She is the lead actress of a German show called ihre königliche geheimnis which means ‘her royal secret’. Gwendolyn starred as a young woman who’s attending school with some friends and living with the secret that she’s actually a princess. The show had become quite a hit during its run and while the lead actress isn’t actually a princess her fans seem to feel she should be one. It was announced last year after the show’s final episode that Gwendolyn would be taking off for the states to work on her real education away from the fame that surrounds her back home so let’s give her a big welcome and find out all we can about the woman many girls in Germany wish they could be. [/style]Gwendolyn welcome to the states, quite a large move from your home how are you liking it here so far? Hello and thank you for the welcome! It’s really nice to be here and yeah it’s a big move but I felt it was necessary for me so I could get away and really focus on my studies. So far I like it here and I’m enjoying being somewhat normal. Somewhat normal? That sounds like a story all in its own. We won’t ask you to explain if you’ll tell us about yourself? There are a few people even here in the states who’ve seen “her royal secret” and would like to know more about the show’s star. haha. Yeah somewhat, I’ve never actually been normal and I don’t think that will change. I don’t mind explaining but sure I’ll tell you about me. I’m Gwendolyn Olivia Veidt but my friends just call me Gwen or Lyn normally since Gwendolyn’s a bit of a mouth full. The only thing I really don’t like being called is Doll, I just don’t feel like suits me very well so I prefer if people don’t use it. I just turned twenty one this year on the sixth of may. I’m currently in my first year at University though my manager said I’m not allowed to tell where. haha. My major for University is Computer Science because I think computers are just so fascinating and all of the things you can with them are amazing. The future’s in computers and I plan to be part of it. I don’t currently have a boyfriend but you never know who could be around the next corner right? I guess I got asked what I look for in a person when finding a date before so I’ll tell you too. I look for a guy who’s going to make me laugh and be there for me? I don’t really know specifics but when I find him I’ll let you know. It will happen when it happens I’m not worried about it. Well I wish you luck in your time at University and at finding the right guy for you and thank you for sharing a few things with us. We had fans and viewers sending in questions they’d like us to ask you and if you don’t mind I’d like to ask you a few of them now? Oh no I don’t mind at all. One of our viewer’s is curious about your accent, or well your lack of one. The question is “How did you become so good at speaking without the German accent? I saw an interview with you in it and I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t already know you were from Germany.” Well I’m good at it from years of working with a vocal coach and from learning a few different languages. I’ve been working on perfecting the ability to use many different accents and languages for years now it was something I took up doing when I was young because the many languages spoken throughout the world are all so different. I can currently speak 6 different languages. I’m fluent in German, English, French, Russian, Italian, and Japanese but I’m always learning new languages when I have the time to, currently I’m studying Spanish so hopefully I’ll get fluent in that too. The accents are something I’ve been doing since I started learning other languages, my father hired a vocal coach for me to help me learn how to properly form the words so my studies in the other languages would go more smoothly. We started working on just accents in general once it was realized I’m not completely horrible at it and after I got into acting since being able to have many accents is a good ability to have. Wow. So many languages, that’s really impressive. I don’t know how you can keep it all straight in your head without crossing over languages as you speak. I make mistakes sometimes or there are just words I can’t figure out how to translate properly without butchering whatever I’m trying to say. It can be tricky but like I said, practice. It’s still very impressive. Our next question is about your family, it’s known that your family is pretty well off? A fan wants to know if you miss them now that you’re here and what are your parents like, and your…sister you have a sister right? I do have a sister yes, Jaclyn Veidt she’s sixteen now and she’ll love knowing I talked about her in this interview seriously. My sister’s amazing, she’s my best friend and I already miss her terribly but I talk to her all the time so it’s okay. My parents are Margaret and Heinrich Veidt my mother is English and my father German. They met at some sort of concert when young and my mother claims it was love at first sight while my dad says it was love at first elbow since she accidentally elbowed him in the face. They’re happy together and are both successful in their own work but wealthy aside from my father’s