high schooler
ages 14-18, these are the students that are the bottom of the food chain when it comes to the hierarchy of the town. these are the teenagers that have to crack open books and do hours of homework every single night and repeat the process week after week until they realize that a break is near. they listen to teachers, in a classroom of about 30, ramble on about something that they may or may not use in their daily adult lives and so, they dream about those lives. these students want to be adults, they want to show their independence and while some do, some don't. there is a large mix of personalities, ethnicity, talents, and skills that surround myrtle beach high and it's all due to these students. they are brave, they get bullied or they are the bully, they get pressured, they are learning about their identities and sexuality and it's the best and worst four years of your life.
university student
ages 18/19-21 and older, these are the more mature, the more experienced and the survivors of those high school haunting days. knowing a little more about the world, there is a wisdom that gleams in the eyes of these young men and women and though they are young, they are knowledge. they are becoming and learning, absorbing everything that they can because they know that studying is the only way to succeed at this establishment. it's not all work though as surrounding the campus are students old enough to drink and naturally, partaking in one of the frat/soro parties is not a crime. mistakes are made by this group, they get lost and found, they discover, they learn and progress on their way to becoming full fledged adults who have no one and nothing to depend on except for themselves.
local
ages of any, these are the people that know the ins and outs of myrtle beach because they have lived here for a portion of their lives (a year or more). they are the people that have all the information about the best places to score a date, or to get a cheap drink. they hold the power and use it against anyone that is not deemed a citizen of the myrtle beach as many tourists play trick to their games. they are the everyday people that pass by on the street while you idly stare off because you have no real indication of who they are. they are the police force, the fire department, the local government, bakers, cashiers, baristas and anyone else that is helping to keep the business of myrtle beach alive and safe.
tourist
any age as well, these people have been here for a year or less or do not actually plan on staying but that usually changes quickly when they get pulled into the fast paced world of this tourist town. these people are who myrtle beach thrive on and the town would be nothing without them. some people find them to be a nuisance, and others see dollar signs when the car pulls up infront of the gift shop; it's all about perspective. the citizens are dependent on them but that does not mean that they are always welcome as being a tourist is a hard job but worth it when you get to catch a tan and a good wave on the sunny, packed beach.
