there were just some nights, lachlan was happier than a clam that he was who he was. in the end, the fortune and good looks that he lacked when he was younger always won. either he'd get what he wanted, or he'd avoid whatever it was that he didn't want - that's just how things worked in today's society. rich people were privileged. beautiful people were idols and role models. mash those two things together and you got one giant breeding ground for narcissistic bastards such as lachlan. not like he had much to complain about, however. last night had unfolded quite eventfully for the twenty five year old, and it might or might not have had something to do with the beautiful blonde currently buried in his chest. the answer was quite obvious, though. especially if you could see the giant, idiotic on his rosy red lips.
lachlan would never thought that he would be good enough for challis. he remembered always dreaming about a night much like this one, but to believe it could actually happen? the thought was something completely unfathomable in its own right. but here he was, and there she was - their bodies covered by a thin layer of sheets, and their clothes hastily thrown towards the end of the bed. yep; it had really happened, and lachlan didn't know how many times he had bit the inside of his cheek to make sure he wasn't dreaming.
he craned his neck down slightly to place a careful kiss on the exposed, fleshy expanse of her neck while sneaking his arm under her and wrapping it around her small. he grumbled something inaudible before resting his head on the wall his mattress was pushed up against. and all that he could do at that moment was watch her sleep in a completely none-creepy way. okay, so.. maybe it was a tad bit creepy. but the moment he saw she was stirring in her sleep, he made sure to quickly avert his eyes elsewhere, even though he continued to trace erratic patterns on her shoulder blade with his finger.

blissfully lost in dream land, challis was completely unaware of the grave error that she had just made. her eyes were closed peacefully, giving her an almost angelic look with her long blonde hair tousled about her head in the haphazard way it always was after such an eventful night. her chest rose and fell, just covered by the thin sheet that she was tangled up in as she rested herself against the chest of the male beside her. her night, that part of it spent sleeping, had been peaceful and relaxing, a deep slumber, not the fitful ones she sometimes experienced after drinking too much.
the gentle kiss and movement were what stirred her to wakefulness, causing her eyelids to flutter, but it took several long moments for her to final begin to stir, nestling her head against his chest, a soft content sigh falling from her pink lips that had gradually lost their reddish hue from her lipstick over the course of the evening. her mind slowly began to work as she kept her eyes closed, remembering the events of the evening, allowing a lazy smile to spread across her lips. one night stands were not odd for the young woman, though it had been a while since her last, and she was long past the stages of feeling shame when she woke in another's bed, especially a bed as comfortable as this one. the illusions of commitment were never on her mind. a simple night of passion and fun, that was all she wanted and all she ever received, sometimes with connections for further nights of enjoyment. last night had been far from disappointing... very, very far from disappointing, in fact. all the more reason for her happiness in the morning.
finally her blue eyes opened, adjusting to the lighting , focusing on the decor in the unfamiliar room before she slowly lifted her head to set her eyes on the male's face, soft smile widening as they rested on his very attractive features. "well, good morning handsome," she purred, placing a kiss on his jawline as she adjusted herself so that she was more facing him.

lachlan hummed quietly when challis was finally awake enough to utter a good morning to him. he closes his eyes for a moment and rolled his head so that it was resting close to hers. "morning," he mumbled sleepily while advancing the small, erratic patterns his fingers were drawing on her shoulder blade to the middle of lower back. and at that moment, all he could possibly muster up was silence. he just needed to bathe in this moment, and let it all sink in. he just had the most amazing night with one of the most amazing girls ever. in fact, last night could've been the worst night in his existence (not likely, however, because of high school), and it still would have been the best damn time of his life, only because the blonde nestled close to his body was there with him. god, how would his friends from high school react to this? if only lachlan had kept his ties with them, because this.... this was definitely brag worthy, even if lachlan wasn't the type to brag about something he had done plenty of times before. one night stands were a common thing for him. not that they were happening every single night - or every single week, for that matter. they were rare, but in their own right, common as well. he was no stranger to them, in simpler terms.
lachlan watched his entire apartment from the bed they were both laying in. one of the advantages of a studio apartment? you see everything at all times. and right now, his apartment was cold and blueish, presumably because of the overcast and drizzle outside, which he could see tiny hints of through the kinks in his blinds covering the ginormous windows on the south end of his apartment. he paused from his intent watching of the white wall in front of him to stare down at challis. well.. what the hell did he say to her, now?
"hungry?" food was honestly still one of the last things on his mind, however.

