He couldn't believe this was happening. A fucking hurricane. Really? And his bodyguardee was sitting there like a bump on a log arguing with him about whether or not they were going to wind up going to a secure facility to weather the storm. Nick Black had sent him off a text and let him know that if he needed to head somewhere where he could keep close watch on Auralee rather than going to the convention center, he was more than welcome at his place of business. Trent was more than thankful and had every intention of getting Aura there. But she was playing a battle of wills at the moment and he was damned well going to win.
"Seriously? We're in an apartment, Auralee. Elevated up and closer to the source of wind. Are you completely mental at the moment? Completely? There's no place safe here right now. It's bad enough that the wind's already whipping out there bad enough to send something hurtling through one of these windows. This isn't the time for you to-" She was on her phone tweeting or texting or something again. And he was beyond pissed. That was it. He opened the door to her closet, grabbed a bag out and headed to her dresser drawers. He didn't give a shit how embarrassed she was about him going through them at the moment. He just started shoving clothing into the bag.
"We're not going to the convention center, I have another secure location for the pair of us to weather out the storm." He said, completely ignoring the fact that this was not what she wanted at the moment.

auralee didn't necessarily think about her safety, especially if she knew she was in danger. of course, she hardly considered a hurricane dangerous - maybe that was because she never saw the true wrath of one and because her father kept her sheltered her entire life. whatever the case was, she just did not see the point in heeding the weather channel's warning and evacuating. in fact, she was a bit disappointed; she expected a lot worse than this, yet all she saw was a bunch of rain, and all she could hear was the south wall of the living room - the one with all the windows - groan as the wind whipped against it.
"well it's not like we're outside, pookie," she countered, looking up from her phone for a moment to shoot a glare at him. "i mean we just can't up and leave, anyways! we've got kiwi and umm..." she paused, stealing a glance at the sleeping english bulldog before busying herself with her phone again. she really didn't have another reason for them to stay, except the fact that she just wanted to. she had learned a long time ago, however, that trent was very good at being a spoilsport and the reason "because i want to" hardly made a difference in that man's mind. but that's exactly what daddy would have done, so she supposed she had to give him one thing - he was at least doing his job right, even if it kind of annoyed her that he wouldn't let her do at least some things.
she watched him leave the living room and venture into her room while she herself began to get up off the couch and follow him. when she saw which drawer he was going through, she squeaked and dived into the room, slapping his hands and wedging herself between him and the dresser as best she could. there were just some things in this specific drawer that he couldn't see. not at all. "ummm you don't wanna go in there, pookie," she said softly, grinning up at him and batting her eyelashes, "also wouldn't it be more dangerous to leave our apartment and go driving to wherever you're kidnapping me to? i mean if you really think about it we're safe just building a fort and roughing this thing out for the next couple of days. at least we still have power, too, right? yeah. see! all good."

Trent wanted to facepalm. "Then grab Kiwi and grab all of the shit you need for him, Auralee. I don't recall ever suggesting that we leave the dog behind." Because Trent never would have left the dog behind to begin with. He had a respect for animals that he didn't have when it came to the human race because animals just wanted the basic of bare neccessities and a little love every once and a while. They didn't talk back to you, they didn't bitch... And they sure as hell didn't complain when you were trying to get them to safety.
The weather outside was getting bad and he damned well knew it. He needed to get them to Nick's compound before it got too much worse and he knew he was running out of time. He didn't want to think about what he might eventually have to do in order to get her to get in the damned SUV and let him get her secure.
He wasn't surprised when she dove after him and started slapping his hands away and informed him that he 'didn't want to go in there'. Yeah. He wasn't sure what he'd wind up finding, but he damned well needed to get her ass moving. At least he was having some progress here like this. "Well, if you're not going to pack, I'm going to pack for you." He announced with a shrug of his shoulder as he kept on digging through her drawer and ignoring the way she was looking at him. And damn... Damn damn... some of those things in that drawer didn't leave a whole hell of a lot to his imagination either. He froze when he saw a scrap of cloth that was used to cover her and had to slam down a door in his mind at the mental image that cropped up. Bad. No. Bad bad bad Trent.
"Building a fort and roughing...." Trent stared at her incredulously for a moment and shook his head. "No Aura. We're not better off here roughing it out. For one, the power is going to be off any minute now. For another, the walls in this place really weren't built to take a hit. So go get Kiwi ready to go before I'm forced to do that too and wind up forgetting something for him before we leave." And as if to punctuate his words, the power in the apartment went out. "See?" He cursed and pulled a flashlight from a small holster attached to his hip and put it in her hand. "Use that to find what you need, Auralee. I mean it. We're leaving and that's final."

auralee had to wipe that grin off of her face, even though she found it increasingly hard to do so. to be honest, there were things in there that trent shouldn't ever see - personal items that were only to be seen by her eyes and her eyes only. but then there were some things that.. well.. she was glad he got to catch a glimpse of. she at least hoped he saw such things, anyways. it all added to the running game she was playing with herself mentally. maybe it wasn't just her, though; maybe he felt it too. sexual tension worked that way, right? i mean you couldn't just go day to day wanting to bang someone and not feel some sort of tension in the air. and that went for the both of them and anyone they interacted with, too.
"fine but i really really don't want to go, pookie. and uh.." she paused, turning her head slightly so she could look down at the slightly open drawer. "why do i need so many panties? i mean.. that's all you've been dumping into that bag.." she pointed out shortly, looking back up at him and grinning, only fully realizing now how close she was to him. of course, she had been close to him before. like, really close. super close. he was her bodyguard, for crying out loud. he probably saw a hell of a lot more than what her father ever did. but still, this felt different. maybe it was because of the circumstances and her mind - which was in the gutter more so than usual - or the fact that his cologne was causing her head to spin, and his lips were so close and kissable, and...
no. she had to stop those thoughts right then and there. and thank god the lights decided to go off when they did, because she couldn't see anything, save for the few stray lights originating from somewhere she couldn't quite put her finger on. she quickly took the flashlight and wedged herself away from trent. she stopped in the doorway to the living room before turning on her heel and leaning against the door frame. "please just pack me some real clothes, 'cause i really don't want to be naked around nick and his men." she paused, grinning slowly. "unless they're hot and single."
