Those two words. The two most important words two people could ever say to each other. Those two words stood for more than just the noise coming from the vocal chords. It stood for the love of two people, and the binding of them, legally and emotionally that would keep them there forever. And not one day went by when Ganette was not thinking about going through the same experience with Dallas. It had seemed like so long ago when they first started out, but in reality it hadn't been long enough for people really to think that love was even capable of forming. But it was there. And it was stronger than ever. It didn't take long for the both of them to realize how much of an impact they made on each other's lives, and how much they needed each other through the thick and thin. Today wasn't any different than any other day. The only difference was that there would be a legal binding of the love that had already been there from the beginning. And Ganette just couldn't wait until it happened.
Light shone in through the windows in Summer's bedroom. Ganette had stayed there the night before, in order to stay out of the sight of her soon-to-be husband. She believed in all of that unlucky wedding mumbo jumbo, but way back in her mind, she knew it wouldn't matter in the end. Not in the least. The night before had been one great time. Summer, Cai, and herself were having such a fun time exchanging stories, talking about the wedding, and the baby to come sooner than later. That was another thing that just put a smile on Ganette's face the size of Texas. Knowing that their family was beginning was only the chip of the ice burg in the rest of her life. Soon there would be school and watching her son, or daughter, grow up little by little. And, Ganette hoped, still keeping the love and support of Dallas through it.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Ganette smiled. Her hair appointment was not until eight o'clock, but she sure didn't want to be late. The wedding was to start at 11. Reception going from around 12 to how ever long it took for people to begin to leave. The reception hall she had rented out was completely free of any other parties for the whole day, which was a big relief on her shoulders. They wouldn't need to be rushed. And they wouldn't need to be rushed during the ceremony either. Ganette had chosen a great spot on Myrtle Beach. Dallas and a couple other of his good Navy buddies helped him build an alter. There wasn't a large guest list, but it didn't really matter to Genny. Neither her or Dallas had any large extended family, so most of the guests were friends and close friends. And Jinx of course.
Still smiling at herself in the bathroom mirror, hair soaking wet, and no makeup on she still had on the biggest grin "Today's the day Genny. Today is the day you marry the man of your dreams." Laughing to herself, she pulled on her clothes quickly and walked out into the bedroom. There she had a bag packed full of the stuff that she needed. Everything but the dress was in there. Her shoes, jewelry, makeup, everything was in that bag. Ganette was fortunate enough to hire a woman to do her hair at Summer's house. She would arrive at eight, do her hair and makeup, and then leave. It was nice that Ganette didn't have to bother with going into a salon and worrying about all of it. She had done previous hair trials before, and this woman came highly recommended. The only thing she was worried about was the way Summer would end up squealing so loud she would lose her hearing.
Pulling one a pair of jean shorts and a t-shirt, Ganette brushed her teeth thoroughly, spit everything out, and brushed again. With two cups of mouthwash, she knew she was ready. She had already eaten breakfast that Summer and Cai were nice enough to make at seven. The doorbell rang, and Ganette had a bright smile on her face. It was eight o'clock exactly. The woman behind the door smiled when Ganette appeared "Ready to get started?" She said. Nodding with excitement, Ganette was pushed into Summer's living room. Everything was soon set up, and by 9:30 her hair and makeup were completely done. "Now, let's get you to your wedding!!!" She heard Summer say. "Okay okay, let me grab everything." Ganette wouldn't put on her dress and all of her wear until she was at the venue in a room heavily guarded from all men trying to get in. Grabbing her bad from off Summer's bed, she walked over to the closet and grabbed her dress carefully. And they were off.
In ten minutes they were at the water front. There was a gazeebo near by that was closed off by curtains and Ganette knew that that was where she would be for the next hour and a half. Unfortunately, she knew it would take just about that much time to get completely ready. Walking into the large gazeebo with all the other women in her bridal party, Ganette smiled as she pulled on the perfect wedding dress. Just months before the wedding, she remembered the first time she tried it on. It had fit almost so perfectly, that she didn't even need to get it altered. It was definitely meant to be. After the dress was on, Ganette smiled at herself in the mirror, and an hour and a half later, she heard the music.