perhaps falling so easily into bed with the first good looking, charming guy she met wasn't the wisest decision, but challis never felt that she was an idiot about her one night stands. she still had sense, even if that sense was easily influenced by the appearance of the guy who happened to catch her eye and show interest in her. she wouldn't jump into bed with any shady guys, and if her instincts told her to stay away from someone, no matter how attractive they might be, she would find her excuse to leave them, call a cab, and go home. nor did she need to sleep with a different guy every time she went to the bar. she would be just as happy, or at least almost as happy, just going to a club with some of her girlfriends, getting drunk, having a good time, and going home to giggle and laugh with them for the rest of the night. she knew that some shady characters lived in myrtle beach, the newspapers spoke of them every week, but as long as she was careful there was little for her to worry about, right?
"morning," she smiled, nestling against him again, enjoying the feeling of the patterns his fingers traced along her skin. she didn't like to be one of those girls that ran the moment she woke in the morning, or tried to sneak out in the dead of night after the fun times were over. she didn't feel any shame in spending the night at anothers place, so why should she be the one to bolt? "hungry?" she wasn't sure how long passed between the two words, being so relaxed that it didn't really matter much to her. she shook her head slightly the best she could in her current positioning, "not especially." it came with the job. she so carefully controlled what she ate, not wanting to gain even an extra pound, that she wasn't a fan of eating at other's houses. she couldn't watch her calories well when she didn't exactly know the products that went into the meals. "you wouldn't happen to have any tea or something, though, would you?"

challis was one hell of a woman. there was absolutely no denying that at all. and like all women, she was just as confusing as she was gorgeous. he looked down at her when she said she wasn't particularly hungry. he grunted softly and stopped the movement of his fingers on her bare skin. he was about to open up his mouth and make a comment about her eating habits, but he quickly bit his tongue and quieted himself down. he learned the hard way, several times in fact, that it was never a good idea to question the way a woman ate. ever. even if she was as flawless and skinny as challis was. ever since lachlan was in high school, he had always figured that challis wasn't as perfect as she led people to believe. of course, that could've been thoughts that were merely created by the current situation he found himself in. being bullied tended to do stuff like that to you, didn't it?
maybe," he answered slowly. lach honestly sucked at grocery shopping, and he'd be surprised if he even had stuff for breakfast. he eyed the kitchen carefully before his eyes rested back on the top of challis' head. "wouldn't count on it." he added in softly, losing himself in deep thought.
right now would've been the perfect time to tell her. tell her everything that had been on his mind as of late. more importantly, it would've been the perfect time for him to refresh her memory when it came to his identity. she didn't even know who he was right now, which really wasn't all that surprising to begin with - he had changed a lot since they last saw each other. challis, on the other hand... well, the opposite could be said about her. for as far as he could tell right now, she was the exact same as she was in high school. that could've been both a good and a bad thing, he assumed. on one end of the stick, he was viewing her like all the other, more popular guys in high school got to view her. on the other end, he was still treading on thin ice, not to mention his nerves were completely wracked just by spending this much time with her, or being this close. hell, despite how great the previous night might have been, it still didn't alleviate the heavy thought process in his mind.
and then complete and utter verbal vomit. just what he needed.
"you know.. you haven't changed since high school."

maybe, wouldn't count on it." she hadn't been expecting for him to say yes, but it was worth a shot. not many people her age, esepcially those of the male gender, had a supply of tea on hand. it wasn't as though they were aware that the girl they would be waking up with the next morning had a habit of having some instead of breakfast for something to occupy her mouth instead of having far too much food that would pack on the pounds. challis had always been a girl who'd watched her weight, knowing that if she didn't she would be looked down upon by fellow cheerleaders, seen as 'letting herself go', but her modelling career had only convinced her even more that she needed to be careful of the food she ate. critics in her industry were like hawks, preying on any slight imperfection they could see. it was a vicious business, but one that challis was absolutely addicted to and would ever want to be forced out of, which was why she took her physical appearance to be so important.
"you know.. you haven't changed since high school." the words caused every muscle in the girl's body to tense for a moment before she pushed herself away from his body, one hand gathering up the sheets to cover her chest as she sat up, eyes narrowed at him. how would he know what she was like in high school? he hadn't been there.... had he? no. she would remember a face like his. she was sure of it. odds were that he would have been a part of her crowd, one of those she saw every day, perhaps one of those she'd spent a night with... she certainly would have remembered him. something in the way he'd said it though... it made her suspicious, and when she was suspicious she became defensive with a glare and a biting tone: "what the hell are you talking about?"
