Girl can I tell you a wonderful thing? The cool night made Trucker feel that much more worried about giving Kenzie the oppertunity to ride on a bull. But the more he thought about it, the more he knew that every cowboy or girl had to try it at least once in their life. He took her hand, leading her through the back entry way for riders only. Walking through the first corridor, he turned around and planted a nervous smile on his lips. Finally they were into the big arena, there was no one there, just them by themselves. Trucker would have to keep that in mind the next time he and Kenzie just wanted a place to talk or hang around at. They had all over access so it would be the perfect spot.
Leading her to one side of the arena, he dropped her hand and put his hands on her shoulders "Now you stay here, don't move" Trucker dissapeared and then reappeared with a bull, holding him by the reigns he placed him in the stall, and motioned for Kenzie to walk over his way. If she was going to get the full experience, she needed to feel it right off from the start. He turned and looked at her and motioned to the bull "your steed my lady..." A crooked grin that was as fake as his feelings for this whole attempt grew across his face. He looked at her there on the bull and had almost wished desperately that he would have said no to this whole thing.
"Now remember, this ain't no bull ridin' like you see in bars in Texas alright? This is a real broon here. And if you ever feel like you're gonna fall, call my name and i'll be out there faster thank you can say 'Help' alright?" Trucker noticed that this had pretty much been the same thing he had said to Jaime when she first tried, except the bull riding in Texas part. He patted the butt of the bull. He had chosen the smallest and weakest one that he knew of, he was for sure that he wouldn't do as much bucking as once thought. When everything was ready, he nodded her way, opened the stall, and let him go.

Won't be whiskey. won't be meth. It'll be your name on my last breath. Kenzie rubbed her palomino's neck warmly as she gave her a quick hug. You did great tonight, Daisey. she said as she gave her mount another warm hug before she quickly yanked her girth lose and dragged the saddle from her ground tied mount. Daisey was a great horse, and had done Kenzie justice earlier with a 15.675 run. Kenzie couldn't complain about that with how green daisey was. In fact, she found herself quite proud of the young mare that she had started herself.
Kenzie tossed the saddle on the rack of her trailer turning with her soft bristle brush in hand and jumping back out next to her horse. normally she would groom for a couple hours before loading and taking off for home. She heard a familiar voice congratulating her and she turned and smiled warmly at him. Thanks, cowboy. Not too bad yourself." Trucker himself had won his ride that night, though he didn't look nearly as impressed with himself and she was with him, and herself. She had watched him, though it almost scared her to watch him, she had. She had never watched the bulls for the riders before, but she had that day. God, he was just so sexy.

Girl can I tell you a wonderful thing? Trucker eyed the mare behind Kenzie hoping that she wasn't the protective type like chase was of him. Trucker smiled at her, and her congratulating him on his victory. "Thanks, princess." He smirked before leaning against the stall, his hands in his pockets. "So, looks like you're getting better all the time? Still want a shot at the pros?" Trucker hated forcing the idea upon her like that, but he could honestly say he would love to have her along with him touring the circut, It would be nice to have a close...friend, there next to him the whole way.
"Thanks again, I don't know, did it look right? I haven't felt like...myself tonight I guess..." This night had been the first night Trucker had been back in after spending large amounts of time with Kenzie. Now he was worried with the thought that she wouldn't want him near her, or she would get bored of him. All in all, his feelings for her were increasing the more time they spent together. The smiles, the laughter that they shared was more than enough for Trucker to think that maybe...just maybe, he could work out with her in the end.
Taking a step closer to her he smiled "Come on, finish up and let's take a walk" His crooked smile coming in he waited until she was finished with the mare and then began walking with her. "You looked...fantastinc, out there today.." Trucker had been more nervous than he first thought. He only hoped that she knew he was talking about her, and not the time she finished with. His hands still in his pockets, he needed to desperately do something, anything.

