arm. He smirked a little bit and nodded his thanks to the nurse.
Dallas pressed a hand to Genny's stomach. "All right girls. It's safe to come out now. I know you're nice and safe in there, but Daddy promises that as soon as you're out and in this world, he'll keep you both nice and safe from anythin' that comes your way." He vowed before he pressed a kiss to Genny's stomach.

The epidural was working swimmingly. She was relieved with the lack of pain in her lower body now. Now she had time to think over all her non-motherly thoughts. All of those thoughts would be washed away by the coming of their two beautiful children into the world. Genny hadn't given birth yet, but she was positive they would be beautiful. If anything, they would have Genny's looks and Dallas's personality. Although it did scare her a little to know that they would be just as downright stubborn as Dallas and herself were. Very stubborn indeed, yet somehow her and Dallas had only managed a few large arguments will little irritation here and there. They were still newlyweds and had a lot of kinks to work out, although children didn't usually help the situation.
Genny was also relieved to know that Nate and Cassie were on their way down. Over the past few months, she had developed one of a kind relationships with all three of the family. Nate, was her good brother-in-law, the one who helped her do everything while Dallas was away over seas. And Cassie, Cassie was her best friend, the most amazing sister-in-law a girl could ever ask for. They baked together, talked together, laughed, cheered, shared stories, Genny couldn't think about a life without her in it. And Sarah, Sarah was the most adorable little girl. And it warmed her heart to know that Nate and Cassie loved her just as much as Dallas and herself would love the two little ones coming into the world. Unfortunately she probably would get a little irritated with trying to figure out which one was which. They had determined months ago that they were identical and so this was a teaching job that would have to be done by Dallas's mama. A woman who had already gone through the confusion once herself.
Genny was a little worried though. Being there in Texas, surrounded by great people, great tradition, she hated knowing that in the end they would end up going back to Myrtle, she loved being around these people so much, she was worried that she wouldn't want to leave. Her thought was thrown off by Dallas asking the nurse whether they had anything for neurotic fathers "I don't think anything they have can help you, honey." She laughed lightly, trying her best not to stress out her body anymore than it already was. When the nurse commented about a man passing out, she rolled her eyes, knowing that that was a sure possibility for dallas since he had already fainted once just by the news of upcoming children.
Looking up at him she smiled "I love you" She took his hand and kissed the top of it, almost in tears. She was going to become a mother and her hormones were going crazy. As he pressed a kiss to her stomach, a happy tear fell from her eye. "You're going to be the greatest father, Dallas, I know it. Our girls are going to grow up in the best way. They'll do great things..mother's intuition." She chuckled laying her head back down on the pillow. The doctor came back in ten minutes later, "Alright, Mrs. Xavier, let's take a look"
[/b] He paused for a moment then nodded. Calling in a nurse she heard him say "Go ahead and get her prepped, they're coming soon." Genny smiled as wide as she could, still holding onto Dallas's hand. "They're coming" she just couldn't wipe the smile off of her face as they wheeled her into place. Everything was set, and so far, nothing was going wrong, yet. As Genny lay there and Dallas in there as well, all dressed up in scrubs and a face mask, she could have only wished she would have been able to take a picture of how ridiculous and adorable he looked all at the same time. The doctor sat down in front of her, and nodded towards her "Okay go ahead and give me a push now" Genny began to push, hard, she screamed and then the doctors faced changed immediately. "WOAH WOAH STOP STOP." He instructed her like the world was ending. His voice of urgent, the type of urgent voice used before going into surgery after a stroke "Nurse, I need you to get him out of here" he pointed over to Dallas. Genny's face changed "What, no he can't leave!" She said, still unsure of why at all. The nurse came to her side "Ma'am we're going to have to put you through emergency c-section. One of the babies is turned.." She said as she walked over to dallas "I'm sorry sir but you're going to have to wait outside" Genny had to let go of his hand. She nodded towards him "I'll be alright, I love you..." And then Dallas was gone, they were injecting more medication into her spine, and then, all went numb... Genny's vision came back into focus by the sound of constant crying. She breathed heavily, noticing the blue curtain covering the lower half of her body. "Mrs. Xavier...would you like to see them?" The nurse was as smiley as ever, like Genny hadn't just gone through an emergency c-section. All she could do was nod. When the babies were brought around, they lifted her up somewhat so she could hold them. She smiled as they were placed into her arms. Tears falling down her face she smiled talking quietly "Oh my god...hello...hello there..." Her smile never fading the nurse stood there and smiled and after a minute took them back to get them cleaned off. "My huband...Dallas, where's Dallas?" She asked and could hear the nurse answer "He's out in the waiting room, would you like me to get him?" nodding she said "yes, please, tell him i'm okay, and...take the girls out with you. I want him to see them." The nurse left, leaving Genny there, while the doctors finished stitching her up, they would wait there until Dallas would come in and see her for the first time in what had been probably the longest half an hour of his life. Dallas was excited as hell. He had been looking forward to this since the moment that she had told him that she was pregnant, in spite of his having passed out at the news. He was excited to be a father. He wasn't sure he'd call himself ready... He was pretty sure that nothing could really prepare you for being a father for the first time. But that didn't mean that he wasn't excited as hell to venture down that road with his wife. She was incredible and she was the most incredible woman in his life. But soon enough... soon he knew he'd have three incredible ladies that meant the world to him in his life. He almost couldn't believe it.
