Kira had never experienced anything like this before. She was Russian, for crying out loud. Sure, they dealt with horrible snow storms, but to be honest, Kira didn't know what to make of this heavy amount of rain water rather than just the snow. Snow she could deal with. Snow would stick and, while it would elevate the ground and make it extremely difficult to walk in some places, at the very least, it wouldn't drown you. Sure, it could suffocate you... if you were stupid. Kira was anything but stupid.
But she had no idea what to do in this situation. The winds and the rains were horrible. So much so that, on her way back into the compound, she parked her car just inside the gate, said to hell with struggling to keep the damned thing under control through the potholes and wind and made a run for it. Literally. By the time she made it to Kier's door, she was sopping wet and pissed off. She pushed in through the door, practically vibrating from the cold and immediately started shucking her clothing. This was hell. Why would anyone willingly choose to live through this shit?
She just tugged her shirt up over her head when Kier made his presence known. "What the hell is this crap? I wasn't aware that I've moved into Kansas and was going to be caught up in a twister that landed me in fucking Oz." She said. "This is a hurricane? Fuck this shit."

If rain bothered him he’d have been a wreck his how life and wind sometimes got pretty strong ireland though not quite this strong. He’d spent the morning and afternoon boarding up windows and checking that things were secure. The camp was closed down for the day and a few after it because of the storm since only some sort of crazy-ass idiot would try coming up there right now and he didn’t need lunatics on the grounds. It was a survival camp yes and this is something people should be able to survive but he was not fucking around with legal issues and requirements of keeping people safe while on his property during this. If they wanted to be crazy they could do it on their own property and pay their own insurance for the injuries they got.
Inside his own place he glanced at the clock as he stuffed a few things in a duffle bag planning to head for the fallout shelter he’d had built when he set the place up figuring since it was water-tight and below ground it was the best place to be. He’d sent his staff off to their homes if they weren’t living on site and the ones who did live on site were sent to the convention center down in town since he wasn’t locking himself in with those idiots around. Finding himself wondering where Kira was he figured either Nick had called his staff all into one location for their safety or she was out there in this shit and regretting it probably. Hearing the door downstairs open and close and knowing only one person would be coming in he headed that way lifting an eyebrow as he walked in on her pulling her shirt off. ”It’s just a little water and wind. Might do some damage but is hardly the end of the world no matter what the local idiots seem to think.” he said with a shrug and sighed. ”Might as well put that back on for now and go grab a small bag with clothes and anything you absolutely need. We’re going to the fallout shelter for the night just in case it gets worse.” he said not minding the thought of closing himself in with her.

She gave him a droll look when he said that it was just a little water and wind. 'I've never seen so much water fall from the sky as water in my entire life." She pointed out. "Snow is a pain in the ass, but I know how to deal with it. Water... Not so much." She mumbled as she made an attempt at drying her hair out for the moment. She didn't think it was the end of the world though. Not by a long shot. It was just something that she had never actually dealt with before, but she had a damned good feeling that she was about to learn how to.
"I think this is the first time I've ever heard you tell me to put my clothes back on." She said, arching a brow with him and giving him a slight smirk. She couldn't help herself in the moment. She headed to the bathroom real quick and rung the shirt out before she pulled it back on though. She was freezing and wherever the hell they were going, they damned well needed to get there fast. She headed for the room she was staying in... though admittedly, more often than not, she slept in Kiernan's bed anyhow. She grabbed some of the warmer clothes that she had bought only a few days ago and tucked them into a bag before grabbing a few knives that she tended to keep on hand and a gun. She was pretty sure that she wouldn't need a gun, but it was always nice to have the additional illusion of safety.
A few moments later and after stuffing two towels into the bag as well, she was back down stairs again. "Locking two loose canons in a fallout shelter for a night. Oh this should be fun." She said with that same sassy smirk on her face.