It was time for the wedding to start and she didn't know how she really needed to react. Most of it was her trying to hold back that tears that were threatening to ruin her makeup. The thought of her father not being here to see her walk down the isle made it almost impossible to keep the waterworks from flowing. "No Genny, cry later, not now. Later." Laughing to herself, she looked down at her bouquet and back up. It saddened her to know that her father wasn't there to walk with her. Well, no one was there to walk with her. She would have to face the isle alone as she walked toward the man she was going to marry. As she approached the isle, Ganette couldn't stop smiling. And why shouldn't she? She was about to get married for christ's sake. Finally, she reached the isle. And there he was. The most amazing, charming, handsome man on the planet. He stood there, in his dark blue dress uniform, looking almost as stunning as she was. Her smile widened as she approached. And when she got to the front, she stood there next to him. Looking him in the eye, all she could mutter out of shock was the word..."Hi..." She laughed nervously, and she could tell that was feeling the same thing. But there wasn't any turning back now, and Ganette didn't really know it, but it was the happiest feeling she had felt in her whole life, well, at least until the little bundle of joy would arrive. dying of cuteness!! |

Wearing that... only he looks hotter.I do. I do. Dallas could hardly believe that, in a few short hours, he'd be saying those very words to his stunningly beautiful wife to be. He'd been picturing the day playing over in his head a thousand times over. He'd told himself that this was no different than any other operation that he'd been a part of. He had a plan. He'd execute the plan and everything would be smooth sailing. But now that the day was there, words couldn't even begin to describe how he felt and all of the consolation he'd been giving himself in the past few days had pretty well gone down the tube. This was it. In a few short hours... he was going to be a husband.
And he'd always prided himself in thinking that getting married was just the next step. That he'd be getting married to a woman that he knew inside and out. He'd be getting married to a woman that he'd lived with, laughed with and loved with. That marriage was just something that the rest of the world recognized while, in Dallas' heart, he already knew that his soul was already twined in matrimony with the one person in the world who made him feel complete. Genny was everything to him and this act... putting it on display for the rest of the world... it was commitment. It was about showing the world what they had with one another and embracing it.
"You okay, man?" Dallas blinked at his twin brother, realizing that he had completely spaced out. "Yeah... Yeah. I'm good." He offered Nate a smile. Nate clapped him on the shoulder and grinned. "You're gonna bawl like a baby." Dallas rolled his eyes at him, but he didn't bother denying it. Chances were, he would end up crying. For a guy who had never really showed a whole hell of a lot of emotion prior to having met Ganette McMullan, he was sure doing his fair share of it these days. "Shuddup and get yer ass out there to grab Mama. She said she wanted to see me before we headed for the altar." He swallowed past the last word. The Altar. As in... his wedding altar. "You'll be fine and Genny'll make a man outta you yet." He smirked before jetting out the door.
Dallas paused to look in the mirror one last time and a moment later, his mother stepped in through the door. He met her gaze in the mirror for a moment and smiled at her. Her eyes instantly filled up with tears. "I can't believe the both of you are gonna be married now... Even if I wanna tan your fool of a brother's hide for not givin' that pretty girl of his a good weddin'." Dallas smiled at his mother. "You know the story behind that, Mama." She sighed. "Yeah, I do. And he's lucky I love that little girl of his as much as I do." She grabbed hold of his shoulder and gently spun him around, straightening out the already straight lapels of his jacket and generally fussing over him. "Your future wife is gonna take your breath away, boy." He smiled. "Already knew she would, Mama." She gave his cheek a pat and smiled at him. "Now get your behind in gear and get out there on that beach." She winked at him before spinning around and heading for the door to his waiting brother.
The boys had all stayed at Dallas and Genny's house the night before while Genny had been over at Summer's place. Genny had held true to wedding tradition and had been damned sure that he wasn't going to see her before the wedding. He no longer believed that that tradition was about superstition, but rather about keeping the groom walking on egg shells.
It was a short drive from their place to the beach and the spot they'd picked out for the wedding. Already the aisle was littered with pink and red rose pedals leading right up to the archway that comprised the altar. With a deep breath, Dallas made his way out there and up front. It wasn't long before the music started up and the wedding party started their march down the aisle. And then, the entire audience gathered rose to their feet. Nate gave Dallas a playful nudge just before Genny stepped out onto that aisle.