But it wasn't long before the doctor came back in and informed them that they needed to get her prepped because those little girls were ready to come. Dallas was grinning from ear to ear. He couldn't help himself. He was so damned excited at the moment. They got him all suited up and ready for the delivery before bringing him back into the room. He probably looked ridiculous at the moment, but he didn't give a damn. He was just excited and ready for the wait to be over. Dallas was anxiously waiting by as Genny started pushing, but his heart damned near stopped at the doctor's panicked tone in telling her to stop pushing. "Wha-" But then the doctor was telling the nurse to get him the hell out of there. Now if that wasn't cause for concern, he didn't know what the hell was.
The nurse tried to usher him from the room, but he was as solid as a fucking rock. No one was moving him. Not just yet. And the way that Genny said he couldn't leave... it had him torn with indecision. He didn't want to leave her side. His eyes were wide with panic. The nurse tugged at his arm. "God damnit woman, let go of me." He all but growled at her. She took a step back from him, almost afraid in the moment that he'd lash out at her. He never would have, but he was pissed off. He wanted to know what the hell was going on at the very least. He got his answer a moment later, however, as the nurse explained what was going on a fuckload better than that panicked tone the doctor had used.
Dallas looked at Genny as she told him that she'd be all right and that she loved him. "I love you too, Baby. I'll be right out side. I promise." He told her. But god, he hated the feeling of helplessness that had formed in the pit of his stomach. He hated it so damned much. He didn't like not being able to do a damned thing for the woman he loved and those little girls inside of her. As he brushed past the doctor, he pinned him with a glare. "Bedside manner, Asshole. Learn it. Never freak out like that in an emergency situation." He said to the doctor on his way out the door. Christ... if he would have freaked out on the battlefield at every emergency situation he came into contact with, he probably would have been dead long ago.
Dallas paced with his mother watching him warily in the waiting room the whole while that Genny was in the room. "Things like this happen all the time, Dallas. Everything'll be okay." His mother tried to reassure himi. He just nodded and kept on pacing. "I know Mama... I just... you imagine all of this finally happening and you want everything to be perfect.. and then there's a lil' hiccup and..." He stopped and raked a hand through his hair. "I hate the hell outta not bein' able to do anythin' for them. I hate the hell outta not bein' able to be there." He admitted to his mother. She smiled a little and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Baby, you're gonna have a lifetime of bein' there for all those girls in that room." He smiled at his Mama, unable to help himself.
A few moments later, however, the nurse came back out into the waiting room and Dallas almost rushed the poor woman. "She's ready to see you. The girls are just fine and so is she." Dallas released a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. "Thank you God. And thank you. I'm sorry about the way I responded just..." She offered him a small smile. "It's okay. Now go see your girls." She offered with another small smile. She didn't have to tell Dallas twice. He headed for the room immediately and almost skidded and stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of Genny and his little girls. "Oh my God..." There were definitely tears in his eyes at the moment as he looked them over. "They're beautiful Genny... they're perfect..." He gave a little bit of a laugh and held a finger out. One of the girls latched on to it and it damned near brought him to his knees. "Daddy's gonna be wrapped around those lil' fingers..." He breathed.