Spending your life somewhere that rain was just part of the every-day routine meant he was immune to it while other’s hated it or loved it. He barely noticed a difference when it rained or didn’t. ”Well then don’t ever go to Ireland…you’d feel like you were drowning after two days of being there.” he said with a shrug as he moved to get the flashlight and a few of the things he had around the house and might need. He knew the shelter was stocked but if anything happened in town that someone called him to help with it never hurt to have extra’s on hand instead of having to go find them. He didn’t expect to be needed but he’d called down and offered his help should they need someone since while he was the guy who avoid town regularly he was still willing to help out if the needed it. Survival and everything.
Looking over at her and chuckling at her words about putting clothes back on he shook his head, ”It won’t ever happen again. Just don’t want you getting sick or something from here to the shelter.” he said grabbing one of his warmer jackets and setting it with his bag as she moved off to get her stuff and deal with her shirt issue and things. They could put on dry clothes in the shelter since they’d be getting wet along the way with the rain falling by the bucket over there. Looking over as she came back he picked up the jacket holding it out to her and chuckled shrugging to her words about loose canons and things. ”Sounds fun to me. There are worse ways to spend this storm than in the fallout shelter with you in my opinion.” he said and picked up his bag. ”Ready?” he asked knowing there was already food in the shelter since he’d taken care of that earlier in the day.

"It's not the rain that bothers me... it's the flooding that bothers me." She commented. But it wasn't as if she was whining about it. It was simply something that was new for her and after everything in her life that she had survived, this was just a little bump in the road that she would have to learn to overcome. It really was as simple as that. Kira would do whatever was needed to get through this. But where her and Kiernan differed was in the matter of whether or not she would risk her own life out there helping someone out who was too stupid to find shelter when they should have. She'd been screwed over enough times in life to know that life wasn't about handouts. It was about making it on your own when you needed to and not relying on others to help you along the way.
She smirked when he said that he didn't want her getting sick. "Well I'll keep that in mind. But I would have thought you'd just offer to warm me up once everything was said and done." She shrugged. Maybe it was her way of dealing with the unknown at the moment. Who the hell knew? Either way, she couldn't help the way she reacted and responded to the man. He was attractive physically, yes... But there was also an edge to him... the danger that she craved in her job and in just about every other aspect of her life. It was the adrenaline rush and she could honestly say that she'd never had one through just spending time with a man.
"Good answer. I might actually let you stare at my ass in the future without kicking yours." She commented, giving him the same smirk. She shrugged the coat on, feeling like she was being swallowed up whole in the damned thing, and then nodded at him. "All set. Don't worry. If the wind picks you up and blows you away, you're one of the few people I might actually risk my neck going out to find." She commented as she headed towards the door. How reassuring of her.

He had a feeling that she wasn’t a woman to scare easily if at all really and a little rain wouldn’t be what did it. He could be wrong but on this matter he just didn’t think he was. Knowing that the flooding wouldn’t stop them from anything like getting into town if need be he figured would help her relax about the whole thing.
Her smirk had him lifting his eyebrow before chuckling at her words and nodding in agreement to what she’d said. ”Oh I would yes but that wouldn’t stop you from getting sick no matter how warm you were. Once it’s done it’s done so best to avoid it all together.” he said shrugging and checked over what he’d shoved into the bag making sure he hadn’t forgotten anything. She wasn’t the only one taking a weapon into the shelter though he didn’t think he’d need it either. He was just never unarmed and even some storm wouldn’t make him give up that aspect of himself though he knew that no one but the two of them were on the property right now. If the power went out the back up’s would kick in and keep security going but better safe than sorry.
”Nah go ahead and kick my ass…keeps things interesting.” he said with a smirk and zipped the duffle picking it up and throwing it over his shoulder. Seeing her in the coat did strange things to him that he wouldn’t be letting himself think about until they were inside the shelter and he laughed at what she had to say. ”Of the two of us I think you’re the one at risk from the wind, but that’s okay cause I’d find you as well.” he said hitting the button to unlock his truck and open the trunk for their stuff before turning to lock the house up. ”Shelters up closer to the gate.” he explained raising his voice up over the sound of the wind before dropping his bag in the trunk and climbing in the drivers side waiting for her before starting the engine and heading toward the shelter.

