Clayton wasn’t the kind of guy who bragged about getting women or lived his life night to night looking for the next girl to join him between the sheets. He did flirt and did get offers plenty of the time but that didn’t mean it’s what he was looking for. Serious relationships were something most guys would rag on another guy for wanting or at least for saying he wanted but Clay didn’t care about that either and had no problem admitting it was something he did look for. It didn’t stop him from those fun nights with someone that wasn’t going to be sticking around which would be what put him up to the manslut level. His friends could teas him all they wanted about his search for the one because he still got the women and one day he’d find the right one who’d stick. Never knew what a new day would bring and that was a good philosophy to live by since a new day had once led to a woman writing her number on his arm in lipstick then challenging him to find her. Mikki was surely something else and he was pretty sure that something was a good kind of else from what he’d learned about her so far.
He chuckled as she talked about him not being sucky but there having to be someone who kept him on his toes out there. He couldn’t fault that logic in truth and just nodded to her instead of trying to find an argument out of that one. ”I’m becoming quite aware of your love of challenges, and you’re right. You never grow or learn more if someone doesn’t challenge you to improve yourself so it’s a good thing that someone’s able to keep me on my toes.” he said thoughtfully and hoped she’d at least stick around as a friend after their fun and do that “keeping him on his toes” thing she seemed really good at so far. He liked the challenge she presented both by leading him on a chase and by challenging him in the little mini-debate they’d had about his sexual prowess of all things.
Lifting an eyebrow as she asked if he was sticking around to find out what her Halloween costume would look like he nodded and then shrugged, ”Well this isn’t a hit and run so yeah? Less you want it to be a hit-and run then that’s a whole other thing entirely.” he said not about go stalking her or bugging her if she didn’t want this to carry on past their “fun time” together. He wouldn’t lie and say he wasn’t hoping she would consider it carrying on a bit but he wouldn’t push it either if she said no. He respected women’s choices when it came to who they did and didn’t want around and things. He was never the pushy sort who turned into a stalker or the kicked puppy in their lives that they just couldn’t shake. Considering the question she asked about his costume for the year and inviting him to e her party he gave a shrug and chuckled, ”Haven’t figured out what I’m going to be yet…but I’ll have it figured out so I don’t show up costumeless to your party.” he said as his way of accepting that invite and letting her know she’d won that round of telling him he was going.
Her suggestion of Prince Charming after hearing his reasons for becoming a lawyer had him lifting an eyebrow as he considered that option and nodded after a moment. She did make a good point and he chuckled at the part about the pumpkin, ”That keeps coming up as a theme here…But please don’t since the party’s normally just getting good at midnight.” he said with a grin that turned into a smile as she spoke about how it was nice he wasn’t just doing it for money. ”Money’s a bonus not a reason to me…Yeah you need it for everything but I don’t need a whole lot so I can be just as fine with a smaller paycheck as I’d be with the big one. Make it work either way. People who need a lawyer are going to you for help, sometimes it is to save their very lives and if that’s not your first concern then you shouldn’t be doing that job.” he said seriously and chuckled. ”I’ll take brownie points…not aiming for them but not about to turn them down.” he joked and smiled.
He grinned as she smiled and laughed, watching her cover her mouth and glad she was amused by it since that had been his intention. Listening to her suggestion about the alternative to wearing his underwear over tights he chuckled and nodded, ”Sold. I’ll take that option instead since tights…just not really my style so much.” he said and lifted an eyebrow at her obviously eyeing him up while saying his pants looked perfect on him. The blush was back and he could feel it though this time a bit more than before and he cleared his throat nodding and hoping it wasn’t totally obvious. ”Glad you think so.” he said knowing he was being stupid by blushing at that compliment yet somehow unable to help it.
Waiting for her to choose where they’d sit he followed her to the corner booth and found himself being pushed until he dropped into the booth with a chuckle as she sat herself on his lap. ”I did say that yes….but now you’re going to have to sit there the whole time. You’re not allowed to sit anywhere else for the rest of the time we’re here.” he said back playfully with a smirk. He didn’t care that a few people were now looking at them oddly for the seating choice she’d made. He was having a good time and had a beautiful woman on his lap, other people’s opinions just didn’t matter to him right now. ”I’ll manage…or maybe I won’t and I’ll just let you feed me…we’ll see.”

Mikki was willing to bet that there weren't a whole lot of guys floating around on campus who were actually looking for any kind of a committed relationship. They were few and far between, that was for damned sure. Most of them were too eager to explore all that college had to offer, and that extended far beyond just coursework and sports. Most of the men, and women, on campus were interested in enjoying themselves and having a good time. Some of them even made a game of seeing just how many men or women they could sleep with in an allotted time. While all of that appealed to Mikki on a more intellectual, "I'm going to study your habits" level, it didn't appeal to her so much on a more fundamental level. She'd been the girl in High School who had had her share of fun. But now that she had a good, solid job and a name for herself in the publishing industry (even if it was an alias) she knew that she was looking towards other things in her life. Other commitments.
She smiled at him and nodded at his talk about challenges. "See? I'm going to be a good thing for you to have around." She commented with a smirk, unable to help herself in the moment. She had a feeling, however, that the man in front of her would wind up challenging her just as much. Even though she had issued the challenge for him to find her, he'd kind of issued his own counter challenge right back at her in claiming that she couldn't stay hidden away from him forever if he was determined enough. Which, apparently, he had been fairly determined, otherwise he would have forgotten the challenge altogether. Mikki had lost this challenge, but she told herself that she'd be on her toes a little more where he was concerned in the future... If there was a future...
She smiled as he said that this wasn't a hit and run unless she wanted it to be. She tapped a finger to her chin a moment, looking speculative. "Let's see... attractive, determined man with an exceptional sense of humor who is absolutely adorable when he starts blushing? I think I'll cut my losses and stick this one out for as long as possible." She teased him, clearly joking with him in the moment. Though he was utterly adorable when she managed to make him blush. She smiled when he more or less told her that he was going to show up to her party right then and there. "Naked is a costume. Just saying." She said with a dutiful nod before she broke out into another one of her little grins.
"Don't you think it'd be a little bit odd if I disappeared from my own party?" She asked, giving him a speculative look for a moment with that teasing light still in her eyes. She wouldn't be disappearing from her own party unless it was to... She paused a moment and looked the man in front of her over from head to toe for a moment. Yeah. She'd retire early from her own party for that. She had to be honest with herself right then and there on that front. Any woman would be insane to pass that up though, she was fairly certain. She had to pat his chest, however, when he said that he wasn't looking for brownie points, but that he'd take them anyways. "Good, because you're racking them up fast." She admitted to him.
And there was that blush again. Christ. He was adorable when he did that. She honestly couldn't recall the last time she'd actually made a grown man blush quite like that, but she wasn't going to complain in the moment. She'd just work on devising more ways to make him blush in the end.
She grinned at him when he said that she was going to have to stay where she was for the rest of the time that they were in the restaurant. "You make that sound like it's going to be such a hardship for me." She commented with a laugh. She didn't think she'd have a hard time sitting there on an attractive man's lap for the duration of their meal, but she could just imagine what the pair of them looked like in the moment to the rest of the patrons and the wait staff on duty. "Ohhh if you're going to let me feed you, it'd better be something messy just for the comedic value of it all." She commented. She blinked up as a waitress appeared beside her and asked them for their drink orders. "Strawberry milkshake for me, please." She said, glancing over her shoulder at Clay with a small smile.