And nothing had prepared him for how stunning she looked. Nothing. He felt like all the air had been sucked straight out of his lungs and he almost instantly felt his mouth go dry and tears sting his eyes. He was pretty sure there'd never been a more beautiful woman made in the entire world and across the ages. He swallowed and, for a moment, he was pretty sure the likelihood of his brother's relentless teasing was the only thing that kept him remembering to breath and keep from passing out.
It seemed like forever until she made it up in front of him and gave him that nervous little laugh after greeting him. All he could do for a moment was grin at her. For a second, he couldn't talk. He couldn't respond. But finally, he managed to get his vocal chords working. "You look amazing." He said to her quite honestly. And there was a hell of a lot of emotion loaded in that simple statement. She looked beyond amazing. He was pretty sure that no amount of words could begin to demonstrate exactly what he was feeling at the moment. Dallas was shocked out of his stupor a moment later, however, when the man behind them spoke up. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today..." Dallas just grinned at Genny... This was it. This was the next chapter in their happily ever after.

The location, the guests, the altar, everything was just the way Ganette had pictured it. And she was glad that Dallas was fine with all of it. He left the wedding up to her and she was damn sure that he would get a one of a kind wedding day. With the help of Summer and Cai, she accomplished things faster than she ever imagined, and with the large budget provided by Dallas's salary, the lists were endless of things they could do. But when it came down to the center of it, it wasn't about the material things, it was about the love Ganette and Dallas shared for each other. The love that they kept so strong between one another and that was what people really wanted to see. Or at least she knew Summer and Cai did.
Ganette was set for this moment, and she made sure of that. And the blue pin in her hair assured her luck throughout the wedding. Her mother had given it to her just mere moments before she walked onto the isle. It was her great grandmothers and Ganette found it even harder to keep tears from streaming down her face. For years, she would watch shows like "Say Yes to the Dress" or David Tuterra putting on perfect weddings for women, and she always told herself that she wouldn't cry on her wedding day. That it was just a wedding, it wouldn't make her cry. But standing at the front of the altar there with Dallas helped her realize something. It isn't the wedding location or all the beautiful gifts and tables, but it was the people. The people there showing the support of the bride and groom, and Ganette knew that most of her tears really came from the love she shared with Dallas.
The Bridal party stood behind her, and Ganette could have swore she heard Summer squealing under her breath when the minister began the ceremony. Just like that, everything dissapeared. Even though Ganette wasn't listening to half the things the man said in front of them, she stood there next to Dallas, blushing like a tomato "You too." It took every fiber of her being not to kiss him right then and there. Now wasn't the time...at all. While the man in front of them continued to speak, she realized how close they were to the vow portion of the wedding. Ganette wasn't going to be one of those women who read something off a piece of paper. She did write a vow, but she memorized it. She spent hours in front of the mirror practicing it while Dallas was gone. She knew that she would need the extra practice in case of the event that she would get so nervous she would forget what she wrote entirely. Of course, the only thing she was worried about was if she would end up losing the ability to talk.
As soon as she heard the minister say "The couple have written their own vows which they will now recite to each other" Ganette smiled and took in a deep breath. The bride was always first in with vows. Deep in her mind, Ganette knew that whatever she said to Dallas he would accept it, and come back with vows just a million times better. He was always a smooth talker, and she loved him for it. Ganette turned towards Dallas, and stood profile to him, "Dallas. The time we have spent together has been the greatest time of my life. From the beginning, you were there for me, keeping me going when I felt like I couldn't go on anymore. When we first met, you did not hesitate to help me through the difficult stages. Some people may not understand the love I have for you, but I know that doesn't matter. Because all my life, all i've ever wanted to do was find the perfect man..." A small single tear trickled down Ganette's left cheek as she finished her vows, ...and I found him. And now, i'm sharing an altar with him. I love you Dallas, and don't you ever forget that."