"You plan on going joy riding in this weather?" She asked him with an arched brow, unable to help herself. Because if he was, he was even more insane than she had given him credit for initially. Kira wasn't the type of woman to easily scare. Not at all. But as it stood, she had to admit that massive amounts of rain water flooding the general area was one of the things she likely least wanted to experience in her lifetime. But such was life, she supposed. "I'll deal. I'm a big girl." She murmured.
She had to give him a brief sort of smile at what he said about keeping her warm. "Whatever you say, Doctor Kiernan." She said, giving him a serious pout. She wasn't sure what it was about the man, but she felt a lot more comfortable with him than she felt with a lot of people. Perhaps it was the fact that she sensed a sort of bond between the pair of them without ever really having asked his story in depth.
"Personally, I just think you like the prospect of me kicking your ass." She smirked at him. "Either that or you underestimate my ability." She pointed out with a cheeky smile. She couldn't help herself. "Nah. I'll just hold on to you for anchor." She poked his stomach. "You look thin enough but lord knows your..." She eyed him up and down, that teasing light in her eyes. "Sturdy..." She'd leave it at that. She was pretty damned sure that he knew just how attracted to his physique that she was. He was a fighter, through and through and that definitely appealed to her. Kira stuffed her back in the back of the truck and then climbed into the passenger's side. It was a damned good thing she was a taller woman or she would have been screwed getting in to the thing. "Have I informed you how thankful I am to have met you at this point? No way in hell would I have made it camping out at the convention center without kicking someone's ass."

They know they can call me if they absolutely need someone to come down and help out though they think I’m kinda some sort of creepy wilderness man so they’ll probably not call me.” he said shaking his head a little at that thought. Survival and wilderness weren’t the same thing but explaining that to people who just didn’t get it and only looked at the big picture without the details was pointless. He didn’t ever bother with it really because he didn’t need the headache from that discussion. Hearing her muttered words he chuckled and shook his head at her. ”I’m not stupid enough to imply otherwise.” he said seriously but with humor in his tone.
The brief smile earned a quick twist of his own lips that would count as a smile before he shook his head with a frown, ”Unless it’s a doctor of death or something not so much a doctor. Just learned a thing or two about getting sick running around in the rain back home and seeing others do it.” he said with a shrug knowing people got sick and that was just a part of life you faced the facts on and moved past. He didn’t get sick very often himself but when he did he was miserable and felt like drinking whiskey to forget he was sick. Only if it was really bad would he take time off for it.
He smirked at her next words and nodded a little before shrugging, ”It’s a fun sort of challenge to get your blood pumping before you pump other things.” he said bluntly not caring that it was a bit crude to say. He wouldn’t say it out loud but that cheeky smile of hers was as deadly a weapon as any gun and he needed to remember that in the future should she ever realize and turn it against him. Grabbing her wrist as she poked him he lifted an eyebrow at her his smirk still in place. ”Looks are deceiving every time. The wind won’t be blowing me anywhere.” he said letting go of her wrist as they moved outside to his truck. The drive didn’t take long though he had to navigate to avoid the wheels slipping in the mud and he pulled to a stop next to a building that looked about the size of an outhouse that was always kept locked so no one but him had access. No one even knew it led to the stairs down to the shelter except him. Turning off the truck he chuckled shaking his head, ”Those people wouldn’t survive it…I’m doing a public service now by keeping you up here with me.” he teased as he climbed out and moved to grab their bags before leading over to the door unlocking it and holding it open for her to go in first. ”Lights are motion sensor once you start walking they’ll turn on.”

Kira had to laugh a little. "If you're what passes for a creepy wilderness man... Well... there must be something really wrong with me." She commented with a roll of her eyes. She looked at him and his comment about not being stupid enough to imply that she wasn't a big girl. "Good boy." She said, giving his cheek a little patronizing pat. She just couldn't seem to help herself or resist sometimes. Her smartass nature was likely going to lead her into a lot of trouble in her life.
She looked at him and what he said about him being a doctor of death. It was a curious comment to make and Kira had to admit that she was curious as to exactly what he meant by it, but she didn't wind up commenting on it for the time being. Lord knew that she had more than her share of secrets to keep and things that she wanted under wraps. But she had to admit... Besides Nick Black, Kira felt that Kiernan was probably the only other person on the planet that she might have been able to trust with the concept that had become her life.
She had to give a brief laugh at what he said about it being a fun challenge to get one's blood pumping before pumping other things. 'You're dirty. You know that, right?" She asked. But she knew that she was no better than he was. One might have argued that she was a far cry worse. "I know the wind won't blow you away." She commented. "And I know looks can be deceiving." She winked at him. Lord knew that she was case in point for that statement. She looked like she should have belonged in a beauty pageant, and yet there were few people in the world, male or female, who could be as deadly as she was.
"Honestly, you are..." She muttered, all trace of teasing gone from her voice at the moment. Her mouth had twisted into a grimace at the thought of it all. She started heading for the stairs and the lights lit up one at a time as she started her descent. "Pretty high tech." She commented, glancing back at him as she continued on her way. "I'm not going to be eaten by some kind of cave dwelling monster down here, am I?"

