For some women that may have been normal or even expected but this was the first time since Penny was in high school that she was in a bed that didn’t belong to her. In fact, this woman had only ever been in bed with one other man and he’d left her the moment she told him she was pregnant. Since then, Penny hadn’t let anyone in. Yet, there she lay, surrounded by sheets, breathing in the intoxicating aroma of the man she’d met only the night before. Along her bare spine, she felt him drag a finger alone the curve of her back and shivered as a trail of goose bumps rose where he touched. Rolling her head over, she smiled at him. This was the first time she was laying naked in a bed and didn’t feel so self-conscious in daylight that she felt the need to cover herself.
Her cell phone buzzed and she leaned down to find it discarded on the floor with twenty-nine missed calls and three times as many text messages, all from her brother. This one said very clearly ”Where the fuck are you?! You have till eight and I’m calling the cops.”. Penelope realized that he must be worried because she never came home. He had no idea what had happened but not coming home was way out of character for her. ”Be home soon. So sorry!” She shot back before rolling out of the bed and pulling her clothes from the night before one in such a rush that she put her shirt on backwards, realized what she did and pulled it off, to fix it. She wasn’t sure what to say to this man because she’d never done anything like this before. ”Sorry. I’ve gotta run.” She said, perfectly aware that the man hadn’t looked away from her once while she was dressing. Doug, her daughter’s father, never watched her dress, ever. So Penny found it flattering. ”It was nice to meet you.” She said, giving him a little wave and she turned for the door.
But he’d caught her hand and she turned around to find that he was standing behind her, as naked as he’d been in bed. ”Grab lunch with me later?” He’d asked simply and Penny looked up into those beautiful eyes, found herself smiling and nodding. Digging in her purse, she pulled out a pen, took his hand and wrote her number into the palm of his hand. ”Text me a time and place. I’m free all weekend.” She said, biting her lip a little before dashing out.
It wasn’t till she was sitting in a booth at the diner a few hours later, playing with her phone quietly that she realized, they hadn’t exchanged names or anything. That little phone number was all of the information about her (aside from how she was in bed) that he had. She didn’t even have that on him, at least not till he’d texted. When she got home, she’d apologized profusely to her brother, showered and kissed her daughter. It was uncle, niece movie day and the pair was off to see Finding Nemo in 3D. So when Penny got the text, she changed and was gone.
Now, she waited in nervous anticipation for the man she’d woken up to.

i'll be your everything , Rowan could recall every little detail from the night before. When he woke up with such a beautiful façade next to him, he knew exactly what had happened between them. It had been beyond anything he had experienced in his life. That wasn’t to say that some siren had stolen his heart and virginity. No, the twenty-nine year old had been with a couple women in his lifetime but no one had stuck out more than the beauty he had met no more than twenty hours ago. He could look back and remember the exact moment he had seen her walk into the bar with two friends at her side. Clearly, they were just a couple of young woman wanting to get out for the night. Maybe even escape the realities of life for a few hours but something clicked with Rowan the moment they had walked in. No, he had not been heavily intoxicated; he couldn’t even sense the first two beers he had finished but no matter the sudden urge to walk up and engage the woman that sent an electrical surge trying to pull them together, Rowan kept his distance. He hadn’t wanted to intrude but definitely kept an eye out for any opportunity available to him.
He had been patient for a good twenty-five minutes before she made stop by the bar for a drink. ‘This one is one me. Enjoy your night.’ He could remember saying as he offered to pay for her alcoholic beverage. It was a simple but inviting gesture. He knew it had been enough to get those wheels spinning in her head and when she finally finished a round of drink with her girlfriends, she had wandered back up to thank him. From that point on it was hook, line, and sinker but Rowan’s intent was not to sleep with her. He simply wanted to engage in a conversation with a woman that he, for some reason couldn’t not peel his eyes away from. It wasn’t just her physical beauty but her presence. Something told him that he needed to know this girl and was his very intention.
The conversations started. There was laughter here and there and drinks were finished one after another. Next thing he knew, they couple had taken their meeting back to his place and with every ounce of awareness, he slept with her. From that moment on, Rowan knew he couldn’t let this girl go, even as she tried to hurry out of his place that morning. He hoped she wasn’t trying shack and bail on him but there was some hope when she agreed his lunch offer. For the rest of the day, the twenty-nine year old couldn’t think about much else other than her. There were papers to grade and lectures to put together but his mind was set on their date. Normally one dated before sleeping with someone but the time frame seemed to be reversed. He hoped he could at least redeem himself and give her reason to believe that last night wasn’t about getting her into bed. It just so happened to end that way.
A few hours pass before Rowan stepped into the diner he planned to meet this mysterious woman. As he walked up and greeted the familiar face, he wondered why she was so enticing to him. “It’s nice seeing you again,” he walked up behind her with a smile across his lips. “I’m Rowan.” He offered his name, knowing that wasn’t information they had exchanged last night or this morning and held out a single lavender rose for her. “I hope you’re hungry.” He had an old soul when it came to woman. Chivalry could never die.

