a dagger in my heart everytime that you have to go, it's like defeat was all he felt as another text message went unanswered over a course of nearly a week since their last phone conversation. charles had thought that they were getting back on track, believing that they were slowly morphing into something more cause he could have sworn that he had heard her smiling, a strange concept but it was possible. she sounded relieved and cheerful once more, something that had seemed lost in her since the last time that they had seen once another. it was hard to imagine life without her but he had done it once, so why not again? but charles knew the answer to that question already and it was easy to see that he had fallen head over heels for the girl in the time since they had reunited. sighing softly, he pocketed the phone, reading over the dozen or so messages that had either bounced back to his phone or were successful sent but just ignored. he could not get his mind off the blonde beauty no matter how hard that he tried and it seemed that nothing was going to tear his mind from her. he needed to see her, just to see that she was okay and then he would walk out of her life for good if that was what she wanted. charles wanted a proper goodbye though, and it seemed that his chance was granted as he picked his head up after having shoved his phone aggressively into his pocket and glanced at the blonde infront of him. "tahlia?" he whispered before calling her name out louder, a smile rising to his lips as his pace quickened to catch up with her, hoping that he was not mistaken this girl's own personal identity for his best friend. Tahlia looked at her phone, reading over the latest message she’d been sent, it was from Charles and though she really wanted to respond to it she couldn’t. If Logan found out she’d been texting him she’d be…well she’d be in for a world of hurt if truth be told. He was controlling and he did not like Charles at all because he was the jealous type. No matter how much she’d tried to explain that Charles had always been her friend and with the one time she’d tried to explain that she missed him as a bad memory she deleted the message and ran a hand through her head. She’d enjoyed the phonecall with him about a week ago, but she hadn’t been able to call him again since because Logan had been around in her spare time unlike that night. She had to wait for her chance to call when he wasn’t there so he wouldn’t know who she was calling or that a call was made at all. Charles’s name was now in her phone under an alias, Ashley since it put his number first on her contacts list and with his last name being “Ashmore” she’d just made a girls name out of the first three letters. Logan hadn’t questioned it while browsing through her phone ever so she figured it was safe being there with that name.
She wanted to call him, wanted to just have her Char-Bear there in her life like he’d always been but if she wanted to keep Logan she couldn’t. Logan wouldn’t love her if she was “flirting” with other men all the time and leading other men on and no matter how many times she tried explaining friendship he always just shot her down. She gave up fighting him on it because she didn’t need the bruises it would cause when she could just sneakily keep in contact with Charles instead. Looking around and trying to remember her list of things she’d needed to get from the store Tahlia pushed her sunglasses further up her nose to make sure they covered her eyes and then tensed as she heard her name and recognized the voice. The man of her thoughts made real, turning her head and seeing Charles heading toward her she picked up her own pace slipping into a more crowded area to try getting lost from his sight. If he caught up with her he’d see…and if he saw that wouldn’t be good. The bruise around her eye was barely covered by the big sunglasses and he always seemed to notice every little thing which was something she loved about him but that would be bad right now.

a dagger in my heart everytime that you have to go, it's like his text messages appeared to be getting more hostile, more persistant about seeing her at least once before the week was over but the week passed and there was still no reply. charles was at a loss of what to do, not happy with how things are but the type that would just go knocking on her door and demanding to see her. he was not the possessive type but she was his friend first, but apparently boyfriends came first in her mind—it was always like that though and charles was not sure why he had not noticed it before. the pattern was continuous and she got too hooked on the guy that held her heart and never once looked at the guy that was her shoulder to cry on when said heart got broken. jerks, perverts, they were all on her list of boyfriends but she never had a good guy and charles pitied her for that but he also resented it at the same time. he just wanted her beautiful eyes to turn in his direction and after spotting her, and calling out her name, she turned her back to him and walked faster. his pace ceased and the arm that had been up in the air and waving to her dropped in defeat back to his side, his eyebrow raised and he pulled his phone from his pocket, typing up a quick message to her and seeing if he even had the right girl. his eyes stayed on the form of said girl, glancing down to his phone and then up again and when he saw her own phone appear, charles knew that he was correct in his assumption. his pace started up again as he politely pushed his way through the crowd of people that were blocking his best friend from him, ”tally!” he called again and reached for her hand, hoping to swing her around to face him.[/div]