Won't be whiskey. won't be meth. It'll be your name on my last breath. Daisey was a protective mare. She seemed to have this bond with Kenzie, and a mutual understanding that Kenzie hadn't had with a horse since her older racer had come down with colic, and had to be put down. Though, Daisey was good towards people. It was more towards horses that she didn't want around kenzie, which of course was good. kenzie didn't mind it either, she enjoyed having such a strong connection with her newest horse. it was safe to say that daisey was quickly becoming her favorite mount, and had the potential to be great. she had the potential to take kenzie to barrel worlds once again like she had when she was younger.
kenzie laughed slightly at his words. You keep calling me princess, and I might have to show you how much of a princess I am not. she smiled and gently gave him a little push as she began to groom her still ground tied mare, her white wife-beater style tank top slowly becoming covered in daisey's golden hairs that had began to come loose. she laughed as he mentioned the pros again. so maybe he wasn't aware of just how much she had done her past. she had once been up there in the pros, but when her little brother had died and her parent's split because her mother blamed her; she had given it all up. she wasn't sure if she wanted to go back there again. playing with the big boys wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Kenzie glanced over at Trucker when he said he hadn't felt right. Trust me... you looked great... That's why you won, cowboy. she winked at him as she continued to groom Daisey, ever so carefully. She had always been big into grooming, and was very obsessive compulsive about it. Maybe she was being extra compulsive then because she was trying so hard to ignore what she was beginning to feel for Trucker. She didn't want to be hurt, she definitely didn't want to fall for him. It wasn't her intentions to come here and get tugged into some relationship, especially with her career choice for the time being. She knew that wouldn't fly with him, she knew how protective he could be what with how adamant he was about her not riding a bull.
When Trucker took a step towards her instantly she tensed, but smiled at him anyways. It was easy to see she was more than comfortable around him, he just seemed to make her nervous. She knew now that this was because of her feelings that had been consistently growing for him since they had been spending time together. Kenzie smirked at him. Jeeze, hold your horses. Kenzie laughed, and walked around and grabbed Daisey's reins, taking off her bridal quickly and efficiently and sent her into her stall closing it, and double checking it before finding herself next to Trucker.
Kenzie walked slowly next to him, looking at the ground. Her mocha hair falling down around her face as she listened to him. She glanced up at him, instantly her cheeks flushed. She had this feeling, no, she knew he wasn't talking about her run. He was talking about her in general. Thank you, Trucker. She smiled sweetly at him, and reached over; letting one of her soft hands run gently down his arm while making eye contact for a split second as she continued to walk beside him, keeping pace with him. She could feel butterflies rising up in her stomach, and it was all because of him. Damn, her plans for not having feelings for anyone were surely flying out the window now. And it was all because of the sweet, sexy, and genuine hearted cowboy that walked closely beside her.

Girl can I tell you a wonderful thing? Trucker walked alongside of Kenzie. It hadn't been long since he had met her but it seemed longer after getting to know her. For some reason he felt so much at ease with Kenzie, like a best friend who shared everything with each other. Not only did they do just that, but Trucker was feeling a few things that he was pretty positive were too embarrassing to let her know about. He looked over at her, impressed by the way she was so comfortable around him, or at least he hoped. The last thing he wanted was for her to feel pressured or uncomfortable. Even though he had been a man of many women, he still knew how to treat them well with lots of respect, it was how his mama raised him and he wasn't going to let her teachings go to waste.
He was about to say something but was caught off guard by the contact she made with him. He looked down and back up at her beautiful brown eyes. Pretty much lost in them before he realized he was just in a blank stare he cleared his throat hoping to not make more of a fool out of himself than normal. "I um...I wanna show you somethin..." And within instinct, he took her hand in his, smiling back at her he began to run. Finally reaching the pier that had happened to be a block away from the arena was where he stopped dragging her along. It was one of the only few still in tact after the hurricane and he thought it was meant to be that way.
Turning around he smiled at her, there was beautiful sunset that could take anyone's breath away, and just above that sunset, a sky full of stars shone down on them. They were far enough on the other side of town that the city lights didn't disturb them too much. he looked at her and nodded "When ever I would get frustrated with myself, or whenever I would need to take a breather before or after a rodeo, this is where I came. It's a great place I have to admit. Pretty old...but still holding up good." Trucker paused for a moment before taking in a shallow breath nervously "I wanted you to see it because the other day I came out here, to think about something other than the rodeo..."
The pause he took was longer than first thought but when he finally looked back at her he smiled "I came out here because I was thinking about you..." His cheeks flushed but they were somewhat hidden by the darkening sky, he hoped that she wouldn't become uncomfortable by his forwardness. He was telling the truth and that's all there was to it.

