you're more than a friend so can we just stop pretending now? his class had finally ended after nearly three hours, going into overtime due to a tangent that the professor had wondered off to. his notebook was covered with a mix of information that was on the board along with what the professor had verbalized and some doodles on the side of the paper. he was bored through most of the lecture, having been caught in a daydream mode, pulling himself back to only a few short months ago where he had been in germany. there was no denying that mathias missed his homeland but he had a goal to do while here and though school was a priority, so was the protection of the actress that he was under contract to watch over. he could not actually let her know that, but they had known each other a little in germany, their families being connected but this was the first time that they really got to know each other. gwen was something completely different than what he had been told about, expecting even. he thought because she was a big time actress back home, that she would be a bit of a diva, a star, wishing for the limelight while in america but that was not true. he enjoyed her company because of how humble she was, a sweetheart, an angel in disguise and he liked that, maybe a little too much. holding the door open for her, asking to hold her stuff, offering to pay for her ice cream when they ventured out together to get the frozen treat was nothing short of being a gentlemen but there may have been in ulterior motive to his mannerisms (actually there was but he did not need that to be known). he was meant to watch her, not crush on her and want to protect her from the other guys that watched her as she walked past because mathias could easily admit that gwen was a beautiful girl. he had decided to surprise her by her classroom door, watching the brunette through the window as the class was dimissed and stepping aside as the door swung open and the entire lecture hall emptied out. his eyes scanned the faces of the feminine looking people to him, finally catching sight of her and grabbing onto her arm and effectively, pulling her away from the group. ”hey gwenyy” [/b], a nickname that he called her because her name was far too long and it was kind of cutesy, ”didn’t mean to scare you but you looked so lost in thoughts, was kind of afraid that you would bypass me completely which you almost did.”[/b], giving her a grin and a chuckle as he ruffled her hair, ”ice cream?”[/b] he asked in a hopeful voice, letting go of her arm all together and taking a step back which allowed her the chance to have her personal space back. Gwen glanced up at the clock on the wall as she tapped her nail against the edge of her laptop lightly. She’d already finished the assignment while the teacher had rambled on about a program she already knew well enough to use in her sleep. The class was one that was a big like a refresher course to her because of knowing most of what they were working on already but it was a requirement for her studies so she’d had to take it because testing out in this wasn’t an option. She glanced at her screen wondering how long it would be before the teacher realized she wasn’t actually following along with the step-by-step instructions being given but already done with everything and decided if the teacher hadn’t noticed by now then he wouldn’t at all. Opening up a new window she started doing research for another assignment and working on getting some of that done. Her fingers danced across the keys as she worked and her focus was lost until the girl behind her swung her back around which hit her in the back of the head. Throwing a quick glare at the girl she closed everything out and tucked her laptop into its bag before slinging it over her shoulder and following the mass shuffle toward the door and freedom. She was glad not to have any more classes that day and the chance to do something fun since she’d gotten a good portion of the other assignment done. When her arm was grabbed she let out a small yelp sound ready to give the person a verbal beat-down till she saw who it was and her scowl morphed into a smile. ”Hey matt!” she greeted her best friend giving him a quick hug and staying kinda close to keep out of everyone moving by’s way as she listened. She laughed and shook her head, ”No…not a problem at all we’re good. I probably would have done exactly that.” she said rolling her eyes at herself with a grin and tried to duck away from the hair ruffling. ”Ice cream yes, and you’re buying since you just screwed up my hair.” she said running her fingers through to try combing it back into place.

you're more than a friend so can we just stop pretending now? he saw the scowl first. letting go of her arm in a quick instant in case she did decide to retaliate, which would spell bad news for the male because that would mean a black eye or a twisted hand—either way, he knew that gwen was able to take care of herself. however, mathias did not want her to, he wanted to catch her when she fell, watch her back in times of trouble and be there for her. chuckling to the variation of his name, he shook his head in her direction, ”you’re so American now.” [/b], he grinned, giving her a soft shoulder bump to show that he was completely kidding. mathias was well aware that she was still in touch with her hometown roots but there was no denying that some of the american slang, mannerisms and customs had rubbed off on the brunette, they had even rubbed off on him. he had never known some of these words, tilting his head but now that he has been in american for some time, certain phrases and words are slipping into his everyday vocabulary and his mother has taken note of this as well. ’ell…that is hurtful, I thought you would at least notice your best friend in some light…”[/b] he said, shaking his head once more with a faux shame before picking his head up which held a grin on his lips. nodding, he chuckled as his fingers rushed through the tresses of her hair, ruffling up the roots and giving her a few fly aways before pulling back, ”that is a fantastic look for you.”[/b]. giving a low shrug to her words, he stepped closer, holding his arm up for her to take so that he may escort her to the ice cream shop that was only down the street from the campus, ”I wasn’t going to let you pay anyway princess. ready?”[/b], flashing her a smile before furrowing his brows, looking at his arm and dropping it, a sheepish chuckle parted from his lips, ”apologies..”[/b] he said, reminding himself that he was meant to be the friend and guard, not the prince.[/div][/center]

Gwen was the sort who thought she could defend herself against anything, and she did alright in holding her own when she needed too. Knowing how to throw a punch or do some damage to anyone attacking her went a little way toward making her parents relax a bit in worrying about her. She also knew to make sure who she was punching was someone who deserved it though and Matt didn’t deserve to be punched since he was her friend and someone she trusted not to hurt her. Hearing his comment about her being “so american” she laughed lightly and shook her head, ”Just doing my best to blend in? Not a full on American but those accent classes I took plus learning the lingo helps me seem more like I am just another student.” she said with a wink and a grin. He knew who she really was, and she trusted him not to cause an issue with it since he was actually really cool about all of it. She was glad she had someone who knew and that she could talk to easily here because without him she’d be pretty lonely she figured. Giving a little frown she shook her head at him before leaning it lightly on his shoulder playfully, ”Sorry Mathias. You know I normally wouldn’t miss you at all but I’m lost in computerland mentally. Forgive me?” she asked lifting her head and giving a playful pout at him. She knew he was joking around mostly from the grin on his lips but still felt a little guilty she hadn’t spotted him. She rolled her eyes as she finger-combed her hair back into place and stuck her tongue out at him childishly for a moment before laughing. ”Looking like I just woke up from a nap is a good look? Since when?” she asked amused by that thought and looked at his arm as he spoke before snorting. ”I could pay if I wanted too and nope you offered it so it’s mine.” she said reaching out to hook her arm through his even though he’d dropped it and giving him a smile. ”Lead the way to cold sweet heavenly goodness.”