It was true that she had cared for Doug more than he’d cared for her, especially since it seemed he didn’t care for her at all, but even then, she didn’t feel like this. Something about his voice made her ears tingle. It was possible she’d never been more excited to see a man in her life and they’d known each other for less than twenty-four hours? One part of her brain wanted to caution her about what she was getting herself into but the other part sided with her heart and told her to take a deep breath and jump in with both feet. That was why she was here, she was jumping in.
His name. Oh, even his name was amazing. Rowan. That wasn’t a name she’d ever heard before. Oh if only she could just allow herself to sit there dumbstruck by the structure of his face, the sound of his voice and the overall godliness of him. But she voiced herself to appear intelligent and smiled, taking the lavender rose, clearly delighted by it and looking up into his eyes. ”I’m Penny.” She said, biting her lip a little as she looked at him over the rose. It took her a minute to get the strength to look away but she gestured to the seat across from her. ”I’m very hungry.” She said with a nod, even though that wasn’t entirely true. At this point, she was probably at the same level of euphoria as the rats with the probes in their brains that stepped on a pedal to have their pleasure center stimulated. She could keep pressing and pressing till she starved to death.
After he was seated, she set the flower down carefully on the table as if it were a delicate artifact and looked across at him. ”I’m glad you called.” She said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She wasn’t really sure where to steer the conversation from there. Maybe comment on how the only man who’d ever given her flowers before was her brother? But she knew that she should probably tell him that she had a daughter, especially if he was feeling anything like she was right now.
Before she had a chance to decide, the waitress came up and asked for their drink order. ”I’ll take a water please.” Penny replied, looking away from Rowan briefly to give a smile to the waitress who was no longer looking at her but taking delight in watching her date expectantly.

i'll be your everything , “Nice to be officially introduced,” he smiled at the woman as he took a seat across from her at the table. Rowan’s anxiety was getting the best of him, so instead of being as starved as he was before he first arrived, the twenty-nine year old was now more nervous than anything. It had been some time since he had really taken interest in women but with all the schooling he had put himself through, one couldn’t blame for not having taken the leap into something serious. Yes, he had girl friends in high school and dated throughout college but nothing that lasted long. It took a little more than looks to get his attention and even though Rowan had just learned the name of the woman he had slept with last night, he was more interested with her than he had with anyone in his life. There was no way he was passing up an opportunity that seemed so right and he could only open that their quick acts of affection didn’t scare her away.
“I’m glad you answered. I was a little worried you wouldn’t come.” He was actually more worried with the possibility of being given the wrong number. A silent rejection was always the worst and Rowan probably wouldn’t have been able to live with himself. Not only did he sleep with someone without knowing their name but he could have easily pushed her away. It was a strange thought process he was putting himself through but he was use to overthinking things. His mind scanned and thought out every little brain wave that passed through his head. He was always normally really good when it came to thinking before acting but last night he allowed feelings to get the best of him. Rowan wanted to apologize for his actions but he knew she could have easily taken it the wrong way and assume he regretted what happened. That was the last point that he wanted to get across but before he could explain anything, they were greeted by their waitress.
“Same and a cup of coffee please,” he gave the girl a quick nod and brief smile before looking back at Penny. He opened up the menu and placed it before him on the table and scanned threw the items until the waitress was gone. “I want you to know that last night was great. I just hope it didn't give you a bad impression on me.” Rowan chuckled softly as his eyes fell back upon his date. “I don’t normally do things in reverse.” Perfection was something that ran through his family. His adoptive parents were all about doing everything correctly and in the right manner. He was raised to be a gentleman and to do the right thing and even though he more than enjoyed last night, he was beating himself up for not thinking things threw. Now that his parents weren't really around to receive perfection from their son, Rowan felt obligated to do his best with others in his life. Even a stranger he had known for less than twenty-four hours.