Won't be whiskey. won't be meth. It'll be your name on my last breath. The cool air caused chill bumps to rise up on Kenzie's skin as she walked quietly beside Trucker. She glanced over, a soft smile placing itself upon her lips. She knew her touch on his skin had caught him off guard. It had caught her off guard a little too. One thing she had not expected was to actually end up liking him. She figured they would be friends. They had a lot in common, apparently always had. Sometimes she still wondered why it was that they had never spoke back in the days where she was at every single rodeo, and practically won everything, every time. I suppose it was just meant to be that they would become what they were later on down the road. Course, it wasn't like they were anything. Just friends... at this point any how.
Kenzie glanced up at Trucker, who was now looking down upon her, his eyes held on her. Instantly she felt herself blushing under his eyes. Something about his gaze seemed so intense at times, and she just felt like she was melting before him. She smiled when he cleared his throat before telling her he had something to show her and flashed her a smile. Breaking into a jog Kenzie tagged along slightly behind him. "Wait, Tucker..." she broke off laughing as she continued to run slightly behind him. "Where are we going." she giggled against but still followed him, allowing him to tag her along behind him. Kenzie couldn't help but admit that she was releaved when they finally came upon their destination. She surely needed to work out more often.
The sunset shone down and orange pink on the old pier. The only one that had survived the recent storms. She watched as the tide crashed upon the shore as she followed Trucker before he finally came to a stop and turned to look at her. She smiled as he spoke to her. It was clear this spot meant something to him, and it was quite endearing that he had been comfortable enough to bring her to his hide away spot. She smiled once more at him, enjoying how close they had become. "It's really beautiful. I can see why you like it here so much. Really relaxing." Kenzie peeled her eyes off of him and glanced around for a moment before turning back to him, the ocean breeze blowing her long brown hair across her face.
Kenzie listened as he broke off. She wasn't sure, but she felt that he was almost embarrassed by what it was that he had to say, or why he had been there. She watched him, her brow furrowing as scattered hair blew gently across her face. She heard his words. They hit her like a ten pound hammer. Instant realization washed over her. She understood why he had brought her here now, and she understood now that he had feelings for her, much like she had for him. That scared her. Instantly she felt her whole body tensing. He didn't know what she did for work, he didn't know that she was a virgin and could probably not satisfy his needs, he didn't know about her "nasty" scar on her back. So much he didn't know. "What about me?" was all she could think to say to him as she took a step towards him, a hand placing itself on his arm. She just wanted to touch him. She wasn't sure why. "I mean, what were you thinking about me?" her voice was quiet, and she waited. Preparing herself for the worst.

