Lily had just finished up at the club and had taken a few minutes to head home and change out of the dress she had been wearing and into something a little more appropriate for where she was headed. She'd also filled up a thermos of hot chocolate. She wasn't sure if Haiden would wind up liking his hot chocolate like she did, so she brought along a bag of peppermint leaves that they could add to it all of they wanted to. She scooped up two different blankets on her way out the door and then made her way back to her car.
The drive wasn't that long and it wasn't too long before she was pulling into the parking lot for the field that she knew Haiden would be at somewhere. She tucked the blankets under her arm and grabbed the thermos and the two mugs she'd grabbed with it before she set out on the field. It didn't take her too long to find Haiden. She smiled brightly as she set the thermos, mugs and other blanket down, shaking the other blanket out, she wrapped it around his shoulders and then settled in beside him. "Blankets and hot chocolate as promised." She pulled two baggies out of her pockets. "Annnnnd marshmallows and peppermint if you want it. I came prepared." She grinned at him.

Haiden was bored sitting at the field watching over the games since people had decided that, as of late, it was a wise idea to have fights. That was a big no-no in Haiden's leagues so he made sure that the second her heard about them, he was there to put himself in the middle. So onto the chat room he went and wound up convincing Lily to come sit with him. It wasn't terribly hard to convince her, which made him happy that soemone wanted to hang out with him.
The sudden weight of the blanket on his shoulders made him turn in his spot on the back of the gator. A smile lifted his face, his features brightening even more at the mention of mint leaves. "I thought I was the only person who used mint leaves!" he laughed gently, taking his blanket and offering to share it. "Share some body heat? I'm frozen."

She was happy to see him smiling at the very least. It was nice knowing that she'd managed to brighten someone's day and she certainly couldn't resist the urge to smile right on back at him at the moment. It didn't sound as if he was having too pleasant a time as of late and she genuinely wanted to change that. She hated it when people she knew were upset in any capacity. She wasn't so naive as to think that she could stop everyone in her life from getting into those moods, but she hoped at the very least that she could help them along into a better one.
"Nope! My mom always used to throw peppermint into our hot chocolate as I was growing up. I loved it." She admitted to him. She watched as he made room in the blanket for her and nodded when he said he was frozen and wanted to share body heat. She didn't mind in the least. She climbed up beside him and snuggled right on into his side, taking her edge of the blanket as they sat there. "So anything interesting going on out here... well... besides the whole game thing, I mean." She smiled.

It had been a rough week or two with everything in his life going on. Between Trent being an asshole, the issues with Aura, now Marley, his brothers ex showing up, and the looming anniversary that was in a week or so. It was a lot of things to be on one persons mind and Haiden was never good at prioritizing his thoughts. Maybe that was something he needed to learn how to do, otherwise, it was just a bad idea to leave Haiden alone to his thoughts.
"Your momma was a smart woman," he winked with a gentle smile, remembering his mom doing the same thing with their hot chocolate. From what he understood she still put mint in the hot chocolate but he couldn't say for sure since he hadn't been home in almost two years. His eyes turned to the field when there was a bit of yelling, making sure there weren't any fights he was going to have to break up before he brought his attention back to Lily. When she snuggled into his side, his arm slipped around her waist to keep her close to him. He couldn't help but snort at her question, giving a shrug in response. "Well, I have to sit here for the next two games because apparently it's been a wise idea to fight one another over stupid shit. But that's about all of the interesting things going on around here, except for you being here of course." Score one for Haiden's cheesy lines.

She gave a small little sad smile when he said that her mom was a smart woman. "Yeah. She was. Very smart." She paused a moment and then her smile became more genuine. "I think you probably would have liked her... peppermint hot chocolate and all." She winked at him, unable to help herself in the moment. She missed her mother a lot, but the pain of having lost her had eased up a little because she had learned to deal with it as it came to her.
She wrinkled her nose at his comment about the fights that had been breaking out. "Yeeaaah... I'm not going to lie... I'm a bit naive when it comes to Lacrosse but... The fighting thing seems a bit out of line." She admitted to him. It wasn't as if she'd ever actually had the chance to witness a lacrosse game in play. She lay her head on his shoulder a moment, watching the game ahead of them and trying to make heads or tails out of it. "Well, if nothing else, I'll be comic relief as I sit here with confused expressions, watching what's going on." She laughed a little bit. She turned her bright blue eyes on him and blinked. "Maybe you can teach me what's going on down there someday?" She asked him. She was genuinely curious. She didn't have any hate for sports at all. Quite contrary, actually. She liked watching football and soccer for the most part, but she'd never really been introduced to lacrosse.