It was short and sweet. Ganette didn't want to overload him right now. He looked like he was going to pass out. She only knew that from the way he looked right before he passed out when she told him that she was pregnant. Which reminded her that this dress was a bit tighter on her than it was when she first tried it on. To Ganette, it was just a reminder that her life was beginning to set sail. In all of her wildest dreams, she would have never imagined of coming in contact with a man like Dallas. He was a man. A real man. She knew that from the first time they met. She had to admit, things did move awfully fast between the two of them. But within the first few weeks of them being together, Ganette knew there was something in Dallas that wasn't in other men. And through all the pain she herself had endured, Dallas was there for her. And that was the gospel truth. dying of cuteness!! |

Dallas had to duck his head and hide a bit of a laugh when he heard Summer's tell tale squeal from where she was standing. The woman had been gunning for the pair of them from the very beginning, and as much as he groused about her interfering and rambling on about their babies in the beginning, he appreciated Summer's support and he knew damned well that Genny appreciated it just as much. He also knew that he owed both the women standing there for Genny a major thank you for everything they'd done to make sure that this day happened. Genny looked incredibly beautiful, but above all else, she looked incredibly happy. And that was what mattered to him most of all.
And then they were at the point that really counted, as far as Dallas was concerned. Their vows. The words that they'd prepared for one another. His brother had told him that he was nuts for not having written the words down or really having given much thought to them for that matter... But strangely... where this was concerned, he wasn't worried in the least. Because he knew exactly how he felt about the woman in front of him and he knew exactly what he wanted to say to her. He didn't know exactly how it would come out, but he knew damned well that if he would have wrote everything down, he would have been kicking himself later when he realized that, in the moment, there was so much more he wanted to say.
It was Genny's turn first and the words she spoke... the way she looked up at him... everything about her was just so breathtakingly beautiful. She was the single most amazing woman in the world as far as he was concerned. She was his best friend. She was everything to him and he planned on letting her know that. And then she drew to the last part of her statement and despite the tears clearly evident in his eyes, he grinned at her and shook his head. "Not a chance I'd forget, Darlin'." He murmured, reassuring her even in that moment.
And then the man beside them turned to him and asked him to give his vows in turn and he had to smile at Genny. "At first when we decided to go with our own vows... I panicked... Freaked out a little bit because I knew that no amount of premeditated speech giving was going to cover everything I wanted to say to you. I knew I'd over think it... So... I forced myself not to think about it because I knew... I knew the moment that I got here, you'd still be the most beautiful, sweet, incredible woman in the world to me." He paused a moment and just looked at her before he continued. "You helped me through one of the darkest times in my life. You were there to laugh with my and cry with me and I know you'll be there for me for many years to come. You've been my guiding light while I walked through nothing but shadow... and now I feel like I'm finally comin' home. To you. To us." He paused again and splayed a hand over her stomach. "And I love you so much. Both of you."
That pretty well summed it up, didn't it? And he sure as hell couldn't help the way his voice cracked at the end there, a single tear tracking down his cheek. What the hell was it about this woman that managed to get him all choked up like this? He was pretty sure he'd seen it all now. A woman who finally managed to catch his brother's eye and a woman who finally had the ability to choke him up with a whole wealth of emotion that he was sure he'd never wind up feeling. And - Shit... was that his brother sniffing beside him? Nope. Nate would never hear the end of this one.

Just a few years before this, she was crying herself to sleep at night over the douchebaggery of Hunter. Well, it was nice to see that he was finally getting his shit together, although it did anger Ganette to know that he didn't stop being a jerk until after they broke up, but she knew that without the pain from Hunter, she would have never been able to be with Dallas. And another person she actually needed to thank was, dare she say it, Ali. Ali had taken her as like a personal slave, making her do everything she wanted her to or threatening to hurt her. And all that emotional pain caused by that sent Dallas to Ganette's apartment that night. The night where Ganette found someone whom she had a real connection to. That was why Hunter, and Ali, both in some strange way, needed to be thanked.
Standing there with Dallas, dried tears now on her face. She couldn't help but just fall even more in love with him as the seconds passed. After she finished her vows, she saw the tear go down his face, which, in return made a tear go down hers. Of course, she was the woman. There was some excuse for her to cry, but the fact that Dallas, big and tough Navy SEAL was crying right in front of her really said something.
But now it was time for his vows. And something told Ganette that they were going to be the most perfect words he could say at a time like this. Dallas always seemed to be good with words, better than she was by a landslide, and it was calming to know that it didn't matter to her. He was a smooth talker yes, but that wasn't the only reason why she loved him. As he spoke, it didn't surprise her that he didn't need to read off a piece of paper either. And honestly she was impressed. And even though he said that no amount of speech could sum everything up, she knew that he didn't need to, because by the time he was finished she was in tears. He mentioned the baby, his child, their child. Ganette could hear the bridal party crying behind her and she joined them, and placed her hands over his on her stomach.