Girl can I tell you a wonderful thing? Suddenly, Trucker was very glad he showed her this spot. It was secluded enough to the point where no one would come and bother them, but it was close enough that they could easily walk back, grab their things and part ways. The unfortunate part that Trucker didn't want to face the part about splitting up and going their own ways until they came in contact again. And of course, he would just go home, crack open a beer and sit on the couch, thinking about her like he had been for the past week or so now. A gentle smile coming onto his face every once in a while, somehow getting there by the thoughts of their memories shared. It was a beautiful thing, and Trucker, never in a million years would have thought that would happen. He was always a man who was willing to please, and not for just one woman but to all who came across his path, now, if a woman were to make a pass at him, he wouldn't care, wouldn't even look, then he would search to find Kenzie's face looking back at him.
Trucker licked his lips and took a step closer to her, they weren't far apart but her realized that she had asked a question that he figured he should answer. "Well, I was just thinkin about these last few weeks and...all the time we've spent together. I mean... I really like bein around you, Darlin' I hope you know that..." He trailed for a moment, making eye contact with her once again. He took her hand and leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on her lips, leaving it there for about three seconds. Enough time to show that he cared, but not too much that would give her wrong ideas. He smiled when he pulled back, biting his lip nervously.
Trucker sighed and nodded his head back towards the ranch "Come on, we best be gettin back before people start to wonder." he took her hand in his and made sure to keep it there this time. Walking along side her, he just couldn't wipe the smile off of his face. Everything in this day had been going perfectly. Besides the weird feeling he had felt during his run, everything was fine and he wouldn't have changed it for the world. The idea of Jaime realizing her brother actually liked a woman more than sex bait made him smile a little. he knew he would never see the end of it, but if it meant he would be able to be around her, that was all that mattered. Now all that mattered was getting to know her better. Learning who she was as a person, maybe that would bring him even closer to her, at least that's what he hoped for the most.

Won't be whiskey. won't be meth. It'll be your name on my last breath. Kenzie too was happy that he confided in her enough to bring her to this place that he seemed to find solace in. She liked the fact that they had become so close, so quickly. She knew she liked him, and this scared her. She enjoyed the way he made her feel when she was around him, and she felt comfortable with him. He was the kind of guy that she felt comfortable being around in her oldest, most worn out clothes with no make up on and her hair a complete mess. It was nice to have a friend that she could be herself around, and Trucker truly was that.
Some may say that he was also oblivious to what she did for her things, however, she didn't think that what she did made her a different person. She did it to survive, to pay her bills, and to be able to afford the nice things that she liked. Everything else he didn't know was minor. Kenzie watched as he licked his delicious lips and took a step towards her before he began speaking once more. She smiled at his words. "Well, I am glad you enjoy being around me. I like being around you too." she said softly, gazing up at him with a sweet smile on her face. She let her eyes meet his as he took her hand. Then he leaned down, placing a short, but meaningful kiss upon her lips before pulling back.
Kenzie smiled as she watched him biting his lip before noting that they should get back before people began to wonder. This was true. The circuit could be a very gossipy place, and Kenzie sure as hell didn't need those rumors circulating. She smiled as he took her hand in his and began walking slowly beside her. She turned, stopping him for a second. looking up at him she smiled, standing on her tippy toes now, she placed her lips to his softly for a few split seconds before pulling back and smiling sweetly. "Apparently I like kissing you too." She smiled and turned walking as he walked beside her. She began thinking about his ride, maybe she was a distraction to him. Maybe it was her fault as to why he felt weird. But Kenzie couldn't help but think about how much she wanted to ride a bull. "Trucker... I really want to give bull riding a shot." she said softly, waiting for the lecture to ensue, she sighed. Such a beautiful night this had turned into.