[/style] [STYLE=border:2px solid #000000; width:380px; color:#5D5D5D; font-family:calibri; font-size:11px; line-height:90%; padding:20px; text-align:justify; border-radius: 0px 10px 50px 10px; box-shadow: 3px 3px 3px #9d9d9d; text-transform: lowercase;]Kiernan chuckled at her words and shook his head a little, ”Some people think I am, so they probably would think something’s wrong with you for choosing to associate with me.” he said amused but honest in that. People only came up to the camp if they were there for survival or to talk to the creepy wilderness guy about lessons in fighting or getting weapons now and then. She’d probably be marked as really weird to anyone who knew she was hanging around him willingly. Or maybe think the wilderness man had kidnapped and brainwashed a beautiful woman…if only they knew she was far from the sort to be brainwashed they’d think twice about even letting the thought cross their minds. The pat on his cheek had him rolling his eyes though as he glanced over at her, ”Why do you do that?”
He was glad when she didn’t question his ‘doctor of death’ theory about himself since that was a whole can of worms he didn’t want to open at the current time. He didn’t commonly go around telling people about his past since he’d left Ireland to put it behind him as much as to get away from those who would gang up and kill him in a heartbeat. Telling people about it seemed like a good way to either get more enemies or to make people think twice about spending any time in his company. He kinda enjoyed having Kira around right now and even though he had a feeling she could handle his ugly past that didn’t mean he wanted to go telling the story like it was a bedtime tale of excitement or whatever.
He couldn’t help but let a grin slip across his lips as he chuckled and nodded in answer to her question, ”Very aware of that fact yes.” he said honestly though from the way she’d jumped him a few times he had to think she could be just as bad sometimes. His only answer to her saying she knew the wind wouldn’t blow him away and that she knew looks could be deceiving was to nod since that was the facts of it and there wasn’t really anything else to say on the matter since that summed it up.
He smirked as he heard what she muttered and figured it was probably safer either way since she wasn’t the only one who’d punch someone in the face if they were stuck in a building with a lot of other people. He was glad he’d thought to put the fallout shelter in now because he wouldn’t have done well in that setting himself. Following her in he locked the door behind them and followed her down the stairs. ”It’s not bad…and no the only thing down there that will eat you is me and I’m not yet down there so you’re safe for now.” he said with a smirk.

Kira arched a brow at him. "Darling, I do way more than just associate with you." She pointed out with a little smirk, unable to help herself in the moment. But she was pretty sure that there was no denying it. She did do way more than just associate with him. She laughed a little when he asked why it was that she had patted him on the cheek. "Because you're just such a sweet, charming man that I couldn't help myself." She said, the sarcasm showing through in her tone of voice. She couldn't help herself in the moment.
Kira knew all about having baggage buried away in the past. Lord knew she had her share of it and she respected the man in front of her enough not to go digging into it all at the moment. It was dangerous ground and she knew that the moment she went digging was the moment that she was opening herself up to a world of scrutiny herself. But she had a damned good feeling that a guy who ran a survival camp had a reason for doing it himself, she wasn't ready to go spilling her guts just yet. But who the hell knew what two grown adults locked together in a small room for hours on end would wind up doing...
She paused a moment at the grin on his face. "Oh my god. Are you... You're... Yep... your smiling. Maybe this is the first sign of the apocalypse and that... right there... what you're doing.... Yep. It's the second sign." She said as she poked his lower lip for a moment. But damn if he wasn't absolutely gorgeous in those moments when he let a smile like that slip. He was beyond gorgeous. Kira would have to make a note to watch herself around him when he did that.
"Again, my statement stands about you being dirty. I certainly wasn't talking about something eating me in quite that way. But it's noted that you're considering it and willing to do it. I might have to hold you to it now, Mister." She said with a smirk still in place on her face. She couldn't help herself. At the bottom of the stairs, she took a moment to look around. She had to admit that it was fairly impressive in the moment. She nodded. "Okay. You now have my undivided attention, Mister Survival." She said. "You're speaking just my language with all of this." She murmured, looking around. She breathed a sigh of relief though. "And now... I can get naked." She commented. Of course, she was talking about the fact that it also meant that she could get changed but... she'd let him take it as he would.