Flashing a smile up at him, the rings were brought out and put on. Now came a vital part of the wedding ceremony. The I do's. The I do's to Ganette meant that with two easy words from the both of them, the minister would gladly announce it and they would have their first kiss as a couple. The ceremony had already gone by so fast already, and most of it was taken up by the way she looked into Dallas's eyes. A smile perminantely glued to her face she listened as she minister quoted, "Ganette -, will you have - Dallas - to be your wedded husband, to live together in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor him and keep him, in sickness and in health; and forsaking all others remain loyal to him as long as you both shall live?" Without hesitation, Ganette gave Dallas the cutest smile she had probably been ever able to do and said "I do."
the two words flowed so smoothly off her lips that it seemed like they should have been said a long time ago. Ganette was 25 years old, it was time for her to begin the next chapter in her life. And that next chapter just happened to be shared with Dallas. And it was only a matter of time before their child popped out. Ganette was still about three months away from knowing the sex of the baby, and she was still considering not knowing the sex until the day it was born.
They had both been waiting way too long for this wedding to happen. Ganette had originally planned it to be in the spring, but with uncertain weather, and a baby on the way, there wasn't much hope. They could have still had it sometime in may after the baby was born but, Ganette felt it to feel more natural if they were to get married first. But Ganette didn't mind being pregnant during the wedding, in fact, she was happy that she was. Only three months along but still, the bump was already starting to form. And Dallas, she knew, would be an amazing father. He deserved to be the father that he never had. And it would give her the chance to be the mother that is always there, no matter what. Their life seemed perfect, and it was only getting better by the second. dying of cuteness!! |

Honestly, Dallas was so beyond caring who saw him cry this day. He had so much to be thankful and happy for. So much to be happy to be alive for. And for a man who faced the very real possibility of dying about a year ago, that was saying a hell of a lot. There were a lot of times when Dallas would wake up from one of his nightmares and wish beyond Heaven and Hell that he'd died with the rest of his team out there in those damned mountains. And now... he woke up every morning thanking God and any other powers that be for the fact that he had this woman in his life. He was thankful for every moment that he was able to spend with her and didn't want to let anything get him down.
Dallas knew he'd said the right words just by the expression on her face. He could tell that he'd taken her breath away. And not a single damned one of those words had been false. Everything that he'd ever felt and wanted with this woman was coming to one huge communion right here. They'd have everything so long as they had one another. He had to smile when everything was said and done with the vows. And he just had to interject a moment. "Hey, keep it down over there, Ladies. We're trying to get married here." He glanced over his shoulder at his brother who very definitely did have tears in his eyes. "You too, Nate." He grinned at his brother. No doubt he was gonna get slugged for that one later.
And then it was time for the rings. The rings that were symbology for everything that marriage was about. He smiled at her as she slipped the ring on his finger and grinned as he slipped her finger on hers. And then she said the two words that meant the most to him, besides her vows, in this entire ceremony. "I do. With those two words, she agreed to a lifetime of love and happiness with him there to share it all with her every step of the way. She agreed to keeping him in her heart and soul until death do they part. She agreed to loving him and being with him, even though he was just as flawed as any other man in the world... maybe even moreso in some respects.
And then it was his turn. He waited for the man beside them to finish up with his giant question and then he grinned at her. "I most certainly do." There was a pause, long enough for Dallas to look over at the man beside him, but then he smiled. "Then, by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you, Husband and Wife. You may kiss your bride, Lieutenant." Dallas could only grin then as he wrapped both arms around Genny and pressed his lips to hers. After a moment, his hands tightened around her and he swung her over in his arms, dipping her down and deepening the kiss. And even as he was bringing her back up to her feet and back up for air, he heard his boys from a combination of the seating for the guests and his brother right at his side as they spoke up. "HOOYAH LIEUTENANT XAVIER!" Dallas could only laugh and shake his head, giving Genny an apologetic look.
And it was done. That was it. They were now, officially, husband and wife. He linked his fingers with hers and kissed the top of her hand before taking a step back down the aisle. The ceremony was done... but the rest of the party was just about to begin.