Girl can I tell you a wonderful thing? Usually, the man's job is to be the one to make the first move and tell everything to the woman, well so far Trucker had been honoring that rule. He kissed her first, took her hand in his first, and well, it wouldn't be long before Trucker would begin to start asking her for dates. As they walked along the sidewalk, a large smile stayed planted on his face. He liked the way they were always around each other, and Trucker would have a hard time if she couldn't see him the night he was sitting alone in his apartment. He didn't want to force her, or rush her, for the first time he just wanted to let everything happen naturally.
Trucker smiled into the quick kiss she placed on his lips. Ten ton weights lifted off of his shoulders just by knowing that she had been okay with his action just a few minutes ago. But now, it was serious again, beacause she was asking about bull riding. Bull riding had to be the most dangerous sport out there. Trucker had spent so much time in the ER from riding them he just began to call it his home. Broken ribs, pelvis, arms, legs, even a collar bone once, it was definitely no place for someone who couldn't hold their own. Trucker let in a sigh and shook his head, "I don't know..Kenz..I just...I don't want you to get hurt.."
He looked away from her for a moment, remembering the time he let Jaime ride a bull and she had done fine. Trucker passed it off as bull riding runs in the family, but Kenzie wasn't his family and he would be liable for whatever were to happen to her. Maybe he could give her the smallest bull and that would help things just a little bit. After much consideration they were just a few hundred feet away from the arena when he said "Okay okay...fine you can ride one. But just once okay? Once I let you do this I don't want to hear about you tryin to go an do it again alright?" He sighed, hoping that he had made the right decision

Won't be whiskey. won't be meth. It'll be your name on my last breath. Kenzie had wanted to ride a bull for almost as long as she could remember. She would always sit in the stands and watch her Father do it, and she had always dreamed of doing the same. The adrenaline was mostly what she craved. That was probably why she was a barrel racer. The adrenaline of knowing if her horse took one wrong step at the kind of speeds they were going that everything could go wrong in the blink of an eye. Knowing that the half ton animal between her legs was just as unpredictable as death itself. She knew that every time she saddled up she was risking her life, and she knew that one run could be her last, but she was willing to risk it.
Kenzie knew that by her kissing him, it more than likely reassured him that his actions had been welcome. In all honesty they had been hanging out for a while as friends, and the kisses had not felt awkward. In all honesty, if Kenzie wasn't hanging out with Trucker, she was home in the barn by herself. Her house got lonely, and it got lonely fast, so more often than not; if you found Trucker, you probably found kenzie too. Sometimes Kenzie wondered if Trucker considered her his best friend, she considered him hers, but he also had a lot more friends than she did. If she did, she wondered how he felt about his best friend being a girl. She knew how other guys could be with teasing and such. She just hoped his friends wouldn't tease him to the point of him not hanging out with her anymore.
Either way, she wasn't going to worry about that right then. She sighed at his words, she could see the worry on his face. But she was a big girl, and she figured that if she got hurt, there was no one to blame but herself. She knew the risks involved, she had seen her Dad with broken ribs, collar bones, arms, legs. She had seen it all, she knew what could happen. She was willing to risk it, besides, she had plenty of broken bones due to horses too. "Trucker, I can do it. I know I can. Everything will be fine." she reassured him gently. She didn't want him to think she was trying to force him into taking her to do it, but she really did want it to be with him that she did it.
Trucker was knowledgeable of bulls. He knew what to do if something did go wrong. She trusted him to the right thing if something did go wrong. She smiled at his words. "I won't ever ask you again, I promise." she exclaimed as wrapped him in a quick hug of pure glee. She figured he'd only given in because he knew that if it wasn't with him, it would be with someone else. Cause, that was the truth. She had hoped it would be him watching over her, yet if he had continued to refuse, she just would have wooed some other cowboy into letting her do it. Better with Trucker, than some hormone crazed cowgirl chaser. Oh how happy she was, never knowing what laid before her.

