It was weird being an ocean away from his parents but Maverick was enjoying most aspects of it. He could be a twenty-three year old male all he wanted but there were times he wished he was still a five year old boy snuggling on his couch with his mother. Of course with his mother, it didn't matter if he was five or fifty, she would have snuggled him in a heartbeat. Such was the side effect of having taken so long to be conceived. Getting dressed through a series of yawns, Maverick sighed. The time different was still getting to him and honestly, he just wanted it to be Christmas vacation so that he could see his family again. Once he was dressed, Maverick mused a hand through his hair, pulled his bag over his shoulder and pocketed his hand to help shield it from the cold as he wandered along. He was hoping to find a small cafe or something to eat at before he headed off to class. Pulling out his iPhone, he held the middle button down to activate the Siri function. "Oi. Where can a man get something to eat around here?" He asked, sure that she wouldn't be able to process his complex request but giving it a shot anyway.

ela awoke that morning in some stranger's house, the light shafting through their windows blinding her momentarily as her eyes fluttered open for the first time that day. she groaned silently to herself and covered her eyes with her forearm, but when that promised to do no good as far as allowing herself to catch a few more winks of sleep, she cursed to herself and flung her legs over the side of the couch, not realizing she wasn't alone in the cramped living room until her feet came into contact with someone's side. the person yelped and further entangled themselves in their blanket before falling silent again. ela wore a look of bewilderment on her face as she pulled her jeans on over a pair of sore legs, and for a moment, she was tempted to find out who this stranger was, but she decided against it. her walk of shame out of that person's house was something she had practiced many a times, and it wasn't long before she heard the click of the apartment door behind her and she was gone.
she began walking aimlessly down the sidewalk, not entirely sure where she wanted to be right now. her head was pounding and her entire body was disliking the idea of moving around so early in the morning, but she really had no choice. not unless she wanted to endure whatever morning after wrath said person would bestow upon her.
it wasn't too long after she had escaped the apartment complex and begun wandering down the sidewalk that she smashed face first into something, causing her to take a step back and cover her face with her hands, uttering a slew of curse words. "watch it!" she hissed, although she may as well have been the person not watching where she was going. she looked up at the stranger and, despite how hard his looks made it for her to be angry, she glared at him, one of ela's signature stares.

[style=width:240px; height: 240px; background: url(http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mem7s2yVuJ1ralsuwo1_250.jpg)] I'm the devil on your shoulder telling you that love is blind ”Oi. Sorry mate.” Maverick apologized as the little being demonstrated her ability to act like a cat. He even lifted his hands in a ‘don’t shoot me’ manner, stepping back a few steps to put a little distance between them. At this moment, his phone decided to inform him that she had actually picked up on his request for food. He was delighted at this news and looked hurriedly at the food but each of the choices were as foreign to him as he was to this land. Fuck all. He scrolled through the choices his brow furrowing before he looked up at the cat woman. Her glare didn’t so much as put Maverick off in the slightest. His family, minus his mother, was full of glaring but that’s what happened when your grandfather spent the first nineteen years of his eldest son’s life beating his three children to the point that they pushed their bedroom furniture in front of the door and slept in the same bed for protection. His uncle, Ozzy – said oldest son – was the worst of them all but even as a baby, Mav had taken a liking to him. Either way, the girl’s glaring was useless and she might as well have been wearing a neutral stare. ”Where’s a good place to grab some breakfast?” He asked her, his English accent contorting the words in a manner which was unnatural to American ears but alas, that’s what accents did.