Listening for her answer on the cheek-patting thing he snorted and shook his head at that answer with a sigh, ”Oh you really don’t know me well or you wouldn’t say that even sarcastically.” he mumbled more to himself than in answer to her but it was true none the less. He didn’t think of himself as any of those words even in a joking way actually.
Kiernan didn’t plan on delving into the depths of why he was the way he was or what exactly his past held. He didn’t plan on asking her to do the same either since he got the impression she was just as happy keeping it tucked inside her own head as he was with his own past baggage. Thing was that no one really ever intended to go dishing out their deep dark secrets but part of getting to know someone normally included things like talking about that stuff whether you wanted to or not. He didn’t know what exactly they’d end up talking about while locked down in the shelter but he wouldn’t be surprised if there was some talk about the past given they’d be in there for awhile and there was only so many surface topics you could cover before one cracked the lid on the deeper things.
Her teasing about his smile had him lifting an eyebrow at her his eyes lit up a little with the amusement he felt, ”Take a picture. It lasts longer.” he said swatting at the hand poking his lip with a roll of his eyes. ”Alright enough of that.” he said with a chuckle as the smile went back to his normal sort that didn’t quite reach his eyes as much as just giving the appearance of being what it should be. He had a “stage smile” which was what most people got or what slipped across his lips easiest since it was his most common. Anyone aware enough would see it for what it was but few saw the genuine smiles she’d gotten a peek at.
Another chuckle slipping past his lips as she called him dirty again he shrugged and shook his head at the same time with his smirk back in place. ”You didn’t actually specify what kind of “eating” you were talking about so that’s all on you for opening the door to my dirtiness that you were already aware of.” he said back to her and hit the button along the wall to keep the lights on downstairs even if they were sitting still now that they were there. It was an energy saving feature for when power was cut and they were running off generators for the main area to be motion sensor as well and if the power went out up top that would kick back in but for now even sitting still as possible wouldn’t make the lights go off on them. Looking over at her as he set his bag down he nodded as he looked her over not bothering to hide the action. ”Feel free to get naked and even stay that way if you want.”

She had to give him a little smile when he reasoned that no one else really knew that they did more than associate save Nick. "True. But if Nick and I know... there's more than enough there to be trouble." He commented with a wink in his direction. And they both knew it. "But please... please tell me you made it worth while when it came to his torment." She smirked. "Nothing would give me greater pleasure than knowing that you gave him a little hell." She paused a moment in her speech. "Okay... So maybe there are a few things that would give me greater pleasure, but that's all besides the point." She said. She clanced back at him and his comment but she had to set him right in one respect. "I know you well enough to know that you're exactly the kind of man that I want to associate with, all things aside." She tossed back at him. And it was the truth. Even if she didn't know his past or a whole lot about him. She knew that she could tolerate him. 'Hell. I actually like you. And that's saying something."
"A picture?" She asked, arching a brow at him. "Mmm... Maybe next time." She shrugged a him. And wouldn't that be something if she managed to capture it? Because that was just photographic aphrodisiac right there as far as she was concerned. But she wasn't going to tell him that just yet. If he started smiling at her more often, he'd wind up doing things to her that she definitely didn't want to contemplate just yet. It was all bad enough as it was. She had to laugh though as he swatted her hand away and announced that that was enough of that. "For now..." She commented.
"Note to self. Specify what kind of eating I'm referring to around you. Got it." She said with a shrug. She had to give a slight laugh when he commented on her getting naked and staying that way. "Well now... that entirely depends..." She said as she dropped the bag she was holding on the ground beside her and tugged the shirt she had been wearing off again. "On whether or not you're planning on keeping me warm like you said you woudl earlier."