Girl can I tell you a wonderful thing? As Trucker stood there against the wall, he obsereved the way Kenzie was handling the ride. And to his amazement she was doing incredible. There was no way in hell his mind would have thought she would have been able to handle it. Granted it was a small bull, but it was still a bull after all. It was usually the one they let the middle to advanced riders ride, even Trucker had sometimes had trouble on that one. But usually the smaller they were, the more predictable, or the less damage they could inflict on a person.
Everything was going perfect. He loved watching her up there, it just made his feelings for her flame even more than they already were. He smiled, a genuine smile, not a worried one like he had had for the past ten minutes before that leading up to all of this. And then in an instant, the smile was gone, and so was Kenzie. He watched her do the good thing and begin to dismount the bull, she did it like a champ and he was very impressed, but he wasn't impressed when suddenly he saw her hand caught in the rope, he stiffened hoping it was just his imagination that had made it look like she was having trouble getting out, he shook his head muttering to himself "no...no..." and then the muttering got louder before he found himself in a full out run into the middle of the arena "NO!" he screamed, finally reaching the bull and pulling Kenzie's hand free.
It had been too late by the time he had gotten there. He had hoped nothing too serious had happened, but by the way it looked, there was more than a small injury on her fragile little body. he croutched down and looked at her "Kenzie, Kenzie listen to me. okay can you hear me? Nod if you can hear me" He looked her up and down "Okay tell me where it hurts." His voice had a large sense of urgency, he needed to make sure nothing was punctured or torn so badly that her life would be absolute jeopardy.

Won't be whiskey. won't be meth. It'll be your name on my last breath. Kenzie had done as she was told, and listened to everything he was saying. She could tell in his eyes that he wasn't happy about this, and no matter how much she tried to comfort him and tell him that everything was going to be fine, that he wouldn't believe her till she truly proved it to him. It was small black bull. She knew he had picked an easy on for her on purpose. And she watched as he readied the bull, fastening the strap just behind the bull's front legs. Kenzie was not afraid of this bull, in her mind she couldn't see anything going wrong, she was sure that this one wouldn't be one that would throw her till she was ready to get off.
Kenzie smiled at Trucker as she crawled up into the chute, coming down knees first on the bull, using her spur to push him over a little bit so she could get her leg in. Kenzie wrapped her hand tightly into the bull rope, glancing over at trucker as he spoke one last time. "Calm down cowboy, everything is gonna be fine." she smiled as he opened the chute. Everything started well. The bull was bucking into her hand, and wasn't doing much to shake her. Though, she used her spurs to grip him. She even felt brave and began to poke him, pushing him for a little more than what he was giving her. Anybody would give Kenzie credit, though it was a small bull, it was her first ride, and no one could deny she was doing amazingly.
Kenzie held herself on a few more second before she swung her leg up and over the bull as a means to dismount, opening her hand to release the rope. Everything had been perfect, Kenzie felt her feet hit the soil, yet, her hand. It didn't come free. Kenzie felt the bull jerk around, throwing her like a doll beside it. She felt her legs slipping under the bulls, and his sharp hooves stomping and cutting her. Kenzie released a scream. "Trucker! My hand! It's stuck!" she yelled to him, trying to maintain her cool as the bull whipped back around the other way, sling shotting her underneath him more as his hooves came down upon her, over, and over again. Kenzie hadn't seen this one coming, and she knew what this could lead to. Was this her last ride?

Won't be whiskey. won't be meth. It'll be your name on my last breath. Kenzie had felt the hooves coming down on her, over, and over again. The weight of the bull was incredible for how small he looked. She knew for sure she was coming out of this with some broken bones. It had felt like forever that her hand had been hung up. Trucker had been right, she never should have tried this. She should have known that her Father was right about this. It was too dangerous for her, and she shouldn't have put herself, let alone Trucker in this situation. If something happened, and she didn't come out of this, she knew he would blame himself; and so would her Father. How selfish could she truly get.
Kenzie was still slightly conscious when he yanked her hand free and she fell feebly into his arms as he laid her on the ground. She felt pale, and she could feel blood on her face, and on her leg, making her jeans stick to her leg. She could hear him speaking to her, so she nodded slightly. He was asking her where it hurt. She didn't really know what to say to this. "Everywhere. My legs... they kill, so does my ribs. Can't breath real well." she gasped out, still trying to catch her breath which had been knocked out of her. Her eyes were closed, she didn't want to open them. She didn't want to see his face. She didn't want to see what she had just done to him. One thing she knew was, things were not good. She just hoped it was nothing that would keep her from riding for too long.