family that goes back in money. My sister and I are their only children and even though we grew up with money I wouldn’t say we were spoiled. I mean there are rumors of us being children who grew up with everything we wanted and things but really we were just normal kids? They said no when we whined about wanting things and we had chores to do like cleaning our rooms. I wouldn’t say we grew up too different from anyone else other than our parents were often going to parties and things but that’s not too far out of the normal I don’t think. They made sure we got a good education and we had to keep out grades up to avoid being in trouble and honestly they’ve been so supportive since I was a kid and said “I want to be on TV!” and then when I got my chance they were right there supporting me and making sure that my dream didn’t crash and burn or that I didn’t let my dream get in the way of having a future by making sure I still had tutors and things for my school work so I wouldn’t fall behind in it all. Honestly my family is amazing and I do miss them all right now. Sounds like you are all pretty close, it’s nice that your family supported you while you were on the show and are still supporting you now. I hope your sister gets to see this interview and know you were talking about her and that it was all good things. Oh I’m sure she’ll watch it, she likes watching my interviews to find things I said that she can joke about or something. She always finds the funniest things so I’m looking forward to hearing what she comes up with from this. Sounds fun for the two of you. Another question we got quite a few of in different forms is just about you, what you like what you don’t like, what you think of yourself verses what the media says about you and how you handle things. They seem really curious to know what you’re like even when the camera’s aren’t aimed at you. Me? I’m…Not so normal but in a normal way? haha. I’m not exactly sure how to answer this one really since I mean explaining how I see myself isn’t as easy as you’d think? I’ll do the likes and dislikes part first since that’s pretty easy sounding. Let’s see the stuff I like…My family, I do like them a lot so they’re on my likes list. My fans because they’re all amazing and wonderful. Foods I like are strawberries, I’ve recently developed an addiction to oreo’s and the strawberry poptarts. Oh or the smores ones! Actually just poptarts since I haven’t yet found a kind I don’t like? I like my mom’s cooking because she’s honestly the greatest cook ever, I know all kids say that about their mom’s right? But I believe she is so she is. Favorite color is purple and favorite pastime is reading or hanging out with friends. I like shopping, cliché but I honestly just like being able to look at everything and shop but I don’t go crazy buying everything because I’m surprisingly careful with my money. My sister says I have a tight wallet because I don’t spend excessively? I like all kinds of music and I love going to shows for local artists because it’s always pretty cool to think that they might one day be famous and I’d have seen them before that when they were getting started. I love computers and studying them to find out what makes them work or what I can do with them and all the possibilities. I’ve been told I’m creative so my urge to make something new and awesome with computers may come from that. Haven’t managed it yet but that’s why I’m studying! It’s alright, when the good outweighs the bad I like to think that’s a good thing not a bad thing. So I thought of a way to word the question a little easier for you maybe? What are the differences between how the media describes you verses how you actually are? I don’t know if maybe asking that way helps a little but I thought I’d try. Yeah that helps a little, I mean the media hasn’t been truly horrible to me so far, yet? They are supposed to be selling a story and I understand that even if I don’t always like what they say to make it happen. I guess it goes back to them saying things like how I’ve always been privileged because of my family having money or because of my getting a leading role on a show or how they think I am stuck up? I grew up just like everyone else and getting the role on the show was honestly a dream come true but it could have been anyone’s dream. I just got lucky that time and they picked me. I am a big believer in luck, fate, and destiny. All those things that guide us and lead us down the path we were born to take. I might be on a TV show and I might have more money but I’m still a human being and a normal person at the end of the day. I think you did cover it yes, that was an insightful look into you even though you claim you’re not good at describing yourself. I would love to talk more but we’re running out of time which is a shame. I probably talked too much. Uh they said I’d be able to answer some more questions online for people to check out the stuff that didn’t get asked on the show here. So everyone go read it! haha. We’ll it’s been lovely meeting you and getting to talk, I think I speak for all of us when I wish you luck in your future and goals. Thank you very much it was lovely meeting you too. |