Haiden felt like a jackass when he said that, especially since her mother was no longer here. Hey, at least he could relate to it in some way because he had lost his Dad. "I'm sure I would have liked her. Not many people in this world I don't like," he smiled with a wink. "I lost my Dad when I was 16, so I understand the pain of losing a parent. Sorry I brought that up." What a jackass he could be sometimes. Haiden hated his lack of filter and painfully dull tact that seemed to come out at the worst times.
"Lacrosse is a brutal sport, I'm not gonna lie. It involves a lot of pushing and colliding with one another, but flat out fights are not tolerated, at all," He shook his head, actually tilting his head to rest on hers out of habit. A smile lifted his lips when she asked him to teach her what was going on on the field someday, something that Haiden loved to hear from a girl he was interested in. "Of course I can teach you. It's kind of hard to teach you in the middle of a game since everyone's running in all different directions, but it's similar to soccer in a sense. Except everyone is kind of a forward," he shrugged as he thought about it, hoping it made some kind of sense that way.

She offered him a small smile when he apologized. "It's okay, Haiden." She murmured. She shrugged a shoulder innocently enough. "I'm okay with talking about her." She admitted to him. "Sometimes it hurts but... I just deal with it as it comes at me and take comfort in the fact that she spent the last bit of time she had with a smile on her face." She offered him. She really didn't mind all that much. It was a part of life that she just had to deal with and she was doing fairly well.
She looked at the field as he explained that it was kind of like soccer, though everyone was more or less a forward. She tilted her head to the side as she watched the lot of them running around on the field. She could see the similarities she supposed. "See now... soccer I understand. I used to play when I was younger." She admitted with a small smile. She paused a moment. "I think I should have brought more hot chocolate though if we're both gonna be out here for two more games." She grinned at him. Because Lily fully intended on staying for the full duration of the games with him. It was just the kind of person she was.

"It's good you can. It took me awhile to get used to talking about it but I'm glad I did at some point. Dad passed the same way, doing what he loved," he nodded slowly as his eyes concentrated on the game. Haiden's dad had been doing farm work, stacking hay with the boys when he passed away and might have lived if they had been closer to the house or the hospital. It was hard to talk about just what happened, but when it came to how his Dad was and how amazing he was, Haiden could talk all day about him.
"Oh man, we'll drink through some serious hot chocolate out here. But, we can always find somewhere to go to warm up afterwards," he offered gently. Haiden was in no way one to rush things, and just being around Lily was enough for him to want to slow everything down and genuinely get to know her. This was one girl he didn't want to fuck things up with, otherwise he'd hate himself for the rest of his life. "Well, I have my extra sticks in the shed there so we can start with your lessons on how to play?"

She offered him a smile and squeezed his hand gently as he spoke about his father and explained that he had been doing what he loved as well. Lily's mother had been in the one place that she had wanted to be in when she passed away. Her father had provided her with health care at home so that she could peacefully pass away in their home rather than in a hospital room locked away somewhere. It had been what she wanted and they'd done their best to hold up to her wishes, but it had been hard.
She smiled when he said that they could find somewhere to go warm up afterwards. "I think I'd like that a lot." She admitted to him. She liked Haiden. It was hard not to like Haiden. He was a sweetheart. A really good guy who had been through a hell of a lot by the looks of things. She looked at him when he said there were extra sticks in the shed. She bit her lower lip a moment and then nodded. "I'm not exactly dressed for sports at the moment, but I'd love to!" She grinned at him. "You're going to have to make double sure I get warmed up afterwards though." She commented, a light blush tinging her cheeks after she realized what she had said.

Lacrosse was a sport that kept you rather warm but when she mentioned her clothes, Haiden had to agree she would get cold. At her little mention of getting warmed up afterwards, Haiden couldn't help but laugh a little at her little slip up. Her blushing was absolutely adorable and he hoped he could make her blush a few times. "That was really cute, but I'll give you some extra warming up afterwards if I show you how," he smiled gently and winked at her again.
He hopped off the cart and helped her down, getting the sticks from the trailer and a ball. "So, have you ever thrown a baseball, softball or football?" he asked gently while walking to a spot where it was light enough to see the ball but they were out of range of the people playing. He handed her a stick after fixing the webbing and then leaned against his own, eyes admiring her briefly.