Her fingers pushed back her hair some and she looked down at the table in front of her for a moment, eyes rolling up to look at him, that smile intact. What was it about this man that made Penny feel like a school girl, flying high on cloud nine and unafraid of falling and crashing to the ground? She hardly knew a thing about him, just that he was good in bed. Good enough to leave her body aching. Maybe it was her lack of sexual partners over the last few years or maybe it was because the sex had truly been that amazing for her but either way, her body ached from the previous night’s activities. Not only from them though, she ached with desire to just be naked with him again. Maybe, if she didn’t blow this date, she’d get her wish soon. If not, well that would just be damn disappointing. His admission that she might not come made her smile a bit more. The idea was absurd in her head. ”After a night like last night, I wasn’t going to miss it.” She admitted, a light blush coloring her lightly tanned cheeks. Even before their lunch date, he’d seemed so genuine and not just interested in the sex, even though that’s where they ended up. If she’d thought he was just a pussy monger, he’d have gotten no number if he’d even been suave enough to get her home in the first place. Penny had a daughter and wasn’t eager to risk having another child, especially not with a man she didn’t know. She also had standard and even on a low day, she didn’t just let anyone into her bed and last night, well last night was a particularly high day and here Rowan was, defying gravity as if it were as easy as breathing. Licking her lips, she looked up at him through her lashes as he explained that it was out of the norm for him too. She smiled shyly, nodding a bit. ”Last night didn’t give me a bad impression of you at all.” She said, still fangirling in her mind about how amazing the night had been. For once in her life, Penny felt beautiful sitting in front of a man. She didn’t feel like the awkward, leggy, turtle that her ex had made her out to be. She felt graceful and beautiful and it felt so good, it almost scared her. Maybe if it had been someone else but no, Penelope felt a sincerity about this man. ”I don’t usually do that type of think either.” she assured him quietly, eyes scanning those handsome features. ”I’m usually quite difficult to get into bed.” She said, dropping her gaze and keeping her voice low to avoid the judgmental glances of any eavesdropping ears around them. When her looked up again, that blush was gracing her cheeks again. ”Last night was just…different.” She said, biting her lip slightly as she watched him. ( click! - such a song for Penny! ) |

i'll be your everything , Rowan couldn’t help the relief he felt as she spoke of meeting him there at the café. There hadn’t been any hesitance on his part when calling her after she had given away her number. It may not have been normal to call the very day she had given it to him but he couldn’t resist the urge to see her again. Needless to say, Rowan didn’t want to come off as some weird stalker obsessed guy. He wasn’t necessarily going about wanting more with this woman than one normally would. Everything about their meeting and their time spent together was out of the ordinary; even the strong feelings he was having for someone he just met was unusual. In some ways, it worried him but more than anything it gave him a sense of hope. In the entire span of the twenty-nine years of his life, Rowan had never felt to strongly for someone and not so suddenly either. When he woke up beside the girl, he knew that he couldn’t pass up this opportunity. He has always been keen on going for what he wants but there were boundaries he wouldn’t cross with woman. He could be as persistent as hell when it comes to work or other aspects of life but love is one thing he wouldn’t worse. Even though the fear of her not showing up was put aside, Rowan would have been a gentleman and bowed his head in defeat has the woman declined his offer to take her on a real date. Thankfully, that hadn’t been the case.
“That’s good to know.” The smile on his face couldn’t fade even if he wanted it to. Everything she said made him feel as though he was on cloud 9. It was all quite unreal and new to him but that made this situation so much more intriguing for Rowan. “This is how I would normally do things. You know, date first and the rest later,” he licked his lips slightly. His mind was reeling and the memories of last night were constantly replaying in his head. “But I can assure I don’t regret it.” He stated, making sure that she understood his acceptance of last night. He might have been second guessing the order in which he did things but he definitely wouldn’t take back what they did together.
Rowan allowed himself to chuckle at her next statement. He wouldn’t say that sleeping with her was difficult but he definitely wouldn’t consider her easy either. She didn’t seem like the type of woman who crawled into every man’s bed. That was written all over her face as the blood started rushing to her cheeks. With the fact that she wasn’t easy to sleep with, made him feeling slightly special but he wouldn’t allow himself to get a big head. “Is different a good thing?” He raised an eyebrow out of curiosity. Different wasn’t exactly the words he was hoping for as he leaned back and ran a hand against the stubble across his chin. For a moment his eyes deterred from Penny as the waitress returned with their drinks and asked if they were ready to order. “You might need to give us a little more time.” He claimed, laughing again as he realized he hadn’t touched the menu once. Even though he was quite hungry, his craving for the woman sitting across from him was far greater. When the waitress walked away his attention was back on her.