Nick knowing is an added bit of trouble but worth it in my opinion for how he reacted.” he said honestly and chuckled. Looking at her as she spoke about it being worth it to tell nick and giving the man some hell which he figured had definitely been accomplished. ”We are according to him bunnies which you know and he doesn’t like hearing anything even slightly detailish but that could either be because he’s not getting any at the moment or because thinking about us doing stuff really bugs him. I’d put money on the latter since he doesn’t seem upset by the former at all with being head over heels and all.” he said shaking his head a little. ”Take my chances pushing his buttons every chance I get too so don’t be surprised if he ever has issues looking you in the eye.” he joked with a chuckle as she spoke about other things bringing her pleasure.
Her words about knowing him well enough to know he was the kind of man she wanted to associate with had him shaking his head a little then glancing at her as she said she liked him. ”I don’t think you’re one to scare off, I don’t think knowing what I’ve done would really shock you too much cause you seem tougher than nails and all…but you still don’t yet know it so hold judgment till you do is my suggestion.” he said seriously knowing it was her choice what she did in the end but not wanting her to get some impression of him that wasn’t realistic to the man he actually was at the core. She’d seen enough to get a feel for him but sometimes the details could be the true hang-up in getting along with someone he’d learned.
The talk about a picture had him shaking his head once again as he considered that, ”Good luck getting one.” he said knowing the smile she’d be trying to snap a photo of was rare so she’d need the luck being in time to get it. He didn’t know exactly how she’d gotten one of those smiles but if she was one of the rare people that could he’d have to be careful since that was a dangerous path to go down. Past learning proved the fact well enough in his current situation with his only son and the woman who really didn’t want him having any contact with the boy but felt obligated to give him the chance to.
”Very specific…like details kind of specific because I can twist anything around to suit me for certain things. Eating you? One of those things.” he taunted and watched as she pulled off the shirt wondering what exactly it depended on. Hearing her answer he smirked as he moved toward her reaching out to rest a hand at her waist pulling her closer. ”Oh I promise to keep you very warm Kira.” he said as he tilted his head to place a kiss on her bare shoulder teasingly then along her jaw as he pushed her back toward the wall behind her planning to work on keeping her warm starting right then.
-fading that out because from there on out there’s not a whole lotta harmless talking going on-

Kira had to smile when she considered how Nick likely would have reacted to it all. While he wasn't exactly a prude, the man was very professional and often didn't want to even contemplate anything of the sort where his commrades were concerned. Which was exactly why his relationship with the little brunette at his side interested Kira. He had never seemed the type of man who would take a shinning to one of his clients. But then, if what she had heard around her was true, the woman wasn't exactly a client either. A curious fact but then, it wasn't exactly any of her business either... "He is pretty taken with her..." She murmured. It was interesting more than it was troubling. Maybe the woman would help Nick loosen up a bit. Lord knows the man worked way too damned much.
Kira looked at him, point blank, for a moment when he told her that she had no idea what it was that he had done in the past. She had to smile a little bit. "Likewise, Kiernan." She said. There were a lot of people that underestimated what she was capable of because she had a lighter personality. But the fact of the matter was that she dealt with the morbid nature of her line of work and everything in it by downplaying it and making light of it. "But until I do know... I think I'll take my chances with you." She said simply enough. "And if you turn out being the type of guy I want to skewer with a tire iron... Well... Keep you friends close and enemies closer, right?" She said in the same airy tone. It was more than clear that the past didn't matter at the moment. Nothing did.
"I'll need it. Luck and skill... But I have skill in spades." She grinned at him. And confidence. But she had a feeling that it'd take a lot of time, effort and some new memories to make the man in front of her smile on any sort of a regular basis.
It was some time before she felt that she was satisfied enough to relent to the fact that she was, indeed, plenty warm by that point. She was, more or less, sprawled out on top of him with her head on his chest, a blanket draped over the pair of them. She was content for the moment, but she had to admit... the silence between them was starting to wear on her and she had a number of things tumbling around in her mind. Such as a question that had been nagging at her since she'd stepped foot in his house. She tilted her head a little and placed her chin on his shoulder, looking at him with those bright blue eyes. "The picture in your living room... the baby you're holding in it..." She paused, blinking at him. "Is he yours?"
