As Temperance walked down the high school hallways, she took in her surroundings with a growing excitement in her chest- or was that anxiety? She wasn't quite sure whether it would be more appropriate to be excited or terribly nervous. It was her first day as a student teacher. It was a milestone, for sure, and made her feel so close to her future career as a teacher that she could taste it. But there was so much opportunity for her to screw it up somehow, now that she was working with an actual teacher. With actual students. It was one thing to talk about teaching methods on paper, or to teach a mock lesson to your peers in a university classroom, but this was real. Every mistake she made would effect other people. It was a lot to think about, and it was a lot of responsibility. Was she ready for it? Maybe. Maybe not. There was only one way to find out.
Turning a corner, she smoothed her skirt and stopped in front of a door, taking a moment to ensure the number that labeled it matched the one jotted in neat black ink on the palm of her hand. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, trying to mentally pump herself up for the day that awaited her. it wasn't a particularly taxing job that they were asking her to do, especially considering this is what she was planning to do every week day for the rest of her life. Maybe not chemistry, exactly, like this class, but organic chemistry. Tem had overcome a lot in her life. She could overcome her fears and her shyness. This would put her one step closer to her future. Anything that waited beyond this door could only be a speed bump, not a road block. She had looked up Tanner Hastings on Facebook (she hadn't added him, that would have been creepy, she thought), and he seemed nice enough. She could do this.
Finally, she opened the door. scanning the room. She'd forgotten how harsh the fluorescent lights could make everything seem. Her high school experience hadn't been a bad one, but she had been happy to get out. And then her work had led her straight back. She wasn't really complaining, because this is what she wanted, and there was no place that she would rather be. But it was still... interesting. Venturing first one step in, then another, she pushed a hand through her hair, trying to calm herself. She shouldn't be this nervous. She was being silly. Clearing her throat, she glanced at the clock. She was still a good few minutes early. "Um, Tanner Hastings?" she called out, just in case he was standing somewhere she couldn't see him, or she somehow hadn't noticed him. Perhaps standing there like she was, looking slightly confused, in the middle of the classroom, wasn't the best idea. Straightening her spine, she attempted to look more professional as she waited for either an answer or for this man to walk into class. She could do this. tag for haley as tanner, wearing this. yaaay.

[/style][style=width:220px; font-family:georgia; font-style: italic; text-transform:lowercase; font-size:10px; color: #5A5A5F;]no one really listens and honesty fades
life was something glorious in the eyes of tanner hastings, he never took anything serious and let everything roll of his shoulders. he loved to perform for his students and make his class a crowd favorite with edible experiments and the chance to show them that science, chemistry more so than anything, was actually a lot more enjoyable when there was very little thought being put into the mathematical application. with a cup in his hand, he was sitting in the teacher’s longue with a smug expression on his face while talking to the physical education teacher about something that tanner had no real interest in listening to but continued to be all ears for it. licking his lips, he lifted the cup to his lips and nodded along while actually thinking up the plans that the day was going to hold. the mid-day of the week meant that it was an experiment day, something that had the kids excited and anxious to actually sit in his class and listen to what he had to say before they took the lesson into their own hands and applied it to a fun, interesting project. his eyes flitted to the clock and he rose from his chair, which got a strange look from the teacher sitting adjacent from him who was in the middle of telling a story, ”sorry bernie, but I actually have to be on time for today, I got some…student teacher shadowing me for the next semester.” [/i]. the lack of excitement in his voice indicated to his whole idea about the arrangement but he was unable to turn down the offer as it was presented to him during a crucial exam and the male had been in a hurry to return back to his class, which meant he have a hasty reply. it was only later did he learn about what the agreement had been for and he groaned loudly to the idea of having a young, fresh student follow him around and learn his teaching methods. the idea of pranking the class and the girl had actually been a thought in his mind for some time but tanner knew that some kind of professionalism needed to be present, at least for the first day, and then his true colors would be showing. making a quick retreat out of the teacher’s longue, tanner heard the bell ring which resulted in an influx of students trailing from one classroom door to another in the attempt to reach their final destination before the next bell. standing by his own classroom door, he waited for a few students to pass before making the motion for a left turn and entering his classroom. two students were seated and he nodded to them, greeting them before looking to the shy appearing female that was situated in the center of his classroom. looking to the two students, he pointed to temperance while her back was still turned and spoke, ”girls, not bring your sister to school day yet.” which was recived with a few small chuckles and a shrug or two. tanner was now racking his brain to remember the name of the woman that would be by his side for the next two or three months but it escaped him which bugged him but he was sure that with the proper look that she had, the girl would surely introduce herself. the students were starting to pour in and he made his way around the female and headed to the front of the class. taking a piece of chalk, tanner slowly began to write on the board with a less than impressive, but still legible, handwriting. “class, this is your new student teacher”, was what he was attempting to write but when he got to the name portion of the sentence, he turned to look at the awkward brunette from over his shoulder, giving her a smirk, ”would you like to come up and write your name or want to just tell the class?” he asked, stepping closer and offering the piece of chalk to the girl in case she opted for the former option. tanner began to make quick note of who was here and who was absent from his class, going down the list and occasionally calling out a name for someone that he might have missed before looking to the woman and offering his hand, ”well I guess welcome to chemistry 11.”[/i], having no idea of what her name was still due to the fact that he had not been paying attention to what she had been doing, or saying.[/div][/center] tag: addie/temp <3 words: 774 outfit: minus the coatnotes: lets get this started <3.

She waited there for what felt like a few minutes, but she really wasn't sure how long. Temperance could feel the anxiety building in the pit of her stomach. Maybe this was a bad idea, this whole being a teacher thing. She was already rather shy as it was, and after her incident large groups of people made her nervous. It wasn't that she was claustrophobic, but she would have a panic attack from time to time if she didn't recognize anyone and couldn't get a grip on her surroundings. What was a public school but a large group of people? Maybe she could just leave now. Drop out of college. She could find something else to do, something that wouldn't require much interaction with people. Like a pet sitter. She could do that. Or a nanny, little kids weren't scary. If she left right then, who would notice? They would be able to replace her fairly easily.
Before she could work up the nerve to turn and leave, a voice sounded beside her. Decidedly male, and deeper than the average high schooler's. As he mentioned something about bring your sister to school day, that did it for her- the man behind her was Tanner Hastings, the teacher. She felt heat radiating off her face, and knew she must have been blushing. That was one thing she could never really get under control; whenever someone caught her off guard, her face turned several shades more red. Taking a deep breath, she turned to face him. And god was he good looking. He couldn't have been much older than she was. Her eyes widened and looked away quickly, her blush deepening. What was she thinking? This was inappropriate. Shaking her head, she moved to the side of the class as other students filed in and took her seats. She shouldn't let herself think that way. It was a dangerous way to be.
She watched as he wrote on the board, her hands smoothing her skirt and fidgeting as he did so. Her mind was running a mile a minute, thinking how she should stand straighter, breathe slower, appear more confident. She nearly jumped as he turned and spoke to her. She couldn't do this. She couldn't. Clearing her throat, she forced herself to walk forward and smile. "I'm Temperance Verbic, I'll be with you guys for a few months, I suppose. I'm really looking forward to this... and... yeah." She looked away and waited for him to say something. A welcome was good enough. And with that, she waited to get on with the day. tag for haley as tanner, wearing this.