She had to give a small laugh when he said her blush had been cute. She genuinely hadn't meant it to come out the way that it had, but she couldn't help the way that her blush only deepened when he said that he'd give her some extra warming up after if he showed her how. "Stoooop!" She said, covering her face for a minute. Lord. It wasn't hard to get her to blush like that. Add to the fact that Haiden was adorable as hell and it was really doing one hell of a number on her at the moment. "Okay. I think I'm good now." She said, making an attempt at putting a serious face on for a moment.
Lily let him help her down off the card and nodded when he asked her if she'd ever thrown a baseball, softball or football. "Football, actually." She admitted to him. She'd never really gotten into the baseball thing overly much. She took the stuck from him a moment, looking at it, but she had no freaking idea how to hold or handle it. "Okay... Now I'm pretty clueless. Great." She said with a laugh, shaking her head.

Looking over at her as she told him to stop, he laughed some more but shook his head. "It's ok, relax," he cackled lightly, glad he helped her off the cart. Lily was adorable, and rather good looking, so he wasn't going to ruin this. Her talk about throwing a football made him raise his eyebrow and he looked at her, "Oh yeah? Well then, you'll get this rather easily."
He chuckled some before setting the ball in his net, looking at her softly. "So, when you throw a football you keep your wrist a little stiff, it's kind of the same way with lacrosse. When you throw-" he lifted his stick into his hands. "You don't follow through with your net. Like this." Haiden shifted and tossed the ball a bit away so she'd get the idea. "To catch, you just follow the ball and catch it in the net. It's rather simple, actually." Haiden looked at her, offering her a second ball to give it a try.

She smirked when he looked at her as she said she had thrown a football before. "Hey now... don't even start that business. I was actually quite the little tomboy growing up, thanks." She commented with that same smile on her lips. She couldn't seem to help it where he was concerned in the moment. And she really had been a tomboy growing up. She'd love generally being outdoors and having a good time whereas most of the teenage girls out there seemed to be hellbent on staying indoors or tanning on the beach. It just wasn't her though.
Lily was pretty sure she understood what he meant about keeping her wrist a little stiff and not following through with the net. That much was easy enough to pick up on just by watching him and the other players as they tossed the ball around. "I think I can probably get the swing of the whole tossing thing... Catching thing might take a little bit of practice." She admitted to him. It was entirely different when you were catching a ball that wasn't aimed at your hand but rather at a net attatched to a long stick. She paused a moment and awkwardly put the ball in the net before she more or less flung the ball off in the direction Haiden had sent his. Her aim was horribly off and she had to laugh at herself, but at least she'd given it a shot. "I think I need some practice." She admitted.

Haiden laughed as she quipped at him about the football thing since he knew he was guilty for being caught. "I'm sorry! You're just such a beautiful girl it's hard to imagine you being a tomboy I guess...which I mean in the sense that you rubbed dirt in your cuts and laughed about it," he chuckled before handing her the ball. Haiden didn't expect her to be able to throw it perfectly right off the bat since throwing a lacrosse ball was a little difficult. Accuracy wasn't something that was learned right away, it took practice and she did need it. "No worries. We've got plenty of time for you to practice."
Once the ball had settled and stopped rolling, Haiden jogged down to the balls and scooped them up without stopping. A fight caught his attention as he made it back to her and he softly handed her his stick, "Be right back." With that he jogged out onto the field and grabbed one of the guys by the pads behind the neck and pulled back hard so he went stumbling backwards. "Don't you come at me!" Haiden yelled and pointed at him when the rather large man took a step forward, seeming to rethink what he was doing since Haiden was rather big himself. There were some nasty words coming out of Haiden's mouth but his point was made so he went back to Lily, shaking his head with a sigh. "Sorry you had to hear that. I don't usually talk like that..." He blushed a little bit, looking down as he took his stick back.

She blushed again a bit when he mentioned the fact that he thought she was beautiful. She really needed to learn to stop doing that every time she was complimented in addition to everytime she said something embarassing. Lord help her. "I was a daddy's girl growing up. Still am really. I grew up on a ranch that breeded horses... Daddy still lives there now. Wasn't much room for a princess out on the ranch. I did a lot of manual labor out there, thank you." She smiled at him.
Lily smiled and nodded at him when he gave her the balls and his stick and said he'd be right back. She watched him as he headed for the field and yanked one of the boys off of another. It looked as if the other one was going to go after Haiden and she put a hand over her mouth, sincerely hoping that he didn't wind up hurt in the meanwhile. She shook her head though when he came back and started apologizing. "No. No. You're fine." She said. "And completely justified." And just to make him feel better, she stomped her foot. "He was a.... Buttface." Yep. Lily failed horribly at swearing.