Tahlia knew it was probably either making Charles angry or worried that she wasn’t answering the texts, she sometimes tried to call when she figured he wouldn’t be able to answer without any intention of actually speaking to him keeping the phone out of sight but leaving it as a “well I tried to call you must have missed you” sort of situation but she hadn’t been able to do that in over a week now though and his latest message seemed to have a different tone to it but she couldn’t really tell through typed words how he was feeling. Now though she had a bigger problem really than trying to leave messages or get contact with someone she couldn’t actually be talking to. He was there in person in this crowd trying to follow her, luck was not on her side today and she really could have used some because it was a bad day for this run-in thanks to the black eye. Trying to slip through the crowd and become just another person in the masses instead of his friend that he could spot easily and know on sight she kept her head down and moved as quickly as she could. When she heard his voice closer now and felt a hand grasp her’s she knew she had lost the game of “getting the hell out of there” even though she could try another slip job. He’d just follow though so she paused in her steps being jostled as a man behind her didn’t pay attention and bumped her. ”Watch where you’re going.” she said while the guy used more colorful words implying she shouldn’t just stop in a rude way. Not turning her head the whole way to look at him she addressed Charles while chewing her lip, ”Hey you…funny running into you here.”

a dagger in my heart everytime that you have to go, it's like charles finally reached her after a hoarse throat and her name being repeated through his lips more than once, more than twice and it had grown louder each time. he just wanted to get her attention, see her face and he smiled in her direction as she glanced over her shoulder to spot him. he shook his head as he heard her and the male exchange word with another and he glanced at the ground, shuffling his feet as he wanted to jump to her aid but the male was gone within seconds and he was a loss of what to do. grabbing onto her arm, he pulled her closer to him, being as gentle as possible with his actions, ”hey..” he said hesitantly before giving another crooked, borderline goofy smile as both arms came to be wrapped around her smaller frame and he gave her a squeeze, ”did you hear e call you?” he asked with a slightly accusatory tone before dropping it and shaking his head, ”blah doesn’t matter! how are you tally? you…uh..” he asked, poking the lens of the sunglasses and giving a glance up to the rather cloudy sky that was high above them. tilting his head back down to face her, he raised an eyebrow, ”new..fashion trend? sunglasses at night…” he asked, but he had an off feeling about why she was adorning the sunglasses and his smile faded as they slipped and he saw a slight ring of black on her eyelid, ”tally..” he said, unwrapping his arms and reaching for the arms of the sunglasses that were covering the abuse laid out by her boyfriend. Tahlia should have known better than to try to get away from Charles, he knew her and wouldn’t lose sight of her in a crowd plus he could be persistent. Two things she liked about him because he could save her from getting run over at times and because he didn’t let her get out with lame answers ever. Of course that didn’t mean she didn’t frown on the very things she liked sometimes like now for example. The short exchange with the rude guy had her rolling her eyes behind her sunglasses before she felt herself pulled closer to Charles and closer to danger really since she was sure he wouldn’t appreciate what he might notice close up. With his hand on her arm she was glad for the sleeves of the sweater she wore that covered the hand-shaped bruise just a few inches above where Charles had taken hold. ”Hey you.” she said not liking the hesitancy in him and giving her own little smile still without looking directly at him hoping to play shadows and things to keep her face hidden a bit. Wrapping her arms around him she held tight wishing she could get hugs like this daily again but knowing it was a rare chance these days. ”I heard something but so many people around here right now so I wasn’t sure…sorry.” she said hoping to cover for her poor escape attempt that way. She flinched back slightly as he poked at her sunglasses and pulled a smile onto her lips, ”Someone’s gotta start new fashion trends around here.” she said and felt the glasses slide on her nose not reacting fast enough to push them back up. She knew the instant he saw and she took a breath leaning back a little and pushing them back up her face before he could grab them. ”Charles, don’t go ruining my fashion statement.” she said hoping to distract him somehow and knowing with a gut feeling that she wouldn’t succeed this time.

a dagger in my heart everytime that you have to go, it's like charles was hesitant with his touch due to the fact that the usual vocal girl seemed a little more timid today. she seemed off as though something was not correct with a chemical balance. she never pushed him away as she had and it had all started when she had given her hear to another, though that was painful to think about, charles just wanted her to be happy. the ring of black was rather noticeable against her pale skin, and when he reached up, his fingers twitched at the sound of his name leaving her lips. his breath noticeably hitched, already having a good idea of what he was going to uncover with the removal of her shades but charles had tried to brace himself to the best of his ability. he was half expecting her to have some kind of unusual make up that rang around her eyes but when he actually peeled the glasses away, his original suspicion was had. ”tahlia…” he whispered, pushing the glasses fully up, pulling her hair back in the process and allowing him a good full view of the blackened eye. his finger brushed over it, hissing under his own breath as though he could feel her pain even with his gentle touch, ”oh shit..” he whispered, tucking his bottom lip in with the curse word slipping from his lips and he could already hear his mother’s reprimanding voice ringing through his head, ”he did this, didn’t he?”, he asked with an unusual hiss to his voice as he knew that tahlia was a bit of a klutz and that she had a thing for those that were against the rules—but he had never witnessed anything like this on her. he shook his head, moving her sunglasses to drop back over her eyes as he noticed a few people staring at her as if she had two heads due to the blackened eye. that was a usual sight on a male but for a female, it was a head turner and charles did not want to cause anymore trauma for her. ”why do you stay with him?” he suddenly blurted out, dropping his hand to the spot behind his neck, rubbing at the skin with an awkward gesture, almost as awkward as the outburst that had sprung from him.[/div]

Tahlia really didn’t know how to act around him now that he was becoming more aware that she’d been avoiding him. She hadn’t wanted to avoid him but she was afraid he would think she did choose for it to be that way. She knew what she could be like, realized that normally when she got into a relationship she could get a little wrapped up in it but she’d never gotten so bad she never talked to Charles while in a relationship before which thinking about it now would make sense for him to question since he knew her better than she knew herself sometimes. She didn’t actually try to stop him as he reached to remove the sunglasses, knowing that would tell him just as clearly as seeing it would do and took a breath holding it without realizing as he got a look at her and the sunglasses weren’t being a barrier anymore. Hearing her name fall from his lips she gave a sigh as she released the breath all at once and looked anywhere but at his face. She couldn’t take what she would see in his eyes right now as he looked at her.
She just knew she couldn’t and so she didn’t face it full on instead letting him look and noticing the weird looks people were giving her. It tempted her to reach up and snatch the sunglasses back onto her face so it would be hidden once again but resisted. Her head jerked back a little when his fingers brushed the bruised skin and she sucked in a shaky breath wishing he wasn’t seeing this. ”It’s fine Charles, you know I’m a serious klutz anyway right? Simple as that you know?” she said knowing he wouldn’t buy it but hoping he’d at least go along with it for her sake. When the sunglasses dropped back down into their place her eyes shifted back to him and she was glad since the looks were getting even worse now from people who noticed the bruise and her reaction to his touch. His question had her blinking in surprise as she tilted her head a little while looking at him. ”He loves me…and you know I love him too that’s why. Like I said though I’m a klutz so no big deal.” she said adding the last part to try once again covering what they both knew was really going on.
